Weird things you love that other people think are awful....

I have two:

One:
Our dog has started getting up at sometime between 5am and 6am every day.

Me and DP have started sleeping in separate bedrooms so her early wake-ups don't disrupt both of us.

DP complains vigorously about the whole situation.

I secretly love it.
I love sleeping separately from DP.
I love waking up with the dawn.
I love having a brew in the early morning when it feels like the rest of the world is asleep.
I love early morning walks with the dog when the streets are empty.
I love having long mornings when I can get all my jobs done before 9am.
I love feeling like I've woken early so I deserve extra tea and biscuits.

Having said that, I really hope its only a summer thing. Five in the morning on a cold, wet January morning isn't so appealing.

Two:
I do a personal training session in our local park twice a week.

I love it when it rains. I especially love torrential, hammering rain. Its cooling and refreshing. The park empties and I feel a wave of optimistic isolation come over me. I feel powerful. I feel dedicated. I feel strong. I feel completely alive.

Last night I got caught in a thunder downpour and it was wonderful.

What awful things do you love....

You should write poetry, you described it so beautifully. I was literally there with you in the scenes you described!
I love thecrain too especially when its bouncing down and the smell of earth remains afterwards.

I go to sleep to the sound of a storm, courtesy of YouTube. Since doing so I drop off without fail within 10 minutes. It’s such a comforting sound to me.

I like a visible crust of salt on my food...and if it's something like soup, I'll eat the top layer and then reapply the salt.

I sleep with my head right next to an open window all year round, and I love it when the rain comes in and lands on my face. When camping I sometimes stick my head out the door of the tent if it's raining

I stick my head out of car windows and love the sensation of struggling to breathe in the wind. I used to do it on trains when they had windows you could open.

I crunch enormous quantities of ice every evening. I find it calms me down, and feel panicky if I can't have it.

Going home from a holiday. I like to be away, but going home is the best! I love packing to leave knowing that it has an end to it.

Me too!!!

Maybe you were a dog in another life 😂

My friend does the ice thing, that's her favourite snack and she loves crap food so it surprises even her that she chooses ice over anything else.
Sadly she got covid and it changed her tastebuds, and now it tastes like copper to her and she can't have it!

Mine are: eating lemons, the skins on jacket potatoes and slightly burned meat.

I also love smelling my baby's bum (when it's reasonably clean), it's the cutest part of him. 😅

Sunshineclouds11 · 10/05/2024 14:32

the skins on jacket potatoes

I thought this was normal! Is it not?

It's the best part, esp when burnt

I thought so too!! Are there people who don’t eat the skin?

Satisfying videos of earwax removal, cleaning dirty patios, rugs and swimming pools.

I love earwax and blackhead videos

I’m old school, l prefer wearing stockings and suspenders rather than tights. The “uncomfortable” myth is brought about by a lot of bad quality stuff out there, designed for the bedroom rather than day to day use. The dreaded opaque tights do come out the drawer in mid-winter though.

Something totally different; l enjoy drinking squeezed fresh lemon juice.

Craving ice can be a symptom of iron deficiency.

Really? In that case, I will eat it without feeling so self-conscious.

I don't mean the skin on small boiled potatoes but the big ones that sometimes have dark bits on them (soil?). It might just be my culture (Turkish) and the women who are obsessed with germs and cleaning.

Baked potatoes are a national dish in the UK. Scrub them and cook them so they're fluffy inside and crunchy outside and eat the whole thing. It's fairly normal.

Pulling hair out of a plug hole

You’re welcome at mine any time! I honestly retch and get the shakes every time I have to do this.

I’ve googled before why I have such a stupid and uncontrollable overreaction to it but apparently it’s just one of those things 🤣

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 02/06/2024 17:53

I love unblocking drains, pulling hair out of plugholes, using the plunger to bring up all that horrible scummy stuff. I sometimes wonder if these pleasures have some kind of Freudian explanation.
