I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

JKR and Taylor Swift coming up in many of the same posts is very telling.

Why? I don't really know much about Taylor Swift other than she's a singer, she's mega rich, her boyfriend plays American Football I think, I might have the wrong sport. Actually add to that she is an attractive young woman.

That isn't bad in itself. It's one thing to be actively rude, and another to just not be super pally.

I meant that he was self-important when interacting with the crew. He cemented this by disappearing, sending the lackey for the bottle of booze and getting pie-eyed 🥴 in the motor 🚘

Oh sorry huge link but that's the IVF story

kerstina · 05/04/2024 19:22

Have to disagree with anyone who said Adele or Rod Stewart . Both very anti paying Tax back into the very country that made them successful with our education . Probably state schooled? Both went abroad to avoid paying tax. Why do people get so self centred like this.

She’s proven time and time again that she only supports feminist causes if they suit her. As in, it’s all base level and to make her look good, and sometimes to merely make herself not look bad for say/doing nothing.

Davina McCall

Same in reality as in Tv.

Good sort, called Jim Davidson a bit of a wan£&r.
Has a laugh, no fakery I could notice.

Westwood was someone I’d always disliked.
the whitest black person you’d meet.

It’s all an act. Had a decent chat at a club we were both gigging in and he’s not the person you see and hear on tv and radio.

This Westwood ?https://amp.theguardian.com/media/2023/oct/26/met-investigating-sexual-misconduct-accusations-against-tim-westwood

Met investigating sexual misconduct accusations against Tim Westwood | Tim Westwood | The Guardian

Former Radio 1 DJ has been interviewed under police caution over accusations four times this year, but has not been arrested

Esther Rantzen

Yes, I met her once and she was very pleasant and down-to-earth.

Marmalade43 · 05/04/2024 19:55

That’s the one.

Thank you for the explanation.

JKR coming out as the clear Mumsnet fave celebrity. I find this heartening

Emma Thompson flew 5400miles to take part in an Extinction Rebellion demo - hypocritical. Do as I say not as I do.

Themaghag · 05/04/2024 20:06

Renee Zellwegger. A friend was an extra on ‘Judy’ and said that Zellwegger insisted on staying at the same hotel as all of the cast and crew, was super sweet and friendly, very down-to-earth and ‘a really lovely woman’.

This story intrigued me, so I googled.

Same type of story, but different author. I wonder where the truth lies here?

Ooh. It's possible I misremembered and it was Peter James. It was an anecdote told at a crime writing conference so there were a few famous authors all on stage and I was sitting far back.

Whoever did it - I love them for mocking Amis's ridiculous self-importance.

Arthur2shedsJackson · 05/04/2024 20:13

I lived in London until recently and frequently used black cabs.
If we were chatting, I often asked the drivers who their worst celebrity fare was.
The most common answer was Graham Norton.
just saying.

AmaryllisChorus · 05/04/2024 20:15

Iwasafool · 05/04/2024 18:43

I did wonder as Lee Child was from Coventry and Martin Amis was from Oxford I think. Lee's family moved to Birmingham when he was a child and he grew up in Birmingham, I lived quite close to them.

Yes, I think I got the wrong author!

Maybe he's car sick. You wouldn't want to be driving my husband round, he gets very sick and very very grumpy.

Maybe Lee Child told the story about another author?

Charlotte Church for her principled stand on the atrocities in Gaza.
