So I’ve just discovered Tattle…

My friend told me about it recently so I thought I’d have a look. So I do have some views on ‘influencers’ showing off their DC before they’re old enough to consent, but blimey, this goes above any beyond that. There is a woman on Istagram called ‘Knee Deep in Life’ I’ve followed her for years and I can see that’s she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but she’s pretty inoffensive but the way she’s been talked about of Tattle is horrible, I don’t know how anyone could describe as anything else other than bullying.

i stopped reading after this and I’m very willing to stand corrected if this was a one off and every thing else is well put together and thought through but suspect that’s not the case. I know MN is in no way perfect but just found it really nasty.

What's wrong with Jack Monroe

It's where all the mean girls in Y9 now get to carry on being bitches even though they're now 37 and should know better. It really is a cesspit.

Bit like here at times then

Growlybear83 · 07/04/2024 01:11

I enjoy reading Tattle and find it quite refreshing that it's not dominated by man hating women and that it's generally much more balanced than Mumsnet. As far as some of the threads about so called influencers are concerned, I think that if you decide to put yourself in the public eye, whether as an influencer, musician, or any other type of 'celebrity', then you have to accept that you are going to attract a lot of comments from people, good and bad. If you are irresponsible enough to also plaster your children all over the internet then I don't think you can then complain when people make comments that you don't like.

Jessforless · 07/04/2024 01:12

I love tattle. The Lucy Letby threads were incredibly informed.

I also like the influencer threads, good god they’re like professional detectives!

PaulAnkaTheDoggo · 07/04/2024 01:17

Love the Alice Evans threads (with caution.)

SoundTheSirens · 07/04/2024 01:30

Tattle isn’t one homogenous mass, because by and large different people are interested in different celebs / influencers so you get some parts of the site that are pretty shitty and toxic, and others that are more measured (and that’s something that could also justifiably be said about AIBU versus other parts of MN). I largely steer clear of the shitty and toxic bits and only really read the Jack Monroe and equestrian influencer threads - the people who post on the former in particular are absolutely forensic about highlighting the…errrrr… inconsistencies in what she posts.

FirstFallopians · 07/04/2024 01:32

It depends on the thread I think.

It’s brilliant for general chat- the regional threads are great for political gossip and speaking freely. And the Jack Monroe thread ended up being a public service.

But some of the discussions about individual influences are just downright nasty. There’s a few YouTubers I watch casually- marginally successful, 30-60k followers. Inoffensive people who are trying to make a few quid off their travel vlogs. “Their” Tattle threads are brutal, and have just become bitchy gossip, like something you’d seen amongst younger teens.

Sleepydoor · 07/04/2024 01:44

Some of the posters on Tattle are just nasty, with body shaming and unfair comments. What kills me is that if you suggest they are being nasty two things usually happen:

  1. they accuse you of being a family member of the influencer, and
  2. you get reported for "tone policing" (ie. they can post unflattering photos of an influencer and say they look like "a hag with a giant nose" but you can't say "I don't think it's okay to criticize the size of someone's nose." because it's not allowed to suggest a poster is being an asshole.
abracadabra1980 · 07/04/2024 01:45

Does anybody have a code for Tattle, please and thank you 🙏

Sleepydoor · 07/04/2024 01:48

fiddleleaffig · 07/04/2024 00:03

I won't lie, the Harry and Meghan thread is my guilty pleasure. It is all beautifully uncensored with no risk of "breaking talk guide lines" and "thread deleted"

Tattle is very much censored. Comments get deleted, warnings issued and accounts get suspended.

ifyouthinkyouregettingawayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy · 07/04/2024 03:18

So if threads are moderated then I’m not sure how they do get aaay with calling someone’a rat faced ugly c**t’? I promise I’m not related to KDIL woman but I can’t really see why she’s so disliked. Her content really isn’t my cup of tea but she doesn’t show her kids off and she seems okay (her instagram self anyway which is how tattle judge her).

