How many children do you have?

My friend and I were talking about how many children we would like to have. I currently have 3 year old twins and while it's been tough I'd love to have a big family of possible 5 kids. My friend thought I was bonkers and that that's far too many and she's content with her 3 mth old son.

How many do you have?

I have 3. Two boys age 10 & 8 and a girl age 3. It's not always easy and as they're growing up many different things to deal with but despite that I wouldn't change it. What I will say is the more you have It's harder to give each of them one to one time.

I have 1 child, 3 step children. No shared children.

My child is 8 and loves the idea of a younger sibling.

My family is already bigger than I anticipated so another is unlikely.

I’m quite sad about about it tbh.

heartbrokenof · 24/03/2024 23:50

2, if we could afford a bigger house Id have another but we can't and I'm already 33 so that's it I think! I have a 4 yo and a 1 yo

I have 2.
I was one of 5.
I’m glad I only have 2.

Enko · 24/03/2024 23:52

4

They are the most amazing experience of my life. Wouldn't have been without them.

I was 1 of 3 hated it dh one of 4 loved it. So we agreed on an even number 2 or 4 or 6. Settled w 4.

Berlinlover · 24/03/2024 23:54

I don’t have any children. I have two stepdaughters, they are only 6 and 8 years younger than me 😊

StrawberryTwister · 24/03/2024 23:56

4, if I had my time again I would only have 1.

NotCute · 24/03/2024 23:56

Five

GrandTheftWalrus · 24/03/2024 23:56

I have 2. They are 7 and 2.

If I had money/space/health I'd have another but as I'm 40 this year and dh is 42 I think we are too old.

I don't feel "done" but such is life.

Yozzer87 · 25/03/2024 00:02

4 and I have a friend's baby every other day and an overnight stay a week.

Deadringer · 25/03/2024 00:02

I have 5 and I love it, most of the time anyway. Mind you I am from a family of 14!

MaknaeLine · 25/03/2024 00:53

One. I'm an only child too, so it feels natural to me.

DH is one of 5 and wanted a big family until DD was born 14 weeks prematurely with numerous labour-intensive disabilities.

DD is incredible but now DH is even surer than me that we're sticking at one.

Blobfishy · 25/03/2024 01:32

One. He's 2. Planning on one more. I'm one of 3, and although I love having both a brother and a sister, it would be too many children for us!

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 25/03/2024 01:36

I have one at the moment. I would like 3-4 but I don’t know if that will happen. It would be lovely to have a big family but at the same time my son is amazing and if I just had him I would still be very happy and grateful.

justjuggling · 25/03/2024 02:41

I have two teenage daughters. If I could have my time again, I’d probably stick at one.

MakeALeft · 25/03/2024 02:49

We wanted 2 and have 2. Anymore would be too chaotic for me and I’d struggle to give them as much time as I wanted.

MariaVT65 · 25/03/2024 03:05

I have 2 and stopping at that.

I told my DH I either wanted 2 or none. I would have been lonely as an only child, and my DS would have eventually had no living family due to older make up of my family, with one side estranged.

Not having any more as we are exhausted, no local support, nursery is emptying my bank account, can’t afford a bigger house, and I couldn’t be less interested in going through pregnancy again or having a 3rd c section.

Pinkchicken85 · 25/03/2024 03:11

3 under 5 years old. It’s a handful.

Icehockeyflowers · 25/03/2024 03:14

Two. If I could choose, I'd only have one.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 25/03/2024 03:30

As of 27 hours ago, 3! 🥰 Two girls who are 10 and 3 and now a boy too. We were on the fence about having 3 but, now he’s here, we know we made the right decision. His sisters adore him already and he finishes our family perfectly.

We know we’re done now as well whereas I didn’t feel done after our DDs. A difficult end of my pregnancy and a really traumatic birth have just added the cherry on top of our decision for DH’s vasectomy.

Beezknees · 25/03/2024 06:00

One. Do not want any more.

staybyyou · 25/03/2024 06:08
  1. I'd love a third but there are many many good reasons to stick at two.
NewbieParentMango · 25/03/2024 06:20

One - newborn!

I'd like one more in the future but with a gap (2028 would be perfect!)

DP wants 3 but I'm not so keen haha

Dolly567 · 25/03/2024 06:21

2, Morden day living isn't for larger families unless you're well off!
I am one of three, still close to my siblings but it was tough as we got to teens

useitorlose · 25/03/2024 06:22

Two. My work colleague is the youngest of 11.
