I’ve got 2 months to lose as much weight as possible… give me your best tips!

lifeistooshort2024 · 13/04/2024 16:22

As the title says, I am going on a beach holiday to a really lovely resort in 2 months.

I am obese, a size 18/20, and should have done something about my weight months ago. But I haven’t and I have 2 months to try as hard as possible to get in shape.

What will help me the most?

TIA!

Low carb, exercise. I run.

But actually, do what you can, but buy nice swimwear and a good cover-up, sarongs, decent t-shirts that work for you. It makes you look better to dress well for who you are, rather than drop weight to try to fit some standard. Style it out. And fake tan goes a LONG way.

I saw Melissa McCarthy on something recently and she looked fantastic. Because she really dresses well. And yes, she's lost weight. But regardless, her clothes fit and suit her.

Get advice from a qualified personal trainer, who can give you a realistic routine that won’t lead to you making yourself ill / doing yourself an injury like some of the ones on here would, and that you can keep up afterwards.

Even if you don’t lose all the weight by your holiday, it would be worse if you couldn’t go on holiday at all.

valensiwalensi · 15/04/2024 06:05

What’s going to happen if you don’t lose weight? Do they weigh you at arrivals and not let you in?

Riccola
Every French and Spanish women's weight loss secret (according to the adverts)
But it does help-low calorie diet and a box of riccola every evening
You can loose 2 stone on 2 months

Google is telling me that this is a sore throat lozenge?! Is that right?

Please please don't do this to yourself

Riverlee · 15/04/2024 06:30

Go for two thirty mininute (or one hour ) walks a day. It will help to tone your body.

WeaselOrFerret · 15/04/2024 06:35

Realistically it doesn’t really matter which diet you pick. They all restrict calories in some way, so the best diet is one that you can stick to. Personally I think Slimming World is awful but if you’ve looked at it and think it works for you then try it.

my top tip- work out where you go wrong - most people it’s the afternoon munchies or evening snacking. Then plan for that. So have a big plate of crudités ready to eat in the fridge for when you get hungry and start rummaging. Or buy or prep controlled portions of things you like to snack on (cheese/nuts/crisps/chocolate/etc) so you don’t over eat them. and sit down and focus on food when you do eat. Don’t polish stuff off in front of work/tv/etc.

oh and have either at least half the plate veg and/or a side plate of salad (no dressing or very lightly dressed) 20 minutes before your meal. Easy ways of upping veg, lower calories and mentally you feel like you’re getting a big plate full of food, and multiple courses so you don’t feel deprived.

Yes, the ones I had tasted like Fisherman's Friends (which are also available.in France). I didn't notice any weight falling off, but they are sugar free so presumably harmless.

buidhe · 15/04/2024 06:35

Don't go on a crazy diet. You may not be able to tolerate intermittent fasting etc. But do reduce your calories, pay attention to nutrition, and exercise in a way that makes you sweat and get out of breath a few times a week.

Use MyFitnessPal to track your calories every single day. Set a reasonable limit on the app and try to stick to it. It will really help you work out where calories are coming from in your diet.

ittakes2 · 15/04/2024 06:36

I’m that size and regularly go on holidays to hot places I get swimsuits to flatter like ones with built in tiny skirts or tummy control

I think they're made with Isomalt, which (if you consume an excessive quantity) acts as a laxative.

Buy 1.5litre bottles of water. Drink one a day.

Honestly, it’s amazing what impact this has on your hunger.

Hiker50 · 15/04/2024 06:53

Make a really lovely soup with tonnes of veg and beans or lentils and have that for lunch or dinner.
Make an amazing salad for the week. Tik tok and Instagram have loads of ideas.
Soup is incredibly filling.
Drink lots of water - buy oranges and lemons to make it refreshing.
No carbs and no crap. Lotsof protein. Move as much as possible

Attictroll · 15/04/2024 07:07

Download the free my fitness pal app and set a realistic target...track scan everything- go for a decent walk each day and make sure you allow for one square of dark chocolate in front of the telly every night in front of the telly in your calories...my square of chocolate kept me going 😀

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 15/04/2024 07:07

One of my friends who's losing weight has had brilliant results using a diet called New You. I think it's a bit like Slim Fast (does that still exist?) - meal replacements like shakes and soups, very low calorie. She drinks loads of water too.

