She’s completely lost the plot - poor woman. I feel very sorry for her daughters, it must be awful living in a state of perpetual embarrassment.

I was listening to an episode of Cautionary Tales by Tim Harford. Talking about the Torrey Canyon disaster.

The basic cause was plan continuation bias. Sticking to a plan no matter what. Even when you there are warning signs saying it's heading for disaster.

Sometimes it's good to change your mind when there are warning signs ahead.

Plan Continuation Bias in 57 Seconds

All pilots have biases that can impact their ability to make informed decisions, which can lead to catastrophic results. Plan continuation bias is when a per...

Does anyone know if Larry is ok? I know he is very old.

Is he part of the plan?

I think he's fine. He is getting on though. I follow a photographer on twitter who posts regular updates. https://twitter.com/justin_ng/status/1767897247503598040?t=WA4ZOMYCtqT6NzDReJPaEA&s=19

Starmer has a cat. I wonder if he will bring it to no. 10.

I don't Truss has lost the plot.

I think Truss is telling her American friends exactly the sort of thing they enjoy hearing. Drain the swamp etc.

And that's down to money. There are some deep pockets willing to shell out for this sort of content.

The thing is. He doesnt have a plan. He has no strategy. He's been rebooted so many times he puts Dr Who to shame.

Apologies for staying the bloody obvious. I'm tired!
I did hear that focus groups are getting sick of him saying "stick to the plan"!

cakeorwine · 24/03/2024 08:50

The thing is - he has kept saying that he will stick to the plan that he can't say "Actually, we need to change the plan" because he has said that he will stick to the plan so many times.

Cheguevarahamster · 24/03/2024 09:34

"stating the obvious"

IClaudine · 24/03/2024 09:35

Hunt on LK this morning. Talking about how they will reduce the numbers of people getting the highest rate of disability benefits.

So, in other words, targeting the most sick and disabled.

I have to keep telling myself that they are not going to get in.

IClaudine · 24/03/2024 09:35

Forgot to say thanks for the new thread!

That's my DS. He got his highest rate PIP for bloody good reasons. And he works.

Utter, utter scum - Angela Rayner was right.

IClaudine · 24/03/2024 10:03

It is my DH as well @pointythings . He is 62 and a wheelchair user. He doesn't work now as too disabled. I am his FT carer.

I feel like we are now looked on as parasites, despite the fact that we both paid into the system for decades.

VimtoVimto · 24/03/2024 10:08

Liz Truss sounds more like a parody than the Dead Ringers impersonation.

Sorry for those who are affected by the Tory war on disability benefits. Even if they never come to fruition the stress people are put through is unacceptable

Armando Iannucci responds to Jeremy Hunt’s gaslighting #bbclaurak

“it's almost like we're in a Dickens novel, rather than 6th biggest economy in world”

Child poverty rates (JRF 2024)

UK 20%

Denmark 2.4%
Finland 3.2%
Norway 3.6%
Sweden 3.6%

Shameful

We know it's there but obviously not exactly what it is because it's so deep. I mean really deep

I’ve just realised - she’s talking about Rishi’s plan isn’t she?!?

So the plan is to PIP to high claimers.

Now if the plan was to reform NHS services so those who are disabled through illness that's not diagnosed or/ and treated or to provide MH services and therapy so those unable to manage because of severe untreated and unsupported MH difficulties I'd be on board.

But it isn't. It's about making claiming harder. Which worries me because it leaves my ds with a genetic neuromuscular degenerative disorder and autism vulnerable. There's things he will never be able to do because his body just doesn't work the way ours does - he also works.

I have no issue with proper reform - I have issue with the "we will cut them and leave those people unsupported" approach AngryAngryAngryAngry

It really is, which is why it winds me up when politicians get grief for ‘U turns’ when the ‘U turn’ is based on new information.