TBH I was amazed by how influencers on there that I’ve never even heard of! Also… runs off to find the mumsnet thread 😂

I’ve stumbled across it before. Not for me but in my mind it keeps the bitchy comments to one forum when those who want to have a bitch can bitch until their hearts content. Weird but you do you hun, I’ll just stop following whatever instagrammer is getting on my nerves 🤷‍♀️

Rainyspringflowers · 07/04/2024 03:28

Threads are moderated with a different set of rules essentially.

The thing about tattle is that rightly or wrongly most threads are set up with the intention of being critical about somebody. If you read threads from the start you notice a pattern: they start off moderate enough (does anybody follow X? I used to like her but she’s doing undeclared ads and it’s annoying me) and by thread 47 it’s descended into obsessive hate.

Some threads are milder but there are some awful comments about children, some of them very young.

Lwrenn · 07/04/2024 03:38

I'm not one to show an interest in influencers or celebs in general so I'd probably have nothing to discuss with anyone there, plus I have made some lovely pals on here.
But when I've read threads, usually trials (lucy letby/constance marten) I enjoy how the posters generally talk to one another.
I've only really been able to read write to a decent standard within the last 10 years or so and I have quite bad dyslexia, so I do have that wave in internal dread when I see I've been @ or quoted it's someone being mean about how I've worded something and actually 9 times out of 10 someone is being really lovely to me, but there is that 1 who just wants to belittle someone and out of 1000s of people posting I've caught that person's attention.
I do love that women on these sites, tattle or here do build an online community, a village for themselves where they can make friends and perhaps seek advice they'd not ask people irl for or discuss things people in their lives aren't remotely interested in.
Me for example, I'm poor, fat and live in leggings and baggy tops.
But I love the s&b boards incase one day I lose 5 stone and become loaded 😂

ifyouthinkyouregettingawayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy · 07/04/2024 03:44

Because I’m a bloody insomniac I just had a look at some of the LL ones and tone was totally different, really informative. Maybe it’s a case of avoiding some bits like AIBU on here (sorry if that anyone’s fave bit on MN, I’ve had to mute it).

It's brutal, but in the case of Knee Deep...fuck me. Have some dignity. She has opened herself up to it. Not saying she deserves it, but if you put it out there. I feel for her kids I really do.

You said she deserves it, you just tried to hide that judgement under a veneer of I’m a nice person. You failed. She doesn’t deserve it.

Newtonianmechanics · 07/04/2024 04:06

I initially looked at tattle due to the Ingham family and their over consumption at Christmas was Mumsnet that initially drew my atttention to them, stayed for the trial cases LL,Briana and Constance Marten and Gordon. They are very informative.

Some posters attend the trials a bit much for me but is interesting to read their experiences.

Newtonianmechanics · 07/04/2024 04:07

I do like how I can have tattle as a dark page though. The bright white of mumsnet isn't ideal at night.

Garlicked · 07/04/2024 04:11

Some Tattlers are really quick to screenshot dodgy 'influencer' posts before they're deleted and, sometimes, swathes of critical comments before the influencer deletes them. I'm not sure how good it is for someone's mental health to watch Instagram accounts like the FBI's finest investigators, but I'm grateful for their service.

What was the more blokey forum that also exposed lying 'celebrities'? I think it got shut down by a lying celebrity with expensive lawyers? That was a good one, too.

catin8oots · 07/04/2024 04:17

Kiwi Farms?

Garlicked · 07/04/2024 04:20

catin8oots · 07/04/2024 04:17

Kiwi Farms?

YES! Thank you! And it's still alive <waves goodbye to the coming week>

SuperSange · 07/04/2024 04:31

Some of it is mental and awful. Some of it is great and tbh, a public service. They uncover a lot of stuff slebs would rather they hadn't, and the general chat/off topic/ rave threads are fab.

AncoraAmarena · 07/04/2024 04:46

The thing that pisses me off most about Tattle are the ridiculously unfunny thread titles.

MiltonNorthern · 07/04/2024 04:53

I follow the Jack Monroe threads sometimes and they are far more sane than some parts of tattle. The detective work that some people do is amazing! I could never have the time or energy.

Mumofgirls8 · 07/04/2024 04:58

What's PTWM pls?
