I’m sure we’ve had this thread before, but there are always new shit adverts 😁

My least favourite at the moment is the new Sainsbury’s ad where the boy says, “Daaaaaad…” and the dad cuts in with “Don’t say it!” before the boy asks what’s for dinner. Flummoxed looking dad then turns to the camera and asks “Any ideas, Sainsbury’s?”

What’s that all about? Is it really an outlandish question for a child to ask? It’s not like he wants to go to Disney World. It isn’t unusual for children to expect to be fed, and quite why the dad is so bewildered at the idea of having to think of something when dinner happens every day of every year, I can’t imagine.

What are your most hated ads?

Those dated, American-style adverts are a strong reminder to be grateful that our advertisers expend creative effort and bigger budgets on trying to tell a story - no matter how annoying the results!

I've been in meetings where the client's insisting "THE PRODUCT IS THE STORY" (this type of client's quite likely to want himself in the adverts, too). It's a delicate process 😏

Domino pizza ads. Deliberately creepy. Wouldn’t buy their shit pizzas anyway

Oh and the one where they’re playing a board game and someone suggests swapping partners. One woman thinks it’s a “swinging” proposal. Pathetic sexual innuendo

Yeah that woman personifies everything I imagine a verisure customer to be - rude, snidey and spiteful. In addition to being too weak and spineless to be able to protect their own home.

AND he literally has no power!!! He has had to give his personal data away for the dubious benefit of paying normal prices for food. This is the OPPOSITE of having power!

I usually skip adverts. Fact if you watch 10 episodes a week an hour long (on the tv listings) and skip the adverts, you will save enough time to watch almost 3 US seasons!

One awful advert I remember was the Cazoo advert which was around at lockdowns where man was swallowed by his sofa and came out in the morning. Thank goodness Cazoo are no longer with us

Heinz is an inferior and overpriced brand.

Their beans, soup and ketchup are rancid. Supermarket own labels are cheaper and nicer.

Brainwashing the unintelligent.

The blind lady with her guide dog Toffee. I'm sure she and Toffee are lovely but the advert really annoys me!

There's one with a woman who keeps saying "shhhh" over and over again. Don't even know what it's for.

I very rarely have any idea what they're advertising. It just goes over my head unless it's particularly annoying

The McCain one with Ian Stirling and the v attractive farmer with undercurrents of flirtations. Think he's hoping she shows more then her 'chips'.

The pandora 'you must know what it's like to love somebody' annoying change of words.

The constant ads for junk food. The Mac Donald’s one where she’s eating at a bus stop in the rain, totally tacky. I remember in the 70s this behaviour was frowned on.

To be honest any advert that doesn't have moose the dog in it (either moose) is fairly annoying. The ones that show abused animals I turn off,

The only good thing about ads is that I have a monitor that checks the adds and then pays me at the end of the month.

I hate the Amazon Prime Concrete Jungle Advert - that woman looks like she is so unhappy and spiralling into a lonely depressing life....

The advert with a dog and the drippy singing 'just feel lost without you' awful!

Although to me i think "why is she looking so miserable moving into her own place in the city with outside space that she can easily make lovely?"

For me it is one of the worst adverts on TV - I have to switch over every time, although there are many awful ones. What happened to the days of the fabulous BA adverts set to opera music? No art in it these days!

Walker crisps with David Beckham. It’s not terribly exactly, just stupid and pointless.

Yes a lot of young women would give their right arm for such a space!
