I saw a Stick Man in my room

I woke up around 2 am recently, and 'saw' the weirdest thing.

It was a stickman (like what you see on public toilets) 'running' through my bedroom. 'He' had no features as his face was a big black circle, but the vibe I got from him was that he saw me seeing him and had a very jolly, jovial and 'oops, ya caught me! What am I like?' kind of expression/energy. He found it all very funny.

It lasted about 2 seconds and afterwards, I lay there very bemused. I assumed it was some kind of dreamlike state, an overlap from being asleep and a sign of over exhaustion. However, when I googled it, lots of other people have had the same experience!

In fact, the general consensus was that these stick men were always 'on the go/innttansit somewhere', and they always reacted strangely when they realised they had been seen. The other interesting thing is that they often have a very jolly and jovial demeanor, just like my guy did.

I'm not coming at this from too much of a woo perspective, as I do think it was slee0 related. However, I do think it's a bit nuts to have seen this and then find out other people did too!

Did any of you ever see the Stickman?????

@BigMandsTattooPortfolio

"I once ‘woke up’ to see a headless figure wrapped in rags standing right next to the bed."

Fucking hell.

I wonder if this is where the gingerbread man story came from...I'm imagining this to look like a shadow off the gingerbread man.

Exact same here, including the centipede/ spider hybrid.
It's always so incredibly vivid and it's always scuttling high up.

Last week, a new variant made itself known: a purple and black mass, like a ball, but made up of individual strands that all moved and expanded and contracted.

I can remember it so vividly.

It's somewhat of a relief to know others experience it too.

I get things like too. Strange living organisms that pulsate and seem to respire or have some kind of flow.

I woke up once to see a huge tarantula on the wall above my head. I leaped out of bed and skinned my knees on the carpet 😫

I saw a black figure, about 4 foot 6 tall and very skinny, run in front of me when I was walking home one night. It was completely black from head to toe, like it was wearing a morph suit, and ran directly under a street light maybe 20 feet in front of me. It went onto the front lawn of a garden and then was gone, although there was nowhere for it to go to.
It scared the shite out of me.

Oh! Possibly another one!!!

I see spiders and also hear my children cry. I get up to check and they're fast asleep. Happens often

I hear the doorbell in these half awake situations, I have to force myself awake to stop being scared about someone ringing the bell at 2am. Never had a jovial stickman though.

YES!! And the door knocking!!

This is the 'slenderman'.

It's an urban legend that originated on Creepy Pasta, I believe.

Gurlabouttown · 08/04/2024 21:31

I also used to see a video camera hanging down in front of me! So bizarre. I'd get that occasionally when I was stressed or had a headache.

Been years since I saw anything.

RockTheRunway · 08/04/2024 21:46

@betterangels I spiders too, they first seem huge and then fade out and reduce as I am coming round to full consciousness.

RockTheRunway · 08/04/2024 21:49

@JaninaDuszejko I had the lour bell few times when I lived on my own and was a little insecure about safety in the rental flat. Never happen after moving to my own house.

LetsPlayShadowlands · 08/04/2024 23:02

I don't know why I found this so hilarious, including the added image of a stick man but specifying that he was running in the opposite direction 😂😂 HOWEVER I am 100% sleeping with my eye mask on tonight as I'd be terrified if I saw this!

Funny - it didn't look like an urban legend when I saw it.

My research suggested that it might have been a 'shadow person'. Whatever it was, I was wide awake, sober, and it was exactly as I described.

Hello everyone. Months later and tapping into this thread again. I got into bed at 8.30 last night. I wasn't tired and planned on just reading for a while. I looked at the corner of the room from where the stickman had come out of that night.

Its just an ikea kallax with pile of clothes folded up on top, with a large department store bag underneath it. It looked like there were countless teeny tiny specks of smoke particles swirling around extremely quickly, like really fast moving steam or smoke.

I looked and looked and couldn't stop looking, trying to rearrange my focus going closer and further away. It was difficult to see but also I impossible not to notice. I tried to video it and take a photo but it didn't come out. The movement looked far too deliberate and strategic for it to be smoke/steam or even dust.

It was very, very fast. I started sneezing and could not stop. I did not stop sneezing until 11.30!!! I went through an entire toilet roll in 3 hours! I ended up with a headache which lasted all night and I still have now. It felt weird and eerie. I took an antihistamine around 9 and it did nothing. I know it seems silly but it freaked me out and I did start thinking about stickman again afterwards.

For some reason your posts are reminding me of the book 'House of Leaves'. Like there's another reality somehow intersecting with ours?

No, it's not real, I've looked out of our bay window and seen noone at the door. Plus we live on a quiet street in a nice part of town, we don't get anyone walking past at night (we did in our old house and they regularly woke me up, once heard some drunk folk discussing the fact that our bedroom window was open so I switched the light on and they said 'Oh, shit' then carried on up the street, still blethering away at full volume 😂).

Gettingbysomehow · 28/09/2024 16:10

I've just had a psychiatric review as I have CPTSD and she said these hallucinatory experiences often happen when you are in REM sleep just about to wake up and appear to be very very real. I have had ghost like experiences during the night for years which are basically that and a reaction to stress so I just ignore them now.

Fordian · 29/09/2024 09:53

Well, I've read the entire thread with interest- I only get the phantom doorbell thing, but only if I wake earlier- say 7am but if I'm still tired (I've never slept well and I'm post-menopausal), I might decide to get another couple of hours sleep in. During that sleep, I get weird, vivid dreams, and occasionally the door bell.

However, I've just realised I'm sleeping alone in the house tonight! 😬

I'm very suggestible when it comes to woo so all the lights will be on!
