Weird things you love that other people think are awful....

I have two:

One:
Our dog has started getting up at sometime between 5am and 6am every day.

Me and DP have started sleeping in separate bedrooms so her early wake-ups don't disrupt both of us.

DP complains vigorously about the whole situation.

I secretly love it.
I love sleeping separately from DP.
I love waking up with the dawn.
I love having a brew in the early morning when it feels like the rest of the world is asleep.
I love early morning walks with the dog when the streets are empty.
I love having long mornings when I can get all my jobs done before 9am.
I love feeling like I've woken early so I deserve extra tea and biscuits.

Having said that, I really hope its only a summer thing. Five in the morning on a cold, wet January morning isn't so appealing.

Two:
I do a personal training session in our local park twice a week.

I love it when it rains. I especially love torrential, hammering rain. Its cooling and refreshing. The park empties and I feel a wave of optimistic isolation come over me. I feel powerful. I feel dedicated. I feel strong. I feel completely alive.

Last night I got caught in a thunder downpour and it was wonderful.

What awful things do you love....

Love blood taking as well. Also afternoon darkness, work pressure and mice.

Going to the dentist and I used to be so scared of it for years. Every 6 months, file and polish and love the feeling afterwards.

Interviews, exams, presentations too.

Life admin - arranging appointments, filing in forms, shopping around for insurance etc.

Unravelling knots - like in jewellery etc.

Walking in the rain and love a good thunder/lightening storm.

Airports & Flying - no better feeling, don't understand why people get stressed. On a plane with no phonecalls, texts, demands etc - it is the most peaceful escape ever.

Negotiation - whether it's at work or with trade's people doing work on house, buying a new (well new to me) car. I get some sort of buzz out of finding a win/win for everybody!

I'm an absolute weirdo but I don't care.

I love pigeons too and always feed the ones in city centres so they sit on me!

I really miss work canteens; it was a break in the day for nice cheap food, a catch up with my friends plus we could all flirt with people from other parts of the building.

Cheap Co-op Cava. Lovely.

Putting my fingers down the plughole and hoicking out a tangle of hair. It's oddly satisfying.

Shark movies.

Sitting outside on a really cold night, when everyone else is asleep. The feeling of being alone and tiny compared to the space in the night sky (only time I ever feel tiny!).

Swimming in clear cold (ish) water.

There's a theme. Maybe I was a penguin in a previous life.

I love Bargain Loving Brits!

Love doing washing/cleaning.

Love sleeping separately from my DP, much better sleep had.

Heinz tinned Macaroni cheese. People really hate that stuff.

And I adore pigeons!

I really like calculating how much a meal has cost, per portion

The cheaper and better value the better

Love a rainy day, especially as we live abroad and it's nice most of the time - hence we have to make the most of it and be outdoors. So it's nice to stay inside and relax if it rains

I like how dark it is in winter, it annoys me when the sun is out late in summer. I want it to be dark when I get up and dark from about 4pm please.

Yeah I don't mind life admin either.

I guess my job is glorified admin so the home/life bits feel easy, quick and satisfying. I'm completer-finisher. Done. Next.

Cool weather, rain & overcast grey skies, very plain/bland food, trucks, going to bed at 9:30pm, data entry, instant coffee from a flask, waking up earlier than i need to so i can workout/skip im my living room to my 90s techno playlist

Rats! I have 5, obsessed with them. They are dear little loves.

Totally agree with this. See also: January. I enjoy the calm and restraint after all the excess of Christmas. Back to work, soup and healthy food, very little booze etc. Tuesdays and February are the worst though.

Rats are so clever and cute, i love them. If i had space i would have some pet ones.

Snakes are also really cute but i wouldn't have a pet one only because they need careful management and i couldn't deal with the food.

The smell of cigarette smoke - I've never smoked even one in my life. But all my family smoked when i was growing up so i guess the smell is a bit comforting. I hate and detest the smell of weed though and that's all anyone seems to smoke these days.

Not that weird, but I love the rain.
All I ever hear is family saying how miserable it is when it rains, how you can't do anything.

I love it. I go for rain walks on my own or with the kids and no one else is around. No one to bump into for a chat. It's perfect. O also love an excuse to stay in the house. I used to love sitting in the rain as a child. So peaceful and relaxing.

I also like taxidermy, not sleeping with dh (we've ended up in separate rooms - he thinks it is temporary, it's not) and early mornings. I also love anchovies, especially on pizza.

I love huge tattoos and think old people look cool with them.

I prefer sitting in the shade.

Shop bought birthday cakes. I think they’re delicious, it’s only very recently that I realised a lot of people think they’re awful and only homemade will do.

I also love cheap chocolate like dairy milk and crème eggs which a lot of adults say they hate.

I also really love basic food like dippy egg and soldiers. Much rather have egg and chips than fine dining which seems like a lot of hard work! 😂

I love big, hard looking dogs like mastiffs and XL bullies, I like the contrast between their tough appearance and daft dog ways, and I think they are cute.
