It's Count Binface/Lord Buckethead for me. I don't think he could do a worse job than his predecessors.

So who do you want to be the next Mayor of London?

SUVs should be restricted I agree, as a matter of national government policy.

As for London Mayor, given the Tories have removed second choice voting, Sadiq Khan is a less bad option that Susan Hall.

Vote for one of the smaller parties for the London Assembly, to ensure the Mayor cannot get his or her budget through without involving other parties.

The latest ULEZ expansion was not "asked for by the government". That paragraph references the expansion in 2021, up to the north and south circular roads.

It does NOT mention the latest 2023 expansion, which was to pretty much the entirety of every London borough, some of which are practically rural towards their outer boundaries. That was completely Khan's decision.

I haven't a clue who to vote for this time around. Khan is hopeless. Susan Hall is just awful.

Yup. This is one of the great political deceits of the last decade. A “source close to the Mayor” spread this falsehood via the Daily Mirror and it’s entrenched itself since.

Here’s the truth:

https://fullfact.org/online/ulez-expansion-letter/

ULEZ expansion to the M25 has nothing to with the government. It’s Khan alone.

StarlightLady · 31/03/2024 17:36

To date Susan Hall has:

  1. Liked Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech on Twitter.
  2. Thought that Hammersmith and Fulham were 2 separate London boroughs.
  3. Claimed her handbag was stolen on the tube and neglected to say it was hande in and returned to her with all her belongings including cash and cards.
  4. Body shamed and abused a woman on Twitter calling her fat.

Mayor of London? Really?

SquirmOfEels · 31/03/2024 17:52

I’m more OK with Khan than I used to be. I approve of tacking air quality and of rearranging road layouts to give pedestrians and cyclists safer routes

But his much-vaunted initiative on knife crime has really flopped and there are other areas I’m dissatisfied with.

I don’t however support any of the other main party candidates though. So it’s either Binface or an independent candidate for me

(If Count Binface does get a high vote share, I hope that’ll be a strong signal that everyone else needs to up their game enormously)

GKD · 31/03/2024 18:37

I’m an outer Londoner (z6) who will be voting for Khan.

He hasn’t done a bad job considering how hard the govt has made it for him.

BTW I‘ve just sold a 10 plate ULEZ compliant car for £500, you’d be surprised how old/cheap compliant cars can be.

Tube covid

Why Transport for London's finances are far from healthy

The prime minister and London's mayor have clashed over TfL's finances. What is the bigger picture?

Anyone but Khan.

This x 1000.

Notice he's not ventured into Outer London since the ULEZ debacle.

Not true. He’s been campaigning in Kingston, Harrow and Merton during the last few weeks. None of those are Inner London.

But has he in all honesty

The underground is not a good place for healthy air

I think you don't quite understand how air pollution works. Yes, the air in the underground isn't great. But reducing air pollution will mean far less particulates in the air where we spend most of our lifes. In fact improving the external air will improve the quality in the underground.

Growlybear83 · 01/04/2024 00:19

I'll be voting for Sadiq Khan again but it's so I a shame the voting system has changed because I really enjoyed voting for Count Binface in the last election.

pickytube · 01/04/2024 00:53

Khan all the way. Once you remove the tabloid trash prejudices, a lot of Londoners appreciate all the work he has done for London despite all the challenges he faces.

ULEZ does not extend to all areas in the M25, just London boroughs.

I hope Khan gets in again, there's going to be nothing like watching racists and racist apologists lose their mind if he gets in for a third term and they'll go around throwing around words like dictatorship and islamists 🙄

Around half of Londoners are expected to vote for Khan. So probably little need to hope!

The Hammersmith and Fulham thing related to the closure of Hammersmith Bridge.

I think it’s interesting that she clearly isn’t on top of in an issue that previous Tory candidates might have used to galvanise support in SW London.

It’s as though she isn’t interested in voters who are pro green policies and relaxed about immigration, but who have voted for Johnson/Goldsmith/Cameron in the past.

Bit of a silly thing to say. Most don't want him in because of the amount of grief he has caused Londoners, he's an awful mayor. Nothing to do with his ethnicity/skin colour. If that's the first thing you think of then maybe you're the racist
