Discontinued foods that you really miss

many lovely things have been discontinued that I really enjoyed growing up, Burton's potato puffs, the original Ringos crisps as they were in the 80s & early 90s. Topic bars, Riva chocolate bars. plus many many more
what do you really miss that they no longer make?

There was a marshmallow biscuit I loved . There were about 6 in a packet . They were rectangle , softish biscuit . On top were 2 parallel squiggles of marshmallow and coconut flakes , divided by a strip of jam . They were either pink and strawberry or peach .

was just going to post a pic of these myself for the previous poster. I also remember there being yellow and white ones too. now only ones pink in the packets.

I have fond memories of having Sara Lee pecan danish cake from ?Iceland with my father. Does anyone else remember those?

Yes, totally lush!

Tootytoot78 · 13/04/2024 18:15

I ate my last ever Caramac yesterday, I bought quite a few bars when I heard Nestle were discontinuing production (the bastards).

I shall evermore mourn the thin creaminess of a Caramac. I have tried other versions, they are just not the same.

Drifter.
Time Out.
Quorn nuggets with cheese inside them.
There used to be a frozen baguette thing, a bit like garlic bread but without the garlic and filled with cheese all the way through, that was absolutely perfect 🤤 I would love to have that back. Also Burger King Bean burger and the white chocolate and raspberry pie that was very recently at McDonald's for a short while.

Time Outs definitely still exist.

Tangy Toms are sold at Scotmid! I believe this is the equivalent of Cooperative down South.

Fry''s raspberry creams.

Coca cola , they way it tasted in the 90s.

Fry's Raspberry Cream bars were available in Poundland, in packs of 3. They also had coffee ones; I love a coffee chocolate as it's a rare beast these days, but this wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. They also had the orange one, lush!! 😋
I'd like to see Cadbury Grande Seville bars brought back; they were a combination of milk & dark choc, with tiny slivers of orange peel in it. I used to buy it from Woolworths on my way to work. It was like the Old Jamaica bar. No doubt they'd ruin it now. I don't mind paying more for a decent choc bar, just make it quality!!

Popworks · 13/04/2024 19:05

Marks and Spencer Wensleydale and carrot chutney sandwiches. Utterly delicious.

Tescos used to do a delicious vegetarian moussaka ready meal which was go-to 'working late' meal. They reformulated it and it was VILE, which everyone else apparently thought too as it was quickly discontinued.

Spiras, secrets, topics too :(

Not from the supermarket, but I loved cherries jubilee from the Little Chef.

InfoComet · 13/04/2024 19:08

All the drinks that have since been ruined with sweetener

Vimto
Ribena
Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock and Rose Lemonade
Lemon Fanta

I'm sure there are lots more

Mitsky · 13/04/2024 19:09

Worcestershire sauce flavoured twiglets

and mignon morceaux as someone else mentioned

Dragonfly97 · 13/04/2024 19:19

I thought M & S still did the wensleydale & carrot chutney sandwich?!! I went in the other day and there was a sign for it, but none left. I hope they haven't discontinued it!! Why do they have to meddle with shit we like all the time!!

DahliaMacNamara · 13/04/2024 19:34

@HRTQueen Bovril crisps were Smiths. Crisps are my specialist subject.

I used to love Burton's XL Beef barbecue crisps. I wouldn't touch them now as I'm a weak-stomached vegetarian with no taste for meaty flavours, but back in the day they were perfect. Exactly the right degree of crunch.

I'll put in another vote for Toffos, in case anyone's checking.

HRTQueen · 13/04/2024 19:35

InfoComet I have recently discovered Belvoir blackcurrant cordial and it’s tastes like original Ribena 😄

it’s a little pricey (£3.50) and I can only find in large Sainsburys but well worth the cost it really has made me happy 😊
