I’ve got 2 months to lose as much weight as possible… give me your best tips!

As the title says, I am going on a beach holiday to a really lovely resort in 2 months.

I am obese, a size 18/20, and should have done something about my weight months ago. But I haven’t and I have 2 months to try as hard as possible to get in shape.

What will help me the most?

TIA!

Im in exact same boat as you. Took plunge and ordered Mounjaro on Sat. Just awaiting delivery. Used saxenda with good reults until stocks dried up. Was freaking out at cost but had a link for 50% off that made it £114 for first month... which in grand scheme of things wasnt too bad... then it seems you cancel the subscription.
This is my link if it helps, for 2-3 months I figured it was worth a try... xx

You can't get to a healthy weight in 6 weeks, so stop right there. Decide on a reasonable goal (losing 1.5 stone?) and aim for that.

Losing weight too quickly means much of it comes off your muscles rather than your fat stores, which is counter productive as muscle is denser than fat and it burns calories just by existing.

Eating far too little for 6 weeks could damage your heart as well as all the other risks with rapid weight loss. Please be careful!

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/04/2024 12:37

I will try to keep you company on sensible weight loss op. Plenty of us out there, who need to lose weight.

nearlyemptynes · 15/04/2024 13:31

slimming world- i started in January and have lost 2 stone

Kitfish · 15/04/2024 13:34

Try Wegovy

Trulyme · 15/04/2024 13:53

The key is to not starve yourself, else you will end up failing after a few days and putting it all back on.

Take whatever you normally have and massively reduce the portion size and replace it with veg.

Most veg has very few calories and you can eat huge amounts which will fill you up but not make you put on weight.

You want to focus on having protein and non starchy veg for most of your meals.

I’d go low carb too but don’t overeat your calories on other things and don’t beat yourself up for having some carbs.

A diet I followed was:
Breakfast - either eggs on toast or overnight oats (my carbs were mainly in the morning).
Lunch - soup or salad with tuna or ham.
Dinner - chicken and mixed veg.
Snacks - sugar free jelly, ice poles and fruit (I have a sweet tooth).

I counted the calories and watched my portion sizes.

Walk as much as possible and try and keep busy.
Keeping busy will burn calories and distract you from feeling hungry.

Some people find IF works but I actually lost weight when I started eating breakfast and so everyone is different and you just need to find whatever works for you.

You will not be a size 8 in 2 months but be proud of any weight loss or increase in fitness levels that you do achieve.

Buy some nice clothes closer to the time in the correct size that fit well and get your hair cut/dyed (can do it from a box at home), paint your nails and put on some fake tan.

You don’t have to be slim to look good and you’ll find if you’ve spent 2 months eating lots of veg and exercising a lot you are going to feel amazing regardless of how much you weigh.

CactusMactus · 15/04/2024 13:56

Wegovy and fags.

Trulyme · 15/04/2024 13:59

Also if you’re going to cheat then make sure it’s a cheat meal, not a cheat day or several days.

If you mess up, then don’t beat yourself up and get back on it the next day.
Overall you would still have eaten less calories.

Too many times I would starve myself and then end up bingeing, then the cheat meal would turn into days and I’d feel awful and end up starving myself again and the cycle would continue.

My biggest issues were chocolate and cake, so I never bought them and if I was really craving them then I’d get one from a bakery and really savour the flavour and then do a walk afterwards.

Preferably go with someone else too, so you are more aware of what you’re buying and eating.

I never go shopping hungry either.

SW worked great for many people I know but I’ve never tried it.

Perhaps you could post on here every day what you’ve eaten, just so we can help you keep on track.

TheSquareMile · 15/04/2024 14:02

I think that trying to lose a lot of weight in that timeframe will just make you feel miserable and possibly unwell.

I would suggest starting by introducing more vegetables to your diet, adding sources of protein and carbohydrates. Dairy products like skimmed milk, cottage cheese and yoghurt. Plus fruit.

Have a protein based breakfast.

You should find that your weight reduces slowly between now and your holiday.

Luxell934 · 13/04/2024 16:47

You’re not going to get in shape in 2 months sorry. You could do a super low calorie diet where you basically starve yourself which would make you utterly miserable, OR make peace that it’s not going to happen in that time frame and start eating healthier, drinking more water and start exercising with a much much longer term goal in place.

I’d agree - just start on the long term changes - which will do wonders for your skin glow and de-puffing your face

get some clothes that make you feel good, a costume and beach coverup you like, get a good fake tan done.

