A long shot here but has anyone managed to reset a suitcase PIN code?
or break into a suitcase?

my mum offered to put the dress in her back and my heels and can’t remember the pin, I am screwed!

I meant to add that the specific suitcase brand is Samsonite. I am in the process of unsuccessfully trying to reset via YouTube videos and pin guessing!

Aren't they usually set to 0000? Had she set it?
Birthday, wedding day, phone number?

Shouldbedoing · 04/05/2024 17:29

If it's a zip suitcase, you just push a pencil between the teeth and slide it open- saw it done by customs on an airport documentary

Cocothecoconut · 04/05/2024 17:30

Fire station - ask to use their bolt cutters

shepherdsangeldelight · 04/05/2024 17:32

how many numbers? If it's 3 or 4, why not just put on some music and slowly work your way through them all - won't take that long and at least you'll feel you are doing something.

urbanbuddha · 04/05/2024 17:35

Google says the default code is 0 0 0
Does that work?

Rosecoffeecup · 04/05/2024 17:36

If you've tried all the obvious (0000, 1234, 9999, all the birthdays etc) I'd probably just take a knife or scissors to it

xyz111 · 04/05/2024 17:37

Is it the same number as her bank pin?
How can she have forgotten 🤦🏻‍♀️

NoTicket · 04/05/2024 17:38

Just work through the options?

Whatthejackdawsaw · 04/05/2024 17:38

As above, I'd use Biro tip or pencil to part the zip teeth then can rezip over to reseal (assuming it isn't the type where the zip is installed inside out to make this harder)

Porridgeislife · 04/05/2024 17:38

Are you at a hotel? They will be able to break your lock as it happens all the time.

Otherwise hightail it to Homebase/Screwfix etc for a cheap pair of bolt cutters.

PegasusReturned · 04/05/2024 17:38

There are 1,000 options on a 3 number PIN code and 10,000 options on a 4 number PIN code. It might well take that long!

Peanutsalty · 04/05/2024 17:38

You'll have to spend a couple of hours going through all the combinations

WarshipRocinante · 04/05/2024 17:39

I did this as a child! I managed to reset the lock because I was playing with it and my dad then couldn’t open it. We were in Malaysia, he went to the hotel reception and they send someone up with bolt cutters 😂.

But if you’re willing to lose the suitcase then just go buy some scissors and start digging your way in through the zip/fabric/wherever. Then pull it apart!

Oooh! That’s so obvious 🤦‍♀️. I’d have been at it with scissors.

Missmuffin1984 · 04/05/2024 17:45

It’s this! And the suitcase can be used without the pin, she has not used it for years and somehow knocked it (she said) or leaned on it and the pin lock activated. Not really sure what she did tbh.
ill try that video that was posted- thank you!

At home so not in a hotel unfortunately and I have a toddler who will want his mummy to put him to bed soon 😂

You can feel when you've got one of the numbers by tugging on the zips, it'll feel looser when you've got it, so you don't have to go through all the combinations.

loverofalmonds · 04/05/2024 17:47

edu unlikely you’ll be able to break that lock op

you need the hotel gardener to attack it with an ax

Zonder · 04/05/2024 17:48

I'd go at the suitcase with a saw.

Peanutsalty · 04/05/2024 17:49

It's only 3 numbers

It won't take long to go through all the combinations

Start with 000

999

123

321

loverofalmonds · 04/05/2024 17:49

will be hard but try not to be too pissed of with your mum

Peanutsalty · 04/05/2024 17:50

Then

001
002
003

Etc etc

Good luck

SoupDragon · 04/05/2024 18:01

It's a shame you don't have time to get a TSA key from Amazon.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/05/2024 18:02

This happened to me - arrived on holiday and couldn't remember the code, wasn't my usual one. We worked through every possible combination and had it open within 20 minutes. Better than damaging the case.
