I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

@Churchview perhaps have a search on here for his name...! It's nothing to do with his food though.

Hair! Nooooooo. Why?

I'm hoping it was an accident (tries to imagine how that could happen and fails).

I hope he washed his hands before he cooked my dinner.

Iwasafool · 04/04/2024 17:39

Steve Backshall, took GC to see his show and at the end he announced he'd be coming out to the lobby to do authographs/selfies with anyone who wanted to. He was so lovely with the children.

Brigitte Bardot was vile to her own child

And is also super Islamophobic. And I'm not someone who sees that everywhere, I think a lot of what is labelled Islamophobia is nothing of the sort but Bardot is sadly the real deal.

Ricky Gervais and Brian Blessed. Both have got massive egos, but I suspect they’ve got good hearts as well. Both militantly against animal cruelty (which is always a good sign) and heavily involved in charity work. I also get the impression that Gervais really doesn’t take himself seriously at all.

Olivia Coleman has a warm and beautiful smile. Susie Dent seems lovely. I’d be gutted to meet Stephen Fry and dislike him. I always sensed that the writer Martin Amis was quite decent.

I think someone who is able to write something like Afterlife has to be a decent human being. Also listening to him talk about his absolute adoration of dogs is lovely.

betterangels · 04/04/2024 17:43

Anthony Head is so lovely. A shame to read about Gillian Anderson.

Tom Cruise always seems a nice guy. I read when Kirsten Dunst was little ,and did a film with him .he had a Christmas tree put up in her room for her .Also does all his own stunts and is a qualified pilot

I'm not sure Katie Holmes would agree with you!

peppermintsforall · 04/04/2024 17:47

Jamie Dornan - he is stunningly gorgeous but thankfully come across as the most lovely, funny down to earth chap who adores his wife and kids.

Keeping the Irish theme, Paul Mescal has seemed lovely in any interviews I've seen him in.

So proving the point made up thread that not all people who are pro animal rights are actually nice people.

Rylan always comes across as throughly warm and decent to me. People often make assumptions based in his look and accent, which infuriates me.

I adore Rylan. He seems genuinely absolutely lovely. I'm so glad he's done as well as he has.

I hope Alison Hammond is a lovely as she seems on the TV.

On that theme, Noel Fielding also seems very lovely in interviews etc.

grohl19 · 04/04/2024 18:01

Dave Grohl

My aunt and uncle met Paul a few times many years ago and said he is really nice and down to earth.

This is absolutely true. A different friend has a 20yr+ connection with him (it would be outing for my friend to say how).

Needless to say, he will tell you how wonderful Paul is, how generous and kind. My friend is regularly invited to parties Paul hosts, even though the connection they have mean that's unusual. Paul invites lots of people with that similar connection to my friend, due to his generosity.

My friend has met several friends of Paul's through the years, both slebs and non sleb. The last one I remember him talking about meeting was the singer in Keane, who was apparently very pleasant.

Oh yes Steve Backshall!

Sandi Toksvig. She called me 'sweetie' once at a book signing. I nearly died.

Tracy Chapman.

Joan Armatrading.

I'm trying hard to think of some non-lesbians and I'm struggling!

Ryan Reynolds unsettles me

I like Reynolds, but I think much of Reynolds is a persona he projects rather than what he might actually be like.

angeldelightisyummy · 04/04/2024 18:10

Jordan North. Seems to be much the same as he was when I knew him (11-16) Decent cheeky chappy.

A friend worked, slightly indirectly, for Kanye West on a project. Nightmare to work for, took ages to get the money he owed them. This was just before he went off the rails.

Moving away from music, media etc. Hilary Benn is one of the most decent men you could meet. Polite, listens, asks questions to get an understanding, Remembers previous meetings. Loves a good cup of tea.

I like Caroline Quentin felt so sorry for her when the model Caprice publicly used her as an example of an unattractive woman, she’s far from it.

What a nasty thing to say. Caprice was never known for her talent though, was she? I'd prefer to be known as a good actor than for looking good in a bra 20 years ago.

DavesSpareDeckChair · 04/04/2024 18:12

peppermintsforall · 04/04/2024 17:38

Excuse my ignorance but what / who do you mean by Alice and Well?

I could be wrong but I vaguely remember the Foos being involved with some dodgy Aids charity a few years ago (offering bogus cures or saying Aids wasn't real or something like that). I think that might be what pp is referring to.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 04/04/2024 18:14

RosaBaby2 · 04/04/2024 18:05

Oh yes Steve Backshall!

You mean Steve Backshall who has apparently behaved inappropriately with a younger female (sexual assault?)?

Whatwouldnanado · 04/04/2024 18:15

Michael Ball seems like a good egg.
Lorraine Kelly
Ben Shepherd

Plus she isn't exactly hot stuff herself these days. These bimbo types usually age like milk and Caprice is no exception.

TWETMIRF · 04/04/2024 18:16

Joe Wilkinson has always given me the impression that he's lovely in real life. I heard him on an episode of a snooker podcast that I listen to and he was a world away from his working persona.

I met Kerry Katona once, not long after it came out that Bryan cheated on his stag do. She was really lovely and chatted to us for ages.

Another vote for JKR and Glinner

bellinisurge · 04/04/2024 18:17

Keanu Reeves appears to be a decent bloke

bellinisurge · 04/04/2024 18:18

Yeah it was back in 2000 it was a organisation called Alive and well, whose scummy founder died of AIDS and her daughter sadly did too.

He has since supported other AIDS Charity's so I think saw light.
