I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

Well I was accused of lying about her, fantasising about her, told I wasn't speaking for the people of Edinburgh. I never even mentioned Edinburgh. All I said was she wasn't my hero. Maybe you'd like to defend me from that slander? Don't you think there is an overreaction if people aren't worshiping her? It all seems very odd. I suspect that there are lots of people like me who don't care one way or the other about her and yes I'm sure I will be told I should care but the fact is I don't.

Why would I defend you from that 'slander?' I didn't commit it. You're not only pixels on a screen, meaning your reputation can hardly be damaged by it, but read again. I never said it!

I am not defending myself on the basis of something others have said which I emphatically haven't. Your expectation that I should do so is ridiculous. If you don't understand this in clear terms then I really don't know how I can put it more plainly.

But in the interest of avoiding derailing this thread with this nonsense, this is the last time I shall reply.

Kelvin and Liz Fletcher both seem lovely, Fletchers Family Farm is like a warm hug and I really want their life!

Thought of someone else to add here… Timmy Mallett, he of nutty 80s early morning tv and slightly dodgy songs, now spends his days cycling around places (currently around northern island), painting, remembering his brother in “thin” places, saying hello to people and generally seems a nice guy. This is all based on Instagram, but I reckon (and hope) he’s a nice bloke

I met Timmy Mallett when I was 15. I asked him how Magic was and he looked at me like I was something he'd stepped in. It was during a live broadcast and he was his usual wacky self whilst on camera, but quite moody when not being filmed.

I wasn't bothered though as Take That were also there and all very lovely throughout 😊

Wasn't he a massive coke head back in the day?

So? Doesn’t make him a bad person. The operative term being ‘back in the day’

Another vote for Paul McCartney. My dp used to work at his place in Peasemarsh and Paul would always stop and chat to him if he was around. DP says Linda was lovely as well.

I know someone who went to school with one of the children from Paul's first marriage. That person and a few people I know say that Paul and Linda always behaved like any other parents, never expected preferential treatment.
(Paul and Linda sent their kids to local state schools; Heather insisted their daughter went private).

Henning Wehn lives in the next town to me and dp has got to know him. I've met HW a couple of times and he's a nice bloke.

I did some filming with Henning a few years ago, very likeable chap.

Gosh how could I have forgotten the Queen herself

Another vote for JK Rowling. She knows what it is to be poor and hasn’t forgotten by giving very generous donations to help support women, children and medical causes.

I don’t get how Johnny Depp can be thought of as a good man. I have no idea what happened between him and Amber, who lied or why. But those messages that he admitted to sending, horrible misogynistic messages that no man I’d want to be associated with would send, were a fact in that case. Even if you take the approach that he was a victim and pushed to an extreme place, writing about raping a dead woman to check she was dead? And I so wanted to believe in his goodness as was a big fan of him before.

The gorgeous 🥰 Johnny Depp, he dresses up as captain Jack Sparrow, and goes into children's hospital,!! He is also very generous with his money 😁

He has also done a lot to help our cat charity recently.

Michael Sheen seems to have a keen interest in supporting others.

Yeah, but he's really irritating as well 😂

As an aside, I recently started watching The Gentlemen and at first thought it was Kelvin Fletcher as the lead. I was thinking to myself, blimey he's got really hot since his time on Emmerdale 😂

hells fucking bells can we please just have at least one thread that doesn’t turn into the trans debate?

sometimes it’s ok to just shut the fuck up.

valensiwalensi · 06/04/2024 13:50

Donny Osmond is by far the most down to earth loveliest guy - met him through work and he absolutely charmed the pants off everyone.

Dave Grohl

Helena Bonham Carter

Kate Winslet

Kate Hudson/Goldie Hawn

Anne Hathaway

Keanu Reeves

Both no longer with us, but George Michael and Paul O'Grady.

Current celebrities? Maybe Harry Styles, no-one has ever commented on him being a twat.

Agree, and also re Ryan Reynolds

Esther Rantzen

No. I know from personal experience

Cheer yourself up with this clip of Cilla butchering a Lionel Richie classic.

The little Benny Hill at the front steels the show. Poor sparkly Cilla.

I would love to take Martin Lewis and James Timpson out for a drink and thank them for all they do for our society and the humanity they continually model.

A friend said Jeff Goldblum is the nicest celebrity she's ever worked with. 5/7 days contact with him every week over 6 months. He didn't put a foot wrong and was generous. She said the same of Tom Hanks after her two weeks with him.

Edited

James Timson? Are you kidding me. He's a wanker of the highest sort.
The videos he sent out to his staff during covid were a piss take. I don't work for him but I saw them.
The man is on another planet

TheGander · 06/04/2024 14:04

@Pluviophile1 that’s truly shocking. I can imagine the Yanks watching that and killing themselves laughing. She can’t dance, she can’t sing.

StasisMom · 06/04/2024 14:25

Mrsjayy that's right he did - I think the woman was on and didn't win, so he phoned the producers and passed on the money. It was secret till his death.

This is long, but a very good analysis of the depp/heard trial and how public opinion was manipulated:

I find all these long explanations quite amusing in that the MSM tried to do exactly the same as SM and lost.
It makes me wonder how many of these explanations are just put out there because MSM isn't as influential as it used to be.

He really does 🤣 What a star ⭐

OH and SIL do a jokey Xmas present every year, when they buy each other signed photos etc of really cringe celebs. Each xmas his framed, signed cilla pic gets put out with the decs just to annoy me. I put her face down every time I enter the room, or hide her depending on my mood.
