I saw a Stick Man in my room

I woke up around 2 am recently, and 'saw' the weirdest thing.

It was a stickman (like what you see on public toilets) 'running' through my bedroom. 'He' had no features as his face was a big black circle, but the vibe I got from him was that he saw me seeing him and had a very jolly, jovial and 'oops, ya caught me! What am I like?' kind of expression/energy. He found it all very funny.

It lasted about 2 seconds and afterwards, I lay there very bemused. I assumed it was some kind of dreamlike state, an overlap from being asleep and a sign of over exhaustion. However, when I googled it, lots of other people have had the same experience!

In fact, the general consensus was that these stick men were always 'on the go/innttansit somewhere', and they always reacted strangely when they realised they had been seen. The other interesting thing is that they often have a very jolly and jovial demeanor, just like my guy did.

I'm not coming at this from too much of a woo perspective, as I do think it was slee0 related. However, I do think it's a bit nuts to have seen this and then find out other people did too!

Did any of you ever see the Stickman?????

I’ve had the alien one. It was crawling on top of me and trying to get near my face. 😱

Suddenly I'm less freaked out about the spiders!

Gingernaut · 06/04/2024 15:10

I have auditory hallucinations, hearing my name being called by my late father (dead for 12 years) still freaks me out

I'm in a new job, where we listen to hold music and I'm starting to hear that a lot more

As a teen, still living at home, I used to get sleep paralysis. It'd feel like there was a dark malevolent presence in the room, a huge pressure would pin me to the bed, I'd feel myself and the mattress beneath me being pushed down and I'd hear the mattress springs creaking. I'd try to cry out for help but my voice wouldn't work. Then, like the flick of a switch I'd be awake, able to speak and the pressure and presence gone.

I only found out about sleep paralysis years after though. But during the years these incidents occurred I was terrified I was being haunted by something.

I was also in my room alone one day, during the day and awake, just staring out the window, and the room started to rock from side to side. I had to hold onto the window sill to steady myself.

Sometimes Id hear a mans voice and footsteps upstairs whenever I was alone at home.

When I heard of sleep paralysis it all made sense. Apparently trauma and stress is often the cause it, along with other 'woo' like experiences. I was living with an abusive parent & step parent and felt trapped and constantly stressed. When I moved into a place of my own, these incidents stopped. But then I ended up in another abusive relationship and the sleep paralysis started again. Ended that relationship, and lo and behold it stopped again.

Edited

This is interesting. I only had this when I was in a relationship with someone I loved very much at the time, but turned into a terrible relationship that near destroyed me.

I think my subconscious must have picked up that I wasn’t safe with that man before my conscious self did.

I used to work nights and was once absolutely exhausted. About 3am I was looking at the CCTV for the room that I was in and could clearly see a man in a top hat standing behind me.
When I looked behind me there wasn't anything there.
Look back at the CCTV and there he was again.

@BouleDeSuif 😮 I have seen things when fully awake. Dh was worried at the time but now when I mention it years later he thinks I'm mad. It's freaky when your fully awake

I actually did too. 10 year ago to be exact. I'd just found out I was pregnant with my first child and was sitting on the laptop doing something around 8pm at the end of August. We had cream blinds that were drawn as it was getting dark. I looked at the blinds and there were green sparkles buzzing around all over them. I did a comedy eye rub, like what you see in the old Disney movies and looked again. Still there. I kept blinking hard but they stayed there. Eventually I must have blinked hard one last tine and they were gone. I wasn't tired and definitely saw them. They were beautiful but I didn't feel good about them. That definitely happened.

I read something years ago, possible on here about a woman who was chased down her street late at night by one of the tall, creepy pasta type stick men…..he was like 10ft tall and oddly wearing a top hat! She made it to her house and got through the front door and locked it and she could hear/see him right outside bending down to peer through the glass at her 😁

I've had the loud knocking before

I used to have the somewhat frightening ones until I completely stopped watching news and violent television or movies.

I've had this several times. Except it's my Dad who is still alive. As clear as day. I text him to say hi just to check he's not dead 😬

Is there anything in your life that other people are forcing you to accept, or any way in which someone else is overriding your feelings because it suits them?

Yes, that is interesting. My DH is disabled so he generally gets put first, which is OK as it isn't his fault he is disabled but I desperately want to move closer to my DD. She lives in a city, we live in a small town in the south west. I hate it here, I feel alone and cut off. I'd love to be in a city again and I'd love to be able to see DD and GC more easily, do some childcare etc. He won't even discuss it, just says I can move when he's dead.

I hear the doorbell in these half awake situations, I have to force myself awake to stop being scared about someone ringing the bell at 2am. Never had a jovial stickman though.

I have the doorbell! Enough to get out of bed twice.

Yeah slenderman, that scares the shit out of me

I uses to get night paralysis when I was younger which was horrific but I've never seen jovial stick men

GalileoHumpkins · 06/04/2024 16:21

I once woke up and saw a woman crawling out of my wardrobe mirror, filthy arms, raggy hair and a really horrific face. It scared the shit out of me and I could swear I was properly awake at the time, even now I'm not sure that I didn't see her and was dreaming. Thankfully we moved and left the wardrobe behind.

(Apologies for format but can't quote a quote on the app)

But I've woken up several times to one of my kids shouting "MUM!!!" really loud. But must be an auditory hallucination. Didn't know it was a thing!

I had to text them too to make sure they were ok! First time I was terrified, was convinced they were shouting out for me somewhere and I'd felt their need! But no .... they were fast asleep in their home when I heard it!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. Your feelings matter too and it sounds like your subconscious mind is trying to get you to look into this more. I hope your husband has a change of heart.

@Schtickman your DH's attitude is awful.
It's your life too, don't waste it and do what's right for you

Thefutureisourownpath · 06/04/2024 16:52

I used to randomly wake up every single bloody night at 1 am and believe the smoke alarm was going off and then again at 4 am to the ring doorbell. It went on for years - tried everything - heating off. All gadgets out of the room. Sleeping pills as I was stupidly exhausted, year after year.

About 6 weeks ago - son was asleep in my bed as usually and all of a sudden he was beeping - he sleeps with his watch on and has had the same watch on his wrist for 3 years. Blow me down he has two alarms set one for 1 am and 1 for 4 am with different sounds.

I have deleted them off and now sleep through!

I hear the doorbell a lot too, and sometimes people speaking. I don't generally have any visual hallucinations though. The most memorable one was when I was watching The Fall on Netflix, I was only around three or four episodes in and I woke up with a start in the early hours because someone whispered in my ear "he's in the house" meaning the Jamie Dornan character. I was awake for ages listening out for any movement and afraid to put my bedside lamp on. I had to stop watching it.

I think you've had a bit too much cheese before bed!😂

I don't know how you camembert to have strange stickmen in your room!

Edit; hubby gave me a better pun! 😂
