I’ve got 2 months to lose as much weight as possible… give me your best tips!

As the title says, I am going on a beach holiday to a really lovely resort in 2 months.

I am obese, a size 18/20, and should have done something about my weight months ago. But I haven’t and I have 2 months to try as hard as possible to get in shape.

What will help me the most?

TIA!

Low carb. Intermittent fasting and calorie restrictions. Like 800-1200 cals.

Happyharper · 13/04/2024 16:37

I did this for my wedding. Dropped from size 10 to 8. Banana for breakfast, soup for lunch, soup or very small carb free meal for dinner. No snacks. Swapped beer for gin and tonics. Aim for sub 1000 calories. Completly unsustainable but doable for 6 weeks!

EcoCustard · 13/04/2024 16:38

Very low carb/strict keto. Exercise and strength train to tone up as you lose.

LaWench · 13/04/2024 16:43

No alcohol or sugar. Small portions of whole foods, lots of water.

Luxell934 · 13/04/2024 16:47

You’re not going to get in shape in 2 months sorry. You could do a super low calorie diet where you basically starve yourself which would make you utterly miserable, OR make peace that it’s not going to happen in that time frame and start eating healthier, drinking more water and start exercising with a much much longer term goal in place.

Happyharper · 13/04/2024 17:09

Oh yes to add I was completly miserable, exhausted and a total bitch to everyone. A high price to pay!

lifeistooshort2024 · 14/04/2024 20:33

What about slimming world?

What about slimming world?

I'd do slimming world.

I did it years ago and lost 12lb in the first week. I was 13 stone at the time.

isitbananatimealready · 14/04/2024 20:58

Put your knife and fork down on the plate in between mouthfuls. If you eat more slowly, it gives your body time to register fullness and tell you that you've eaten enough. If you're eating too quickly you have already eaten more than you needed by the time the 'full' sign lights up!

thesnailandthewhale · 14/04/2024 21:03

Cut out sugar and processed foods as much as possible
Get lots of sleep
Don't go for 800-1200 calories - you'll mess your metabolism up, making it even harder in the long run.

Semaglutide

RockSocks · 14/04/2024 21:11

Can you jog/run?

I'm a size 20 and started walking fast/jogging a month ago 3 times a week for 40 minutes and have lost an inch and a half off my stomach.
I walk miles a day with the dog but it wasn't till I started to jog that I saw a difference.

BoneshakerBike · 14/04/2024 23:43

Riccola
Every French and Spanish women's weight loss secret (according to the adverts)
But it does help-low calorie diet and a box of riccola every evening
You can loose 2 stone on 2 months

Femme2804 · 15/04/2024 00:40

Fasting. Only eat once a day and workout everyday when you fast.

workout 4 times weight training + 30mins jogging

and the other 3 days doing HITT.

i lose 2 stone in 2 months doing this and i keep it off.

Choux · 15/04/2024 00:43

Mounjaro - it's like liquid willpower and makes sticking to a low calorie diet easy.

Deathbyfluffy · 15/04/2024 00:44

Intermittent fasting is the way, combined with lots of walking!

TerriPie · 15/04/2024 00:57

Fill up on veg, eggs for protein and really limit carbs.

Small portions of fruit for snacks but be aware they're full of calories.

Careful with potatoes as they are quite high calorie.

Make up sugar free jelly for a pretend dessert.

Weigh everything and work out the calories.

Take a multi vitamin

Drink plenty water but don't go crazy.

Get out walking everyday as much as possible.

coxesorangepippin · 15/04/2024 01:41

Low carb

Lots of veg and protein, i.e. eggs, cottage cheese etc

Tons of water

Exercise outside

No alcohol

If you're really serious, you could try the Fast 800 diet and people have lost a couple of stones in 2 months so you'd definitely drop dress sizes, look and feel better.

Speed is the key. The physics equation is power = work / elapsed time, so the faster you move, the more power you generate and the more calories you burn.

Walking slowly (or at least, bit as fast as possible) will build up stamina, but not actually help a person lose weight annoyingly.

@lifeistooshort2024 something else you might try is drinking a pint of water half an hour before you eat in order to feel more full.

I would also try not to focus on weight, but on measurements. Take a load before you start, and watch them change, it's far more rewarding and will show small results more quickly. I lost 3 stones a few years ago, and couldn't really 'see' any change with the first stone. If I hadn't had the measurements, I would have been very disheartened.

If you have a gym or access to free weights, this will help you too. You need to do some reps with the heaviest weight you can lift to burn calories, otherwise your just building stamina in the same way walking slowly does.

Lucy Wyndham-Read's youtube channel is really good too. Loads of stuff to do at home.

This post is not only rather silly but self contradictory. You say really limit carbs, but fetch our carbs and fruit is extremely high carb. If you are really limiting carbs that last thing you would eat is potatoes.

Tarquina · 15/04/2024 03:35

That should have read "vegetables are carbs".