No point setting yourself up to fail, and anyone can look good at a size 18 with a bit of decent gear and confidence (fake it if needed)

Have a great holiday

doubleshotcappuccino · 15/04/2024 14:07

If you cut out alcohol and sugar ( if you have either of these and intermittent fasting you won't need to spend any money to help you get to your target

JaneDSE9 · 15/04/2024 14:48

NCGoingDry I think that too many Riccola sweets eaten a day are a laxative based on the Amazon comments

wldpwr · 15/04/2024 16:10

I'm using Mounjaro from Voy, lost 6.6kg in two weeks (just over a stone).

Truth is that someone who is obese is highly, highly unlikely to lose weight and keep it off without either surgery or drugs like Mounjaro. See:

Wegovy and fags.

Mounjaro and walking. Better weight loss in tests than Wegovy and waaaay healthier than fags!

TunaCrunchy · 15/04/2024 16:57

Mid July last year I was a size 18, by mid October a size 14.

This is what I did.

No extra exercise.

Cut carbs but still ate fruit.

Ate around 1000-1200 calories per day.

Went on three holidays.

Lost 2.5 stone.

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/04/2024 17:14

I’ve also started on mounjaro . For just over £100 with the discount code I thought it was worth a try discount

im hoping just a month might kickstart stuff enough. Not sure if I’ll carry on with it.

This is disingenuous

The op wants to lose weight. She does not feel that she looks good at this size. So instead of telling her that her opinion isn't valid, let's try and help her instead

13pockets · 15/04/2024 17:34

Following!

Triangulasaurus · 15/04/2024 18:14

Slimming world will NOt help you with portion control. You are better off counting calories and eating at a deficit. Have a look online, work out how many calories you should be eating. There websites that tell you based on how quickly you want to lose weight, download my fitness pal. Exercise and get 10k steps a day minimum. Don't eat back the calories you burn!!!!!

Rowgtfc72 · 15/04/2024 18:24

I'm on the 12 week nhs weight loss app. You log your calories and exercise and it doesn't take off calories burnt. You have to use mfp app to find the calories as their calorie counter is rubbish.
Very easy to use, has pie chart and you can see your progress.

Franticbutterfly · 15/04/2024 18:56

No UPFs/food from a packet. No carbs. OMAD if you can manage it, 2MAD if not. Most of your food should be plants with a bit of meat/yoghurt/egg (have lost 5st doing this).

NigelHarmansNewWife · 15/04/2024 21:00

Over how much time @Franticbutterfly because that doesn't really sound sustainable.

Franticbutterfly · 15/04/2024 21:21

1 year. Almost to the day. Wasn't that hard as I got used to it.

ShaunaSadeki · 15/04/2024 21:24

I’ve lost a lot of weight by v strict calorie control, counting macros and exercise before, I am great at losing weight, 100% focussed.

I am not great at keeping it off as I got v skinny last time and my family implored me to stop weighing everything and I put most of it back on v slowly over 3 years.

This time I am doing it slightly differently as I have a good idea about portion size and how much I need protein and I need it to be sustainable but I also have a holiday coming up so am in a hurry but it needs to be long term to get it all back off and keep it off.

I have lost 8lb in 3 weeks and have another 2 stone to lose, so should have at least a stone off by holiday in a few weeks. This 3 weeks included Easter, eating out and trips to see friends and too much alcohol and not being in charge of all my meals.

I am doing the following, none of which are hard on their own and don’t send dodgy messages to teenage DD

I don’t eat before 12pm, I find this easy as breakfast only makes me hungry. I get hungry at 12pm regardless

In the day I have a large protein shake and either a protein bagel with avocado or something else filling but not big in quantity and or protein yoghurt, with berries, seeds and a sprinkling of oats, this fills me up (can’t do low carb long term as vegan, so aim for lower carb as the more I have the more I want)

normal, healthy dinner, with fewer carbs and as much protein as I can fit in, but a smaller portion. I have done a virtual gastric band hypnosis thing form Spotify and listen every few days and it is honestly working 😂. With my previous weightloss I never shrunk my portion sizes as so focussed on macros so was still a greedy bastard so when I stopped tracking I was still eating too much in quantity and as my activity levels reduced and the odd treat snuck in I slowly gained it back.

massively upped my activity levels: running, swimming, walking and a weight lifting program. Weight lifting will slow the scales going down but will change your shape and boost your metabolism.

I think by being dedicated but not obsessive you should be able to lose 2 stone in 2 months as when you have quite a bit too lose it comes off quickly at first and any exercise you do whilst you are carrying lots of fat will burn loads of calories!

LadyEloise1 · 16/04/2024 08:14

My problem is feeling hungry and having little willpower Sad
