It's Count Binface/Lord Buckethead for me. I don't think he could do a worse job than his predecessors.

Khan for me. Just to piss all the gammon off. 😂

But on a serious note - I also agree with his policies, really approve of ULEZ.

Midnightrunners · 14/04/2024 20:50

Nigel Farage.

He's not running and wouldn't win in London. We're mostly not racist idiots.

JessS1990 · 13/04/2024 18:37

I wonder how his garden bridge and airport in the sea are progressing?

Well, quite.

Babymamamama · 14/04/2024 23:43

I’m Khan all the way. He isn’t perfect and I don’t really like his communication style but would hate to see ULEZ reversed after we have come this far.

LondonLass61 · 15/04/2024 00:25

Londoner here. Voting for Khan - he called out Cressida Dick, stopped the insane Garden Bridge, air quality has improved and I'm all for the free school dinners. He's also a 1000% improvement on Johnson and he's right about Brexit. Loads of non Londoners appear to have very strong racist opinions about him and yet say f* all about the damage done by Johnson.

Khan obviously since Susan Hall is another batshit Tory.

Absolutely this.

Rollercoaster1920 · 15/04/2024 01:49

Which candidate is most likely to unblock the shambles of Hammersmith Bridge? If a conservative government then not Khan. But if Labour win the general I wonder if money will be found to get an operational bridge?

If the conservatives win the general then Susan Hall doesn't seem to know Hammersmith and Fulham borough, also that borough is likely to remain Labour, so stalemate on getting a bridge persists.

Any other candidate is unlikely to be able to find a magic money tree. What a mess. Still, makes Barnes almost a private neighbourhood for those that live there.

LlynTegid · 15/04/2024 07:39

A reminder that there is the London Assembly elections too, which are not a forgone conclusion and for which there is a form of PR.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/04/2024 08:24

Always Khan

ULEZ is great

Jklmo59 · 15/04/2024 12:42

Just out of interest.. those who are backing Khan because of ULEZ. Did any of you have to go through the struggle of finding money you don't have to buy a new car when he introduced the ULEZ?
It effected the poorest the most, those who couldn't afford to get a new car but would be have to pay a toll daily/be fined if they didn't.

I'm one of the many londoners that down own a car. Too poor.

I like ULEZ. I like mini Hollands and school streets. I like cycle lanes and I love seeing rows and rows of cars with one person in sitting in traffic whilst my bus whizzes past in a bus lane.

My car - which I bought second-hand 9 years ago for £6k - is 13 years old and petrol powered and I don’t have to pay ULEZ.

Fullofpudding · 15/04/2024 12:57

My husband's 3 year old diesel eco van was no longer compliant!!! Didn't get a pay out as we don't live in a London borough. We live on the edge of it.

workingtowards · 15/04/2024 13:04

I'm a Londoner. Another vote for Khan here. I have just got back from Ho Chi Min, where the pollution is so bad, you can taste the petrol fumes in the air - a real eye opener. I am very grateful that he has been brave enough to bring in the ULEZ charges. 96% of cars are now compliant in London, so it is only a tiny percentage of people that it affects. We and our children are benefiting from the clean air. It is a real achievement and it would be crazy to undo it.

The poorest people in London don’t have a car. They’re also the people most likely to be affected by poor air quality https://trustforlondon.org.uk/news/london-inequalities-infect-the-air-we-breathe/#:~:text=In%20London%2C%20the%20poorest%20households,in%20the%20last%2010%20years.

Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah lived only 20 minutes away from me - I think ULEZ is an essential initiative. It's one of the main reasons I'll be voting again for SK. I'm in no way what you would describe as well off but I do recognise that this is much needed.

Exactly. Car ownership in London in strongly correlated with wealth.

"Of the households that earn less than £10,000, 78% do not own a car and 64% of households that earn between £10,000 and £19,999 do not own a car. In outer London, 70% of households that earn less than £10,000 annually do not own a car and 53% of households that earn between £10,000 and £19,999 do not own a car." - Source is https://www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/what-london-assembly-does/questions-mayor/find-an-answer/car-ownership-london

I have a 21 year old ULEZ compliant car (which I only use to travel out of London as children in Home Counties)

I get public transport every day

I prefer better air quality.

I'd be happy if they banned cars in London, including mine. And I would park it outside London for when I needed to use it.

I've already posted on here that I'm voting Lib Dem. But as the weeks have progressed I can only say that "want" is a very strong word in this context. Mire like: I feel obligated to vote, what is an option I can live with.

No I didn't go through that but the vast majority of people running a car in London don't need to.
You hear so many excuses but for the most part they're rubbish. My old neighbour once said they had to have their huge Chelsea tractor because the kids did an activity on Saturday morning. It was a 15 minute walk away, with the option of two buses to take.

We're now in a LTN so that drive can take an hour.

Another neighbour complained the ltn made a 5 minute drive take 40+ minutes but they have fancy bikes? And perfectly usable feet. They're always jogging and doing tricep dips on the bench by the school so why drive somewhere so close?

There are some people who do genuinely need a car but there's a lot of people who lack the imagination to consider living without them.

Improving air quality and decreasingly traffic is in everyone's interests.

Yes, me too! I asked a previous poster to explain why they ‘loathed’ Khan but got no response. He seems to arouse a visceral dislike in a small minority of people and I’m curious to find out why.
