When will the rain stop?

I think we need a new thread everyday on the relentlessness of the rain until we get two dry days, in a row( sorry about the length of the sentence).

God yes!!!! It's really depressing me this weather is! Everyone I speak to is so fed up! When you've got kids too it's so hard and difficult to not be able to get outside properly. I think we've had 1 day this wk that was day, it's about 1 day in a wk, and most wknds are soaked it's awful. I'm seriously contemplating a move to another country. When you think the weather gets gloomy from Oct it's been almost 7 mths of no sunshine at all! It's a lot of darkness for people to deal with! Rant over 😤

JamSandle · 10/04/2024 12:46

Where are you? No rain where I am currently.

kelsaycobbles · 10/04/2024 12:48

Just started raining here - again

It is an unusual wet year- climate change is forecast to make the UK wetter

I'm the midlands and it's been non stop heavy rain for months on end now! So fed up of it! I don't know so much about climate change I don't rule it out but I do think from what I've read here and there from some geologists the earth does go through these changes in weather.

When you think the last 5-6 yrs have got progressively hotter, by Feb it usually started to get warmer and brighter but by end July the ground was scorched and brown and that summer before last killed tons of our plants off in the garden!

It jjsy seems so convenient that the cost in energy goes up the first yr we have the start of the worst year of bad weather!

ClemmyTine · 10/04/2024 13:06

Mother nature and Father time don't answer questions.

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:06

Being in the midlands tho isn't too bad as far as getting on a train or in the car to escape it but when you can't it feels never ending!

Loveliesbhhfd · 10/04/2024 13:08

Not only rain but the wind, the cold that then causes coughs, colds and feeling rotten

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:10

Oh yes and that wind never stops and it's been non stop viruses! Over half term we started off with d&v, then we were blessed with scarlet fever and then conjunctivitis!!!! Today we all have colds! It's grim so so grim!

Where are you? No rain where I am currently.

I'm guessing you're in London?

When will the rain stop?
lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:11

I think it feels a million times worse when you have kids too as you just feel like you're in the house all the time and it's so boring! Only so much tv, board games and play dates in peoples houses you can do and the risks of getting more viruses on top 😤

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:13

I was seriously contemplating a move to New Zealand or Aus but I'm still trying to work out how their healthcare system works! But yest I read a report in the guardian think it was that they're curbing the immigration as they had a record number of people move their last yr! Not surprising with all the political u rest with the rest of the world and the crap weather!

tigger1001 · 10/04/2024 13:17

The number of absolutely waterlogged fields around me makes me worry about food supply later in the year

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:19

Yes god help us if we had to depend entirely on ourselves for supply of our own food because this weather would def not be helping!

CeeJay81 · 10/04/2024 13:20

Yep Wales here. I know we expect it here but it's been worse than usual. I think I could count on one hand the number of dry days we have had in the last few months.

Lifesd · 10/04/2024 13:21

@Loveliesbhhfd ive just moved to Australia - we are in autumn and it is dry 22 degrees with some cloud most days - all the Aussies are complaining how cold it is getting - I just think it is amazing

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:23

@Lifesd are they? Makes new wonder if generally the earth is cooling all round, I do think the powers that be know it is a thing but refuse to acknowledge it for obvious reasons, blame it entirely on climate change to keep us paying throhhh the nose whilst the big firms cash in like they did end of this tax yr! Makes my blood boil when some families are sitting at home wk after wk and their kids freezing whilst they take in their millions and swan off abroad to warmer places whilst the rest of find it!

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:27

@Lifesd which part of Aus are you in if you don't mind me asking?? I'd like to move to Brisbane but the spiders aren't doing it for me, im petrified knew there'd be a day I'd have to face this fear! I've heard the weather in Melbourne Victoria way can be similar to hear in sense of maybe not so wet but not so many bright sunny days.,. I don't care so much about it being hot, just brighter and dryer! How does the healthcare system work there too as I'm struggling to get my head around it, it'd be nice to just get a rough idea on cost per month/yr for all health related basics...some don't agree with paying for insurance so just pay what's requested . I think you pay for prescriptions same as here but get ambulance insurance as a call out is a lot to pay upfront! A&e admissions aren't charged and gp appointments in unsure someone had said you don't pay the hospital charges the nhs equiv there...dental not fig that our either as yet x

Rainyspringflowers · 10/04/2024 13:30

It’s absolutely relentless. On the plus side it is lovely and green here but I have never known anything quite like it before. Even on rare dry days ordinarily pleasant activities are so muddy and boggy.

Whinge · 10/04/2024 13:36

I'm wondering the same thing. It feels like it's been raining since last summer.

Unfortunately my local area flooded back in October, and I know a lot of people who are still struggling to fix the damage as it's been constantly wet and damp. In the last few months there have been weeks where fields and parks have been impassable due to the heavy rain. Sad

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 13:39

@Whinge that's awful! It must be a whole other league of hard being somewhere with major flooding on top as well! Let's just hope we get some brighter weather soon, it can't possibly rain forever! 😒 it should brighten soon just hold on xx

Crunchymum · 10/04/2024 13:41

London might be dry but it's grey and windy (and was bloody cold yesterday)

We are set for 2 or even 3 nice days in a row soon though. Friday and Saturday are 19c and sunny. Sunday currently looks alright as well.

Then back to rain 😥

Lifesd · 10/04/2024 13:43

@lifeparadox333 i will PM you but south Australia - I’m the biggest arachnophobic you will meet and I’m coping!

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 14:36

@Crunchymum it's always a bit better down there I've def noticed that but yeah the next 10 days here is showing rainy days everyday 😩🤯 I hope we all get some sun soon!!! Xx

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 14:37

@Lifesd thank you!!! Just wondering how I access my msgs as never done that... xx

lifeparadox333 · 10/04/2024 14:49

@Lifesd I've got in to my Msgs yay! So fire away I'm all ears, I need to know what my options are! 😩
