Best way to make a bacon sandwich

I've just had a bacon sandwich 😍

I don't eat bacon very often because I only like it the way I cook it at home- very well done with every single bit of fat cut off. I make myself a bacon sandwich maybe once a month when I get a craving, probably a good thing given the way I like to cook it!

IMO this is the only way to make a bacon sandwich:

All the fat cut off
Fried in too much butter til basically caramelised
On white bread or sourdough with more butter and brown sauce

Served with a glass of orange juice with bits.

Surely this can't be topped!

I grill mine. Much healthier

I don't often have a bacon sandwich so when I do it has to be right.
Sliced white bread. Couple of slices of streaky fried until crispy plus a couple of slices of back (fat removed).
Bread buttered, bacon and sauce of choice (sometimes brown, sometimes ketchup) added, then whole thing fried in the bacon fat.
Don't mind if the bacon is smoked or unsmoked.
Having a hot cross bun this morning though Smile

Ditto all fat cut off, fried in just a film of oil, very fresh bread, white or seeded, I don’t care, a thin spreading of butter, HP sauce on both sides of bread, or else sliced tomatoes added.

@Yourethebeerthief sounds perfect to me. Love a bacon sarnie.

LenaLamont · 29/03/2024 09:55

First, toast the bread. After that, everything is negotiable.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 29/03/2024 09:58

No, leave the fat on so it gets lovely and crispy. Add ketchup as well as brown sauce and use white sliced bread.

DuploTrain · 29/03/2024 09:59

I always grill it until the fat goes crispy. I find it gets too salty if it’s sitting in all its fat in a pan.

I had bacon just now but not in a sandwich because I'm not that keen on bread but I had a sheet of puff pastry to use up and some bacon, so I divided the pastry into four rectangles then spread some Dijon mustard on them. Put a rasher of bacon on each rectangle, sprinkle with grated cheese and put a couple of slices of tomatoes on top. Fold over two of the corners, egg wash and in the oven 200c for 20/30 minutes. Delicious!

I grill it till crispy then cut the fat off

Tisfortired · 29/03/2024 10:08

I also don’t have it often because I’m very fussy and try to eat less processed meat but when you need a bacon butty you need a bacon butty.

The perfect bacon butty for me is two pieces of warburtons toastie loaf from a fresh packet - lovely and squashy. Both pieces buttered. Bacon is grilled until very crispy but not burnt. Approx a tbsp of ketchup drizzled over. 🤤

ETA must be smoked bacon.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/03/2024 10:17

Unsmoked bacon, done under the grill until crispy - fat left on. Lightly toasted bagel thin, with butter on one side, and brown sauce on the other.

This is a hill on which I am willing to die.

Grill bacon add to two slices of unbuttered Warburton's orange packet bread. Eat with a mug of tea.

It sounds boring, but my God it's heaven.

12 minutes in the air fryer gets the fat nice and crispy without cremating it.

Then serve in a buttered morning roll if outwith Scotland and a well-fired roll is not available.

PS don't ruin it with sauce

Love the saltiness. Has to be smoked bacon too.

Unsmoked! I'll meet you at the top of that hill. I'm juiced up with bacon sandwich energy and ready to fight.

In the ninja for eight minutes, in the other drawer tiny tomatoes for four.
A nice rip avocado.
White seeded bread, butter one side, HP both sides.
Smash avocado, lay on the bacon and top with tomatoes.
Delicious!!

LoserWinner · 29/03/2024 10:46

Smoked streaky cooked in the oven till crisp, white bread and marmalade. Try it - it’s wonderful!

treacledan71 · 29/03/2024 10:57

If one good day I have just the top bit of back bacon on thin brown bread. . Cooked well done.

If having a bad day I have back bacon cooked in oven until really burnt on thick white. Always have brown sauce on both.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 29/03/2024 11:02

I bake back bacon on a rack over a baking tray in a hot oven. Crispy fat and no curling up. Serve on a white barm cake, split and dipped in the fat from the bacon. Tomato ketchup. I cannot get behind trimming off the tasty bacon fat then frying the bacon in anything.

bluecomputerscreen · 29/03/2024 11:06

fat cut off but using the fat to fry it.

that , plus a fried egg sunny side up inside a toasted english muffin.

Maddy70 · 29/03/2024 11:09

Streaky bacon in the air fryer. Crispy. Losds of ketchup on a very soft white bun

Moltenpink · 29/03/2024 11:10

Just had mine

Fresh white Jackson’s loaf
butter
smoked bacon, fat on but not too much. Crispy
burger cheese slice
fried tomatoes, lightly seasoned

It was so so good

idontlikealdi · 29/03/2024 11:16

Really soft white bread, butter.

Streaky bacon cooked until almost
Crumbly in the oven.

RustyBear · 29/03/2024 11:19

Unsmoked streaky, fat on, cooked till crispy, two slices of thickly buttered white bread - NOTHING ELSE!
