Anyone remember Rod Jane and Freddy?

This is showing my age a bit but for some reason Rod Jane and Freddy came into my mind this morning and I was wondering who else remembers them?!

Pipkin's will never be the same.

Roger was with Rod and Jane for four years! He was the third one of my childhood (early 70s baby) and Freddie the newbie. I was a bit old for Rainbow when Freddie joined.

Roger left to concentrate on acting, his most memorable role being Bunny in Eldorado who was a middle aged bloke with a child bride.

Don’t know if he and Jane ever hooked up though.

Topov the monkey with the cinnamon whirl ears. Hartley Hare looked like he had myxomatosis. I named a pet rat Pipkin.

Rosie and sodding Jim. Eldest was a terrible sleeper, so I was regularly trying to doze on the sofa at 3am watching videos of these creepy little weirdos and their, quite frankly, odd, owner John. The butterfly one is etched on my brain like a fungus

Yes, I utterly adored Hartley Hare. Despite the fact that he looked like he had a bad case of the mange / myxomatosis.

I'm too scared to Google that, as I'm really not sure what to expect.

I certainly do. I took my offspring to see them on tour. They loved it.

Of course I meant hare! 🤣 was typing while watching MAFSAU! Someone having their hair styled!

I used to hate Pob. That puppet that was on an unpoplar time slot on BBC2 I think, rather than with the cool afternoon gang on the children's hour after Play School. He spat all over the TV screen. Filthy little wretch.

Pob was on channel 4.

Does anyone remember that Playschool used to have real white mice in a clear perspex thing and goldfish called Bit and Bob? (I think?)

I remember the white mice in Playschool! I was always very curious about the geography of Playschool as I thought it was an actual house but I couldn't work out how the different areas fitted together. I wasn't familiar with the concept of a TV studio.

Andy Pandy Looby Loo and Teddy were another trio on Watch with Mother. Someone sent me a link to the original series last year, it was so weird to see the puppets then.

On this trip down memory lane does anyone remember Button Moon? I loved it when I was a child! Mr Spoon, Tina Teaspoon, Ragdoll, Freddy Teddy and the cucumber sandwiches which couldn't stop burping!

70s and 80s kids tv was the best.

Button Moon used to creep me out a bit, but I still remember the theme tune!

I can't remember Button Moon being creepy, but some things seem to have amalgamated into one for me. I'm thinking now about Let's Pretend, which has led me to remembering Willo the Wisp and Dr Snuggles.

All of these things were out when I was about 11 or 12, so actually too old for them, but we watched them in an 'ironic' way when either home for lunch or after school.

Thinking about it, my DD does the same now. Sometimes re watching the stuff she watched in her younger years.

I had a doll called Hamble who was named after the doll in Play School. I thunk I also ended up with a rag doll called Jemima.

Has anyone mentioned Bod or Finger Bob's, yet?
