So Ken Stott has a posh-ish wife?

That would sum up my ILs pretty well actually

A duet between them , with apologies to Gershwin.
Does you ever pull radishes
Does you do the things I wishes
Does you do them........

MissMoan · 15/04/2024 16:24

@YaMuvva have you checked the attic, just in case you have an unwanted guest occupying the space up there?

What a weird post.
Op is the victim here. She has paid money for something and been denied access to it. When challenged the person occupying op’s land responded aggressively by saying she would ‘fight’.
She’s entitled to look forward to getting her land back.

Yeah. The Babs Brigade is bizarre.

Anyway TINY update: I managed to call the insurers in between working, mumsnetting and nursing a 7 year old who, 2 minutes before leaving for school, vomited all down the stairs 😭

Luckily we are covered what with the plot being part of the title deeds, but we have to use their solicitors and not our own. I have a telephone appointment on Wednesday with a “specialist solicitor”.

I asked about getting legal support for the fact Sally Seller made a misrepresentation in the conveyancing process, but because this is part of an existing legal issue it’s not covered and I’d have to go back to the conveyancing solicitor. I’m waiting to hear from them anyway about what her solicitors say, assuming they will even get back to them.

I was gonna nip down today for a nosey but the weather is absolutely shite and now I’m chained to the house due to poor DS. Seriously considering hanging up on of those cheesy signs on the shed that says “<DH name>’s allotment” 🤣

I think Sally's solicitors cannot just choose not to get back to you. But whether you can get timely resolution from them is another question. I wonder if you'll get a "Be Kind" call from the seller in the meantime? Maybe she will try to intervene with Babs but I have a feeling she's pleased to be 50 miles away.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/04/2024 16:32

I'm just here waiting for the movie to be made.........

I do agree that Babs is a CF, in the Premiership of CF's probably near the top of the league.

Her solicitors are entitled to say they have no instructions from her. Obviously if she chooses to ignore you she takes the risk that you will go ahead and start legal proceedings which she can't ignore unless she wants a default judgment against her.

Well you are doing a good job of hiding it.
Seems like you are getting a great deal of enjoyment out of being ‘right’ and dissing someone older than you.
I assume you have the secret of eternal youth op?

Since when did being older entitle people to refuse to let the rightful owners of land back onto it, and threaten to fight them if they try to assert their clear rights? And since when did behaviour like that make them worthy of respect?

🤣🤣 we did when we moved in and there was nothing up there except a set of dentures which was a bit creepy

I need to speak to my conveyancing solicitors but I reckon Sally’s are stringing the arse out of this one because it’s just so bad that she’s lied!

Indeed. We were left a resident feline once. When we discovered her, we assumed she was a stray who had wandered in while the movers were unloading, but contacted our sellers anyway just in case. They said "Oh that's Caroline (not kidding about the name); we were wondering where she was." They came to get her, but it was pretty obvious that Caroline was not too impressed with the move.

Caroline 😂
We had a cat as a child who for 2 years used to return to our old house once we moved. I love cats just because they’re the opposite of needy and they somehow know how to play games with their owners 🤣

Friends of mine found a 4 foot statue of the Virgin Mary wearing a footbal scarf in the attic when they moved in. She was wearing a local club football scarf.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 15/04/2024 17:45

It's not uncommon to find statues of St. Joseph buried in the yard garden in parts of the US (I'm American). Supposedly, he helps you sell your house.

I have a sign on my shed which proclaims:

TRESPASSERS WILL BE COMPOSTED

Would that do?

godmum56 · 15/04/2024 17:50

I have heard similar about the Holy Infant of Prague. Burying one in the garden on the day of a wedding is said to ensure fine weather. I think you are supposed to dig him up again though

WHOA! Did they look like they would fit a man? If so, it could be Sally Seller's DH who is residing under the pumpkins and explains Babs ferocious desire to fight for the plot she doesn't own.

The mystery deepens and the "plot" thickens!

Nanaof1 · 15/04/2024 18:11

DisabledDemon · 15/04/2024 00:30

Howabout a tomahawk steak? I mean, there must be a reason that it's called after an axe.

Now, I have had one of those. Sadly, they just aren't thick enough to deliver the proper "thumping" needed to achieve the desired results. I fear the meat and bone would separate too easily to be usable for the time period needed.

They are, however, very tasty and if you pick it up whole and chew on it, it looks quite caveman/cavewoman ish. Sadly, too expensive to enjoy more than OIML.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 15/04/2024 18:26

@LenaLamont just breaking my silent following to applaud you in your use of 'obstreperous'; most excellent. One of my favourites but rarely get the chance to use it!

@Nanaof1 that's what I was thinking, too... the plot does indeed thicken (that'll be all the bones, I guess).

I'll see myself out...

Agreed! Also I'd stake my mortgage on their being sone back channel negotiations going on, thinking about it. Maybe Babs has even called her?

OVienna · 15/04/2024 19:48

@YaMuvva I wonder if chancer Babs could even try to get compensation from the seller?!
