So I’ve just discovered Tattle…

My friend told me about it recently so I thought I’d have a look. So I do have some views on ‘influencers’ showing off their DC before they’re old enough to consent, but blimey, this goes above any beyond that. There is a woman on Istagram called ‘Knee Deep in Life’ I’ve followed her for years and I can see that’s she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but she’s pretty inoffensive but the way she’s been talked about of Tattle is horrible, I don’t know how anyone could describe as anything else other than bullying.

i stopped reading after this and I’m very willing to stand corrected if this was a one off and every thing else is well put together and thought through but suspect that’s not the case. I know MN is in no way perfect but just found it really nasty.

Some people are very funny when they're being mean! I can laugh at a witty take-down even if I disagree with it - and even if I'm the target. MN has its share of bitingly droll users but, these days, they get deleted. Tattle still has them ... maybe even the same posters, who knows?

ShiteRider · 07/04/2024 08:32

I came across Tattle because I was working with a very vulnerable young woman who set up a tik tok account just doing daft stuff and she was slated and bullied so much on Tattle that she ended up in a very dark place.

It was horrific the things they said about someone who was clearly unwell and developmentally delayed.

To dress that up as anything other than nasty anonymous bullying is pathetic.

Anything that harms morons trying to grift as influencers, (sorry - ‘content creators’ 🤮🤮🤮) is fine with me.

Influencing is not a job.

Yes it is a job! Some people earn significant amounts of money from it and pay tax from it. Which makes it a job, you'll find.

There are definitely Tattle and MN posters here as I’ve recognised at least one name which is the same. But as Tattle is seen as more vicious people sometimes deny that.

I don’t deny that on tattle it can get very easy to get very bitchy about someone quite quickly and I don’t necessarily think that’s good for one’s psyche.

A lot of people tax dodge from it too. Don’t try to defend your ‘job’ sweetie!

People who say it's bullying - is it really? Obviously if people go from there to troll influencers or other message boards then that crosses the line into bullying, but if it stays on Tattle and is just to blow off steam / voice opinions, then surely it's on the influencers or message-board users not to go a-googling themselves too deeply.

Zanatdy · 07/04/2024 08:37

I find it a pretty vile place. Some of them are slating minors which I find really distasteful and unnecessary and whilst some of the people I discuss I don’t particularly like, what they say is OTT. I don’t go on there anymore as it’s such a negative place

KanyeJohnWestTuna · 07/04/2024 08:38

Well some Tattlers think that either Aldi and Lidl (the flat packs) were from surrogate birth and not from Meg or the limited photos are of other people’s children.

Waiting to find out if any of these theories are proved correct!

“Influencers” who use their kids for monetary gain and post intimate details of their kids personal information (eg medical conditions, potty training, educational issues etc) deserve to be called out and if a tattle thread is the wake up call they need to protect their children then so be it.

Yes, there's lots of money to be made from it. Which is why pushback is to be expected and where there's a lack of integrity it needs calling out.

Like there are lifestyle types that post pictures of their isolated homestead in the mountains and having to hike 5 miles with a piano on their back or some such bollocks and they've got a road round the back 😂

I don't think people should get away with posting any old crap for the way it looks and expect nothing but the cash and dopamine hits to roll in.

I like it. It gives space to vent about horrible people.

I live near an influencer- absolutely awful woman who pimps out her children on the internet. But saying what I want to say about her locally / in the school playground (kids in same school) would cause distress for her children. And they have enough of that. She's a neglectful, narc of a parent too. So having a space to vent helps.

It does go too far. But it's a part of the world created by the moral vacuum of the influencers themselves.

Mrs Meldrum? 😂

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/04/2024 08:42

I was actually thinking today about influencers today and how long their lifespan is and if or when we’ll get fed up of them?

Agreed - still on so much that isn't declared.

it was Tattle that highlighted how many influencers were being disingenuous constantly promoting new products that were getting paid for but not declaring it as an ad.

these influencers get paid a fortune.

The mother of daughters scandal was a classic 😂

There are some horrible things posted on Tattle, but what I don't get is why the "influencers" would read the threads about themselves. And then get upset that they're being bullied. Wouldn't you just ignore the whole site?

The only times I've visited the site are when I've read posts like this on MN and gone off to nosey. A lot of it is very interesting and confirms what I suspected about certain people Grin

Maybe some people who are very media savvy or have a strong belief in themselves for some reason (rightly or wrongly). A lot of influencers though are not like that, plus they may be somewhat vulnerable and are seeking some validation through the attention of social media. Once they know there are a bunch of people discussing them negatively they feel they have to know what is being said.

It's one thing to pick up on people who may be doing something wrong such as pushing people to buy stuff or spreading misinformation, or even treating their kids badly. The character assassination stuff is wrong though.

Dollenganger333 · 07/04/2024 08:44

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain a lot of people are tax evaders - business owners I know of in my area are. It's not fair to assume all influencers are crooked or that all business owners are crooked.

I think people feel that influencers get paid for hardly doing anything and I don't really follow any but I'm also not going to get angry at them either.

Tiddlywinkly · 07/04/2024 08:45

I came across Tattle after I started following a few running influencers and thought some things they posted were a bit off (e.g. constant racing, merchandise peddling etc).

The threads on them confirmed to me a few things I had wondered. Overall, I avoid it though as does feel a bit 'sewer' after a few pages.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/04/2024 08:45

I know a well known influencer personally. She’s not a terrible person and influencing wasn’t her first career but she’s done some questionable things with her influencing including recently rehoming her dog which she got as a puppy and then had for maybe a year or so. Puppy was probably for grammable photos and stories and yes, it’s a disgusting way to treat an animal as disposable.

I love Tattle!

So do I, though I haven't been on for a while to post. They are absolutely scathing about stuff on there, plus some of the comments are hilarious!

Remmy123 · 07/04/2024 08:47

It's crazy to think these influencers business and livelihood is run through an app. Some had had accounts deleted or suspended and have set up a new account crying to the camera that its taken years to build their page up and to help get their account back.

what sort of shrewd 'business owner would rely just on an app to pay their mortgage.

crazy!

I’m not going into debates about which local businesses are tax evaders. You carry on pimping out your kids and not declaring gifts you receive as being ads for those businesses though…

Most of us are just waiting for the influencer bubble to burst which it’s looking like it is for a few when you’ll just have to get proper jobs like the rest of us and pay tax.

Dollenganger333 · 07/04/2024 08:51

I'm not an influencer - not sure why you're talking to me as if I am 😂.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/04/2024 08:52

My niece is a very successful influencer making shedloads of money (for absolute drivel 😂) and I dread the day Tattle starts talking about her.

Having said that, I do quite like Tattle and the complete lack of sanctimony is quite refreshing compared to MN.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/04/2024 08:53

The scary thing about influencers and bloggers is it can give some people inflated opinions of themselves including one woman I know (and posted about here) who assumed I was stalking her and thinks she’s some kind of minor Z list celeb in her own sad little world due to her travelling. She also has limited intelligence so is the ideal influencer/blogger vacuous type.

ShiteRider · 07/04/2024 08:53

They don’t just slag off influencers though? Unless things have changed dramatically in the last few years.

I went on for the reasons I mention above (which people are conveniently ignoring in order to justify their love of bullying) and felt so fucking horrible - and I’m not easily shocked - that I won’t go back on. If you’re on there and enjoying the vitriolic pile ons I genuinely think you have something missing in your life or need some sort of therapy.
