New thread. I took the liberty - the old one was at 999!

There’s also this one from the Sun where she wants to abolish the Supreme Court and the Human Rights Act. Pretty sure she’s pissed here.

Someone really needs to stage an intervention to protect her from herself.

Bloody hell.

newnamethanks · 16/04/2024 10:05

Liz Truss! This level of delusion usually results in a doctor being called. I understand there's a shortage of many frequently prescribed medicines. Maybe it's that.

RafaistheKingofClay · 16/04/2024 10:25

She does seem to be totally unaware that she’s a laughing stock.

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 10:41

I read on the thread about her in aibu that her book is published by Lord Ashcroft's company.

Rishi Sunak will hand over £50m to Rwanda as soon as his flagship deportation bill is passed into law, it emerged on Monday.

Appearing before the public accounts committee, Matthew Rycroft, the Home Office’s permanent secretary, said ministers would hand over the payment to the Rwandan government “as soon as we have royal assent”.

Sunak to give Rwanda £50m if deportation bill passed into law

MPs voted through plans on Monday and bill is expected to become law within days

I dont consider Truss a laughing stock. She wasn't a mad blip in Conservative history. She represented vested interests - the Tufton Street organisations, the IEA, the non dom media owners, the Brexiteers and their stoodges, Frost, Hannan, the oil interests etc etc.
They are still involved with the Conservatives, still pressing the same agenda albeit its useful for them to frame Truss as the problem, rather than their policies - she went too fast, rather than we were wrong. We know that some in the Conservative party would reintroduce those same policies in a heartbeat - cuts to public services, leaving ECHR, abolishing the OBR, ditching the Human Rights Act etc. They are all still there. Truss is just trying to stay useful to them.

At this point we’re just being rinsed by Rwanda for all they can get.

Their standing in Africa is currently through the roof.

Rwanda must think all its Christmases have come at once.

Rwanda must think all its Christmases have come at once.

There is no way there isn't some sort of wager going on in Kigali, with people laying increasing odds on "You will never get them to swallow that ...." followed by an exchange of (UK supplied money).

Since Chris Grayling managed to award ferry contracts to companies that had no boats, has anyone thought of trying to get the Rwanda gig from the Home Office ? Not actually having any planes wouldn't be a bar.

Police shutting down NatCons

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 12:49

https://x.com/freddiejh8/status/1780195919050203508

Police have now left after one said he didn’t want to cause a scene. Organisers are challenging the decision in the courts.

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 12:54

NEW: Police now suggesting they won’t be dragging people out of NatConTalk conference in Brussels but rather their tactic is that they are not letting anyone else in and people can leave and not re-enter the venue. Meanwhile Suella Braverman is continuing to deliver her speech

https://x.com/darrenmccaffrey/status/1780199790824849746

The conference has been frantically trying to find an event space after various hosts cancelled at the last minute under pressure from local politicians. Think it’s fair to say the THIRD venue they found is quite kitsch

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 12:57

I don't understand why they are in Brussels in the first place, not a very Brexity location.

AdamRyan · 16/04/2024 13:00

What? What grounds are they doing that under? I feel theres a risk of playing into the "persecuted right" narrative

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 13:14

The Mayor of Brussels is doing it, saying 'the far right is not welcome'

https://x.com/emir_kir/status/1780177823602180390

'ai pris un arrêté du Bourgmestre pour interdire l'événement "National Conservatism Conference" pour garantir la sécurité publique.

A Etterbeek, à Bruxelles Ville et à Saint-Josse, l'extrême-droite n'est pas la bienvenue.

Translated from French by google
I issued an order from the Mayor to ban the “National Conservatism Conference” event to guarantee public safety.

In Etterbeek, Brussels City and Saint-Josse, the far-right is not welcome.

Maybe Nuremberg was booked ?

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2024 13:55

It's only gradually shut down, both Farage and Braverman could deliver their speech as normal and the organisers are looking for a new venue for tomorrow.

Rwanda ?

LittleBowSheep · 16/04/2024 14:06

"Why me? Why now?"

The sheer audacity of Liz Truss trying to make the death of the Queen all about herself. Hideous creature.

I think anyone who buys her book seriously needs their head testing.

Notonthestairs · 16/04/2024 15:02

It looks like very small venues for those Nat Cons talks.

I agree with you @AdamRyan - I don't really like to see them kicked out as it feeds their persecution narrative.

I am surprised that the authorities left it so late - I wonder if there had been prior warnings but the organisers decided they'd get more publicity from being asked to leave.

AdamRyan · 16/04/2024 15:38

SerendipityJane · 16/04/2024 13:57

Rwanda ?

😂

newnamethanks · 16/04/2024 15:50

Glad to see Europe can still recognise a bunch of fascists, no matter what name they've chosen this time round.

AdamRyan · 16/04/2024 15:52

It's a bit alarming how many are British, and that lots of British people would think Cates and Braverman are just run of the mill politicians.
Plus Truss' comments about how Farage should join the Tories yesterday. It's very alarming.
