When will the rain stop?

I think we need a new thread everyday on the relentlessness of the rain until we get two dry days, in a row( sorry about the length of the sentence).

I live in West of Ireland and we haven't had a fully dry day in 6 months! The rain is relentless, the ground is sodden, fields are flooded. I've never seen it so bad. To me its depressing and annoying but there are many farmers living around here and their situation is now critical. The land is so sodden/flooded that animals can not be let out in the fields , so farmers are using all their stored feed instead of grass. Planting and vegetable progress is way behind.....so costs are spiralling. They are looking for extra help from government or they are finished!

I love spring for hanging my washing out. It feels like October with the endless rain. I’m sick of hearing my dryer going all day and with 2 young kids (one a newborn!) I have endless washing, I miss my washing line!!

Changingplace · 15/04/2024 09:18

I’ve been waiting for a few dry days so I can mow the lawn, it was dry yesterday and I had hope but this morning it’s torrential & hailing as well as raining, ugh!!

Dear god.
It's dreadful

LaPalmaLlama · 15/04/2024 10:11

The wind this morning was mad! Went for a run with a friend and we were fully 1.5min/km slower into the head wind even at basically max effort. The poor dog's ears were flying out behind it. But- rain is clearing to the south so yay!

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 15/04/2024 10:13

Todays forecast. Sigh

When will the rain stop?
CormorantStrikesBack · 15/04/2024 10:18

It was horrendous here early morning. I was sat at my desk at 8am with no light on and it went pitch black. Torrential wind and rain.

DrCoconut · 15/04/2024 10:19

I've got the heating on and the rain is hammering on the windows intermittently. Horrible weather.

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:30

I e just found out there was a TORNADO in SOT!!! I'll last the link to the article but what how quickly it escalates! It comes from the left side! Never seen anything like it! confirmed as an EF1 I though the weather seemed strange, were 10 miles from where this happened but the wind and rain that suddenly out of nowhere hit the back of our house was unreal along with the claps of thunder that came with it! 😲

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:33

@LaPalmaLlama Oh Lols!!! Mad wasn't it! The dog 🤣 it's still very windy here and I found out there was a tornado in a town just 10 miles from where we are! Abs believable!!! I am defo considering a move to Perth after all this and more rain!!!

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:35

@AnSionnachGlic that's so worrying for the farmers and their livestock!!! 😰 it's really bad this yr! I've never seen it so bad, it doesn't seem normal to me at all! It's just so strange! We've had a tornado here in the midlands in a town 10 miles from us this morning whjch explained the weird freak weather! It was shocking! I've posted a link to it above it's a strong one!!!!

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:38

@SOxon that's abs incredible!!! And I don't blame them it really does drag you down so much and esp when you have children it's so hard to be stuck in all the time and not have many other options that the usual! I totaly understand that move and considering it myself I've had enough of it too! Xx

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:39

@ZipZapZoom totally feel you on this!!! It's doing my tree in now!!! 😖

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 11:42

@Whinge it was the back of a sodding tornado!!! Just 10 miles from where we are I've posted a link above to the video but I knew it seemed so odd! It came out of nowhere this loud wind and strong rain along with blasts of thunder! Very odd!

Mykingdom2024 · 15/04/2024 11:58

So sick of the U.K. weather was I that I moved to SE Asia 9 months ago. Currently 30 degrees.

WoodBurningStov · 15/04/2024 12:39

Thunder, lightning and torrential rain here this morning. Sun is out now.

I live in a rural location and the farmers are tearing their hair out

Fairyliz · 15/04/2024 13:02

Well it’s not raining here today; that’s because it’s snowing 🤬

When’s it ever going to stop.

the80sweregreat · 15/04/2024 13:05

Mini hurricane here today ., well, maybe a micro one , but it did lash down and upset the tv.
It was actually hot on Saturday
No idea what is going on

JamSandle · 15/04/2024 13:20

April is all about April showers though!

Anyone thinking of emigrating, I recommend Perth, Australia. I left Ireland in 2013 because it hadn't stopped raining for what felt like forever. The weather here is wonderful, I went to the beach for a swim today even though its mid-Autumn, I had SAD when I lived in Ireland, so I can confirm the mental health benefits of living in a sunny place are incredible. I'm really not wanting to rub it in, I know it's not an option for everyone, but if it is an option for you, and the weather bothers you that much ( I know some people don't mind it), I really recommend moving to sunnier climes, I've never regretted it.

Seconding this. Not everyone is made for cooler weather so if you have the opportunity to live somewhere warmer/sunnier it could be a game changer for you.

lifeparadox333 · 15/04/2024 13:40

@Fairyliz oh no!!!

ZipZapZoom · 15/04/2024 15:53

JamSandle · 15/04/2024 13:20

April is all about April showers though!

Today's weather was not a bloody shower!!

Heading home now and my coat is still wet from this morning.

evilharpy · 15/04/2024 16:02

I can't believe this thread has got to four pages without the "just put on waterproofs and go for a bracing walk snuggle under blankets cosy family time" arseholes turning up, that must be a first.

I'm in NI. I'm just done with it now. I'm not in a position to emigrate for multiple reasons but I'm just completely done with it. I'm at the point where when the sun comes out I still don't want to go out because I know it'll rain again as soon as I'm far enough from home to get soaked.

LaPalmaLlama · 16/04/2024 17:43

Today I found myself thinking "hope it rains a bit later so I don't have to water these plants in". Gave myself a slap upside the head. Anyway, as it to punish me for such a stupid thought, it started hailing!!

LordPercyPercy · 16/04/2024 18:49

Had a long motorway drive last night in a high-sided vehicle, which was a bit sporting. Finally a bit of sunshine today though.
