Weird things that feel nice

I’m currently using ear drops due to an ear infection and I’d forgotten how much I love that feeling when you put them in, then after a few seconds they bubble and trickle down. I love that little tickle in your inner ear.

It got me thinking about other sensory things I like - another one is standing in bare feet on a thick piece of cardboard and feeling the “cells” of the cardboard squish.

Am I the only strange one or has anyone else got other weird but nice sensory feelings?!

Gonna sound really weird but at night I like to go to bed, lay on my side and scrunch up tightly into a ball, hold that position for a good 40 seconds or so, then slowly stretch out. Then finish off with a huge stretch! It’s such a good feeling!

Pulling loose hair out of your bum crack after having a shower.

Half of these aren't weird but you definitely win for this one which certainly is weird 😂

crunching in fresh snow or crunchy autumn leaves, popping bubble wrap either standing on it to hear the pop or twisting it in my hands, having my hair brushed by someone else, ditto with back scratched, playing with the kids sensory toys in particular the ones with water beads, sand on bare feet, scorching hot showers, putting my finger in hot candle wax, the smell of chlorine, there's prob a lot more but can't think of any more of the top of my head lol

Oooh yes, building up layer after layer of wax on your finger 😬

I had to have some bubble wrap removed from once as I wouldn’t (couldn’t) stop popping it, and the rest of the office got annoyed with me

TroysMammy · 19/04/2024 22:47

@Plump82 it's the reason I have long hair 😂

I have always liked putting my hand under the necklaces hanging in a shop and lifting it - feeling all the weight together.

I really like opening the dishwasher and all the steam going in your face

Turning the shower to cold so it makes you gasp

AmaryllisChorus · 19/04/2024 22:52

Popping bubblewrap. Bliss.

laughinggnome · 19/04/2024 22:52

Bit niche but when I'm cleaning and getting a lovely Dettol foam accumulated on my sponge. When I was pregnant I cleaned EVERYTHING in Dettol just to get the foam. Flat stunk but I was in my element.

I really wanted to write this one but was too embarrassed I'm glad to see someone else did it 😂😂

I love being laid in bed in winter and throwing my duvet off until l start feeling really cold.. then pulling it back on and getting that snuggly warm feeling.

JusWunderin · 19/04/2024 23:08

The de-pressurising of your sinuses when you have an infection. It’s obviously so gross as all the mucus runs down your throat but the tugging/emptying sensation when it happens is second to none.

jelliestfish · 19/04/2024 23:14

The sound and feeling of the cool metal nails on my face from those nail impression toys.

Here to second the pp who said getting your blood pressure taken. That crinkling sound, the pressure getting tighter and tighter. Always worth a trip to the doctors just for that!

Upallnight2 · 19/04/2024 23:29

Definitely a good cotton bud scratch in the ear!

I have a thing for asmr too

Bearpawk · 19/04/2024 23:36

From childhood - the foot measures thing in clarks 😍

I came here to say this! I also quite like getting frisked at the airport.

GameOfJones · 19/04/2024 23:48

Getting into bed with my socks on and then immediately taking my socks off. I can't describe why but it feels amazing.

I also love slicing courgette. Something about the way the knife just glides through it is so satisfying.

I love the rush of getting an injection and the little pinch on your skin 🙈 I get so excited to have my blood drawn.

I also love the loosening/pressure release as you remove loads of dead skin off your feet. Feels like my feet can breathe again.

I don't really like injections where stuff goes in but I quite like when they're taking blood out. I like it when the nurse says 'sharp scratch' for some reason!

RicherThanYews · 19/04/2024 23:58

Definitely sniffing the hair of my husband and son when they've been outdoors in the freezing cold or a windy day, it's delightful and comforting.

TMI gross warning but lifting an ingrown toenail with tweezers for a few seconds of pain relief because owwwwwwwwwww.

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 00:01

Any kind of massage.

When you've had a blocked nose and you blow it and it feels like a dam has burst in your sinuses and your entire head is drained of snot and it all erupts out of your nose and sits in the tissue as a heavy warm gloop of mucus and you feel sort of proud and empty at the same time 😆

TheLaughOfRustyLee · 20/04/2024 00:03

The feeling of a bandage wrapped round a limb

Biting polystyrene. The squeaky feeling.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/04/2024 00:40

Sorry 🤣

I think I've recovered now 😅 Here's hoping nobody declares a love of licking dry wooden spoons… (oh god, I've given myself cold sicky shivers just typing that 😆😭)

FFSNorman · 20/04/2024 00:52

Insects walking on my arms or legs.

GogAndMagog · 20/04/2024 02:54

The IT person coming to sort out my computer. Can be anybody, just serious tingles. Yet to find an ASMR that can replicate!

Also, somebody writing or drawing in my notebook. Same as above.
