A long shot here but has anyone managed to reset a suitcase PIN code?
or break into a suitcase?

my mum offered to put the dress in her back and my heels and can’t remember the pin, I am screwed!

Push a biro into the zipper and slide it apart. You can fasten it back up again afterwards. Although if it's like my suitcase my zips slot into the lock and stay fastened until I put the pin in to release them.

PickledPurplePickle · 04/05/2024 21:09

Just go through each option

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/05/2024 21:55

How are you getting on @OP ?

Lavendersquare · 04/05/2024 22:11

All suitcases can be opened with a special code, it's what customs officers use, google it.

Bogeyes · 04/05/2024 23:08

Have you opened it?

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 05/05/2024 04:04

I've done it before in reverse, I'd left packing for a holiday to the night before and the empty suitcase was locked.

I managed to unlock it after spending ages online and YT but can't remember how.
I know that's not helpful, but just to say it's possible without damaging the bag.

Try 111, 222, 333 etc sequences. As she hasn't used it for years, hopefully it's still on factory settings.

🤞.

This might work.

Guavafish1 · 05/05/2024 06:55

You'll have to though all possible combinations.

It will take about 20-30mins to go through them all.

Neveralonewithaclone · 05/05/2024 07:00

Try 007

urbanbuddha · 05/05/2024 08:03

Or 505 (today’s date) or her wedding date.

If you are in a hotel , take it to reception and ask them. We did the same once and they got in it in seconds. Wouldn't tell us how but I was so relieved I didn't care.

CaveMum · 05/05/2024 09:24

Hope you managed to get it open OP! Enjoy the wedding.

TitaniasAss · 05/05/2024 09:26

I need to know if you got the dress out OP!

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 05/05/2024 09:28

Birthdays

Doris86 · 05/05/2024 09:31

Try putting your ear to the lock, whilst pulling on the lock as if you are opening it. Then rotate the first dial, and you’ll hear a click once you get to the right number. Then do the same for the rest of the numbers.

TonyHancock · 05/05/2024 09:41

I saw a film once (I might even have been in it!) where they used a small amount of plastic explosive to open a locked suitcase.

Could you ask at Reception if they can let you have some. If they say they don't have any, leave a scathing report on TripAdvisor.

That's what I would do.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 05/05/2024 09:53

Bring it to Timpsons or somewhere similar and they'll open it for you.

Wigtopia · 05/05/2024 09:55

Another one keen to know if you got in? I’ve been rooting for you!

SiobhanSharpe · 05/05/2024 10:04

We had this with my late DF's briefcase after he died. Mum thought he set it using his old army number (or part of it) but was unsure of the number anyway.
It turned out the number was something like 989. So it took a while.

InTheRainOnATrain · 05/05/2024 10:06

Post on social media asking if anyone has a TSA key. I have them, having been in this exact situation before funnily enough with what looks like the exact same suitcase! Someone you know must do too! Failing that, call all of the key cutting shoe repair type shops eg Timpsons locally to see if they can help. They might have a TSA key in stock.
And fingers crossed for you! Hope it’s a great wedding and the dress is retrieved.

It's only 3 numbers

It won't take long to go through all the combinations

Start with 000

999

123

321

THIS! You dont have to cut it open- just try all the combinations. This happened to me and it took me about 10 mins to open it.

quizzys · 05/05/2024 10:09

Would any company/locksmith etc. open suitcases randomly like this? How would they know that the suitcase wasn't stolen by the customer?

They'd ask you what was inside it first then if what you said wasn't inside it, they wouldn't give it to you.

TheSquareMile · 05/05/2024 10:13

@Missmuffin1984

Did you manage to open the case?

SirWalterElliot · 05/05/2024 10:14

This happened to me and I did just go through all the numbers (start 000). Luckily it didn't take that long to find the right one!
