I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

Ryan isn't a womanizer.

I'm not even sure why people think he's creepy?

He's a very devoted husband and father by all accounts.

hazandduck · 05/04/2024 00:53

@Josette77 I think most of his relationships have overlapped haven’t they? It’s just the impression I get, I’ve never met him or Blake and obviously their happy marriage is a big part of their image.

I adore Rylan. He seems genuinely absolutely lovely. I'm so glad he's done as well as he has.

I hope Alison Hammond is a lovely as she seems on the TV.

On that theme, Noel Fielding also seems very lovely in interviews etc.

My friend was staying in the same hotel as Alison and I can confirm she is lovely. She was staying on her own after her ex tried to blackmail her. She befriended them and hung out with them most nights. They said she was absolutely lovely.

Surprised by all the love for Ricky Gervais.

Friend said he expects things done for him because he's famous.

An animal lover does not always equate to a nice/good person.

Very true - my first ever trial as a junior lawyer was a libel/defamation case between former executives of an animal charity (not in the UK). It was carnage - references to Auschwitz, the number of the beast, death threats and horrible accusations flying around.

Nellle · 05/04/2024 01:02

Rob Beckett and Andy Murray come across as genuinely decent humans.

Surprised by the love for Ricky Gervais (unless it's purely the gender critical crowd lauding him). He strikes me as someone who quite clearly fucking hates nearly all people.

Kevin Sinfield

Chesney Hawkes

Ryan Gosling is meant to be a very kind fella. Clips of him stopping fights in the street etc. ( He's kind to me in my dreams anyway 😜

John Finnemore - we met him last weekend and he was utterly charming

HOWWWWW? I am extremely jealous…

Esther Rantzen

Whilst she has done enormous amounts for charity, particularly children's charities, the fact she admitted she knew what Jimmy Saville was doing to children and did nothing about it, is unforgivable for me.

Jamie Dornan. Down to earth. Funny. Doesn't take himself too seriously. Talks lovingly about his wife and kids.

His obstetrician father brought DD into the world! If Jamie is anything like his dad he is a truly lovely, down to earth man. Always love watching him on TV/ in movies and remembering hearing his proud dad telling me all about the early stages of his acting career during my scans in the early 00s

TheLadyIsAVamp · 05/04/2024 03:53

I have a bit of a soft spot for Aitch (the young rapper) he has done quite a bit for down syndrome charities as his sister has down syndrome, and he also gives a lot back to his community where he grew up in Manchester. Just seems like a nice lad who is very grateful for his success.

Alison Hammond is absolutely lovely in person.

Dolly Parton, King Charles, The Pope, David Attenborough, The Dalai Lama, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Ash Barty, J. K. Rowling, Kamahl, Kylie Minogue, Dame Quentin Bryce, Susan Boyle, Michael D. Higgins, Ukraine President Zelensky, many older British women actors.

Didn’t Kelly beat up one of her exs?

Two.

I think he's been pretty scandal free.

He was engaged to Alanis Morisette back in the day which always made him seem cooler to me

Not many Canadian super couples. Lol

I love Alanis's interviews. She's quite bright and engaging. I was always impressed he got her! 😉

Mercurial123 · 05/04/2024 05:34

My friend was a makeup artist and worked with Kate Moss. Down to earth and funny.

Agree with this. Someone I work with used to work at the BBC. ER refused to share a lift with anyone. So possibly not so nice.

decionsdecisions62 · 05/04/2024 05:44

Sarah Beeny seems nice. She's replied to a couple of my posts on instagram and been lovely.

AssassinsEyebrow · 05/04/2024 05:54

Ryan Gosling, seems incredibly genuinune

Surprised at all the love for Johnny Depp, I think he exposed his true self during both trials with Amber Heard

Re Ryan Reynolds - call me a cynic but I'm wary of anyone who buys up so much power & influence in one locality. I'm sure he's charm personified to everyone there - he has to be, doesn't he?

As to the argument about animal rights & supporters of which being horrible - some people think that backing a worthy cause gives them right to be abusive & foul to anyone who disagrees with them.

sashh · 05/04/2024 06:03

Kenny Daglish - who went to several funerals a day after Hillsborough out of respect for the fans who died.

I remember that. I think there was someone from the club at every funeral of those who died. I lived in the North West so the local news covered most if not all of the funerals.

His wife, Marina also offered a lot of support to the families along with some of the footballers wives.

I gave a very small donation to Kelly Holmes' charity when she stood up for women in sport. I got a personal thank you. I did not expect that.

Whu · 05/04/2024 06:06

Dolly Parton
P!nk
David Attenborough
Paul O Grady
Lewis Hamilton
Sara Cox

Top 3 are based on what I think from public perception, bottom 3 I have had the pleasure to meet and got a good impression of.

Lee Child tells a lovely story of bounding up to Martin Amis at some function and saying, 'Hi - we were at school together, and now we're both successful authors, who'd have thought it?' Amis said, 'I don't know who you are,' and walked away. So Lee Child wrote a character into his next book who was an absolute tosser called Martin Smallbone.

This story intrigued me, so I googled.

Same type of story, but different author. I wonder where the truth lies here?

Peter James on Martin Amis (Quote Unquote)

Posted by Stephen Stratford Never annoy a novelist, Part II. I blogged on Friday about how the crime writer Peter James was once snubbed by Martin Amis and swore to take his revenge in the next novel in his series featuring policeman Roy Grace. I am re...

Ryan Reynolds second job is in fighting CSAM

Josette77 · 05/04/2024 07:35

Blake is fighting against childhood sexual abuse too. She gives a heartbreaking speech about it you can find on YouTube.

I think they are both just really good people.
