I see Braverman has got herself a column in the Telegraph. Excellent way for her to snipe at Sunak from the sidelines.

Laurence Fox banned from standing as London Mayor candidate after failing to fill in forms properly but Count Binface will stand as candidateGrin

I think he's upset that Ramadan is being celebrated in some parts of the UK - but it's not an attack on Islam Hmm

They want it both ways.

Uphold the values of the Church of England.
No, not those ones.

Yet again Downing Street quietly announces a new batch of political honours just before a bank holiday. Includes yet more honours for Conservative MPs (scores given out since 2010) and one for a Tory treasurer.

Almost as if they’re embarrassed about it. Whole system is bust.

Mohamed Mansour, a Tory party treasurer who gave them £5m last year, is getting a knighthood

We live in a corrupt country.

That doesn't sound like a very Christian name. What would 30p Lee say?

Well that Rwanda legislation cant pass itself.
And they clearly can't rely upon the current crop of Tory peers to do their bidding.
Then there is all that legislation the next Government will want to pass. We can't have that now can we.

I think it's called stacking the deck.

I'd call them shameless but sending it out whilst Parliament is in recess & before a bank holiday reveals how embarrassed they are.

newnamethanks · 28/03/2024 19:29

Lee will be saying 'when's it my bloody turn? I've supported 3 different parties and not so much as a sniff of a peerage for me from any of them. My mum says that's not fair'😡

That's fucking insane.🤯

Why is Jeremy Hosking funding LF to the tune of £millions, but not providing him with an effective, experienced nanny PA?🤔

Rishi Sunak gives knighthoods to:

  • A billionaire Tory donor with ties to Russia who was a minister in Egypt's dictatorship
  • A Tory MP accused of telling colleague she was sacked for her 'Muslimness'
  • A GB News presenter who said black people are "more likely to be murderers"

How much does it cost to send your son to Harrow from 11 to 18? It's quite pricey. You'd think they have Filling In A Form on the curriculum.

BIossomtoes · 28/03/2024 20:18

Ah well, at least the recipients of knighthoods can’t vote in the Lords.

Heavenssakes · 28/03/2024 20:18

Otoh, maybe Hosking has the wit to see that being prevented from standing by a bureaucratic bungle is a better look than standing and getting fewer votes than Count Binface.

Oh goodness, yes. ☺️ I am a twit.
Infuriating but less long term damage.

Notonthestairs · 28/03/2024 20:56

Will Hazell at The Telegraph tweeted that 'at least' 108 sitting MPs have been granted knighthood/damehoods since 2010.

Labour granted 11 between 1997 - 2010.

Angela Rayner tells Radio 4 if Sunak, Hunt and Tory deputy chairman James Daly publish their capital gains info, she’ll publish hers

Daly is the one who claimed most children who struggle in his constituency are the “products of crap parents”

I thought her interview was fantastic.

She never wavers and is clear and concise.

I loved her saying she would provide what she had to to those who required it but if the Tory party wanted everyone to publish their accounts she would of course follow suit and do so alongside them! X

I must be very ill informed I thought honours were only traditionally awarded for monarch's birthday and new year and pm stepping down, and even the last reason was optional?

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2024 21:41

I thought that too tobee, but it looks like they get handed out on a whim

Not sure precedent means much (unless it's someone else breaking with it).

Well they have had an unlucky run with PMs stepping down.

Don’t worry, fine to link @tobee.