I can't say if it's healthy, I haven't actually looked at what it involves. I think she spoke to her doctor before starting it because she takes medication daily. But she's stayed motivated on it because she's seeing results really quickly. She's visibly lost weight in the few weeks she's been on it.

This is good advice.

I've lost 2 stone in 2 months doing strict keto and controlling portions. The key is that if you stick to keto then your hunger will reduce as you reduce the stored glucose in your body.

My meal plan
BF- Natural yogurt with chopped nut (no honey or sweetener)
OR a 2 eggs omelette with cheese, mushrooms and tomato.
OR eggs and bacon (no brown sauce or ketchup)

Lunch - keto friendly soup, mushroom, broccoli and Stilton, chicken and veg. (No bread)
OR salad with meat and cheese, chopped cucumber, olive oil dressing or yogurt dressing .
Dinner - something hot and filling. Meatballs with tomato sauce, beef patties with coleslaw , bolognais (without the pasta), and sauteed courgette, fine beans, broccoli, spinach, couliflour, cabbage.
Fajita without the bread. Ploughman's lunch without the bread. Shepard's pie made with celeriac or couliflour mash instead of potato.

CormorantStrikesBack · 15/04/2024 07:17

Drink loads of water
intermittent fasting, so I eat between 12 and 6pm when doing this
be repetitive with your meals, I have a handful of different salads, couple of noodle dishes, steak and eggs, soup, ryvita and cheese, sandwich thins with cottage cheese, turkey and salad. So I don’t have to think too much, works for me but I get some people might be bored.
protein fills you up well

WhatsMyEmail · 15/04/2024 07:19

Personal trainer to get you started at the gym, even if you can only afford a few sessions

Personal shopper to suggest some flattering clothing styles to help you feel great on your holiday.

I've had the best results fasting using the Fastic app. Essentially by fasting you're skipping a meal, so less calories. On top of that I would track my calories on MyFitnessPal. I also changed shape the most when jogging but please make sure you get fitted for running shoes.

You're not going to dramatically change your appearance in 2 months but you definitley can start and you definitely can have a brilliant time on holiday.

Loveskin2024 · 15/04/2024 07:30

Problem is if you loose weight quickly you’ll just put it all back on. It’s your body’s defence mechanism when you loose weight quickly to compel you to eat more. Your hippocampus will literally compel you back to your starting weight.

you need to eat nutritious balanced meals, this will help you loose weight and keep it off in the long run. A balanced meal is - healthy fat, healthy carbs, protein, vegetables.

healthy fats keep us satisfied and are - real butter, extra virgin olive oil, avocado, cheese, nuts, full fat plain yoghurt.

carbs give us energy and are - brown rice, brown pasta, potatoes, legumes, sourdough bread.

proteins keep us full and are - tofu, seitan, meat, fish, legumes

veg - eat loads!

use your hands to measure portion sizes so thumb size for fats, palm size for carbs, hand size for protein and two palms for veg.

eat one or two healthy snacks a day such as peanut butter with apple slices or yoghurt and fruit. Eat 3 meals a day and drink water.

exercise such as walking instead of driving to the shops. Take the stairs instead of lifts etc

VeryStressedMum · 15/04/2024 07:33

I was size 20 and have lost 4.5 stone it's taken me one year.
I counted calories and reduced carbs. I just ate less than my maintenance calories and kept adjusting.
I think in 2 months I had lost about a stone or a stone to a stone and a half just by doing this.
You won't be 'in shape' in 2 months but you can lose some weight which may make you feel better and any weight lost is good for your health.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 15/04/2024 07:42

The only way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit. If you are already looking at it, try Slimming World. You'll likely lose weight in a supportive environment. Even if you don't slim down to a size 10 (or whatever you want to be) you'll probably feel a lot better as you'll be eating more healthily and will lose some of the weight.

grinandslothit · 15/04/2024 07:43

Fasting and omad. It's not easy but you can lose some weight
