I had it growing up in the 70s. Quite liked it but the liver had an unusual texture. Not sure I'd fancy it these days

I do, when ds is away for a few nights. Lambs liver with onions.

I also eat baked haddock on garlicky puy lentils, and poached rhubarb & creme fraiche. All sorts of foods he doesn't like. 😀

IDontHateRainbows · 24/03/2024 22:29

Bloody love it.

Can still get it as a ready meal in most of the nig supermarkets

When growing up in the 6os and 70s, liver with mash and greens was usual, a big slab of lab or pig's liver. Quite hard.

I still eat warm chicken liver salads. Delicious.

Are you Korean?

It is one of my DC's favourites so before they went to university we had it every couple of months as a sort of treat ; liver, bacon and onion gravy with mashed potatoes and peas.I would buy lamb's liver if they had it.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 24/03/2024 22:36

Are you Korean?

No. English. Liver was a cheap meat option for working class families, and I still eat it now as an easy way to keep protein levels up, now I'm nearing 70.

catinthetinhat · 24/03/2024 22:44

Only in a restaurant

YourWinter · 24/03/2024 22:49

I like liver and bacon with onions and mashed potato. British lambs’ liver, NEVER New Zealand lamb.

BirthdayRainbow · 24/03/2024 22:51

I've just remembered I have some in the freezer so will make it this week. I'm 52.

Fixerupper77 · 24/03/2024 22:52

I had surgery to remove a quater of my liver and my discharge summary included “Eat liver”!

I tried it - I preferred cows liver to lamb as I found that far too rich and irony.

it was ok in small amounts but I would much rather eat a steak for the iron!

ilovesooty · 24/03/2024 22:54

I ate liver regularly as a child. I still like it and order it often in Indian restaurants.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 24/03/2024 22:55

My dh loves it but to me it is an older generation thing (he is 10 years older than me)

Notthatcatagain · 24/03/2024 22:55

With mash and green, onion gravy. I love to eat it but not so keen on cooking it

Davros · 24/03/2024 23:23

I regularly eat M&S liver and bacon ready meal although I haven't seen it for a while (I've looked). I go to a restaurant now and then that serves devilled kidneys, delicious, a real treat

AdaColeman · 24/03/2024 23:32

Yes, I love all kinds of offal, and eat them frequently.

ClemmyTine · 24/03/2024 23:36

Not had it for ages but I do have 2 ox hearts in the freezer.
I might get some liver now you've reminded me..

Cleaningupthemess · 24/03/2024 23:39

I’m 63 and we had liver, onion, mash and cabbage for school dinners. It was the only school meal I dreaded. We used to have a member of staff sitting at the end of each lunch table. One time we had the headmaster at ours. I absolutely worshiped him. I must have been about 6 or 7 and was struggling to saw my way through the rubbery hunk of liver. My knife came up against what must have been some sort of artery/vein or whatnot. A chunk of liver flew off my plate and whopped the headmaster on his forehead. I was absolutely mortified and burst into floods of tears. He was very kind about it and unlike most of the other teachers didn’t yell/hit or keep my in at playtime. I loathe the wretched stuff and don’t have very nice associations with it 😀

Margritte · 24/03/2024 23:41

I love liver and onions. I did buy a ready meal version on a whim a few weeks ago and it was bloody horrible though.

I prefer chicken livers as a rule though, with a quick balsamic reduction, rocket leaves and a chunk of bread.

PauliesWalnuts · 24/03/2024 23:43

I am sometimes a fussy eater for “normal” foods eg you’d never catch me eating sweetcorn, tuna, baked beans, Chinese food, or Coca Cola, but I love liver. I come from a northern working class family and we’d have offal weekly - lambs liver and onions, braised heart, kidneys on toast - scrummy. I preferred liver and onions to liver and bacon. My mum found a recipe called Mexican Liver in a Good Housekeeping cookery book years ago which was lovely - baked in the oven with a tin of tomatoes and peppers and onions,

Caswallonthefox · 24/03/2024 23:44

Nope.
Liver and apple casserole, done in the pressure cooker with mashed spuds as a side, was a meal in the 70's. I'd rather eat a flip flop.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 24/03/2024 23:49

We love lamb’s liver and also steak and kidney pie. Don’t all meat eaters love a bacon sandwich?

Snugglemonkey · 24/03/2024 23:52

In what form? My mum cooked a liver thing so gross I vomited every time I was made to eat it. Even the smell makes me think of cold liver being pushed into my mouth.

Weirdly, I love some liver. Duck, chicken . Hmm, even then. I do not want to dirupyt

chattyness · 24/03/2024 23:54

I make it for us with !and liver in the slow cooker , I can't stand d the texture of liver but the flavour it adds to the gravy is amazing , so both of us enjoy the bacon, onions and gravy but only my husband eats the actual liver

laughinglivingloving · 24/03/2024 23:54

I adore it.
Hairy bikers have a fantastic recipe.
Key is not to overcook it!

Delish served with buttery mash 🤤🤤

therealcookiemonster · 24/03/2024 23:55

Muslim so no bacon.... but looove liver. can't get enough of it. my fav is chicken liver barbecued with tandoori spices. also love grilled lamb/beef liver. liver curry (it is usually dry and very spicy) with any type of liver also great. I have it every few weeks at least. in Bangladesh we make samosas filled with cubed, cooked beef liver and potatoes with curry spices. amazing.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/03/2024 23:57

Once a month at least, love it in this house. Only chicken livers though.
