Too many woke Christians in the CofE, especially that Canterbury bloke. They should have a referendum. Get those Christians out of there.

DuncinToffee · 26/03/2024 21:36

Are they hoping for a Gullis bounce?

What’s with the American voiceover? Could they not find a Brit prepared to perjure themselves?

AdamRyan · 26/03/2024 21:52

Teen DD has just blown my mind saying Farage is all over tiktok trying to encourage the youth vote by saying Sunak is transphobic and the government should be supporting Palestine.

He has no shame at all.

AdamRyan · 26/03/2024 21:54

But to be fair I am just taking her word for it so it could be misinformation

Surely that can't be true? If so, he is disgusting. Well he always was disgusting but you know what I mean.

It sounds like one of those "true crime" documentaries. Very strange.

Oh these recent revelations are at odds with the persona he has been sucking up to Trump with; or maybe it is just the Church of ENGLAND that is too woke? Supporting Palestine doesn't sound very Trump either though... Hmm, have they fallen out over something? Algorithm's not helping Reform enough yet?

In other news I see Russia is now being accused of the AI Kate POW bot factory crazy. Honestly, the internet is like the Wild West!

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/03/2024 23:40

That video is tragic. Is their press office being run by 15 yr old schoolboys with no imagination?

That's completely strange! I mean wtaf? It's also like it was an American voiceover from 1976

I see the triple lock is in the news.
Sunak wants to keep it - and might raise pension age to 68 to pay for it.

It's like a goal post that keeps moving

Cornettoninja · 27/03/2024 07:38

might raise pension age to 68 to pay for it

this is on the cards anyway isn’t it?

of course, he could just manage NI and contributions properly….

Halfon stepping down at the next election. Maj of 14,000. I had thought of Harlow as a safe seat (if somebody wanted a chicken run) but I wonder if that's correct.

That one's a shame, he's both reasonably decent and competent. I guess he's another one who didn't fancy being isolated amongst the nutters after the election.

Zyq · 27/03/2024 08:20

Roussette · 26/03/2024 19:23

Writing on social media this evening, Party chairman Richard Holden said: "Great to announce that the inimitable [Jonathan Gullis] is becoming one of our Conservatives Deputy Chairmen".

He added: "The non-stop campaigning MP for Stoke On Trent North, Kidsgrove and Talke is a formidable addition to the team as we build to the General Election later this year".

Inimitable? Is that the word for him???!

Eminently imitable, I should imagine the likes of Jon Culshaw would find it child's play.

He's clearly filling the 30p Lee idiot spot. What on earth is it about the Tory party that they feel they need a Neanderthal bigot permanently in place as Deputy Chairman? Surely they know it's a matter of time before Gullis puts something racist on social media and defects to Reform too?

Farage has decided to boycott going to church because it's too woke

Nigel Farage reveals why he has stopped going to church: 'It is hopeless!' | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

"Mr Farage said: "I won't go to my local church, I won't go. I am christened and confirmed in the Church of England, all my family on both sides have been Church of England.
"I used to believe in it, I used to attend, not every Sunday but regularly during the year, I will not go. It is hopeless, they've given up, they've surrendered."

I wonder what he thinks of Jesus and his teachings?

It's pretty obvious that if Jesus turned up today the likes of Farage would be earning a fortune writing articles for the Mail condemning him for all that woke lefty nonsense. As for claiming to be the Son of God and the product of immaculate conception, they'd be falling over themselves laughing before calling for him to be locked up.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2024 08:31

Well atleast the AB of Canterbury was selected by the late Queen and approved by the Crown Appointments Commission and the PM. He has been vetted.
More than can be said for Farage.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2024 08:33

No surprise to see Gullis chosen as Deputy Chairman. It was a good way of diverting attention from respected Ministers leaving and he'll say all the things that the leadership don't want to be caught articulating.

Notonthestairs · 27/03/2024 08:37

I see patient dissatisfaction has hit an all time low for the NHS. Fourteen years to go from 70% to 24%. Wonder why that should be.

But worth noting that half those surveyed supported raising taxes and spending more - so as issues go it's very high on all voters lists.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2024 08:48

So the plan is to go after clergy and lawyers?

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1772894143427068073?s=20

James Cleverly(Home Secretary) has called in Christian churches to warn them about reputational risks to churches... do you agree?

Andrew Griffith: "Yes... we can't run an asylum system based on credulous clerics & lefty lawyers..."

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 27/03/2024 08:56

Heaven forbid they take responsibility for the system they are in charge of.

I'll hand it to them, they are very good at keeping the focus is on refugees rather than the increase in legal migration.

Say one thing, do another. Pretend it's somebody else's fault.

Saucery · 27/03/2024 09:21

If only they were in a position to set up an efficient system to process asylum claims in a timely manner. Must be awful to be hobbled by the fact you’re only the governing party in a country and thus unable to bring about meaningful change Sad

IClaudine · 27/03/2024 09:22

I really want to know what Tory supporters make of recent events, so have started a fred to see if they will tell us:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5037182-to-be-furious-with-the-joke-party

Saucery · 27/03/2024 09:27

Churches have batted away reputational damage from child abusers using them as cover and their enmeshment in slavery, so I don’t think Cleverley ticking them off will trouble them much.
And why shouldn’t supportive testimonials from clerics form part of the asylum seeking process? If the rest of the system was working then abuse of that would be picked up sharpish.

If only they hadn’t just knocked 2% off NI … Personally I’d rather they ditched the triple lock than raised pension age any further. Sunak’s deluded if he thinks it’s a way of retaining the over 65 vote, it’s haemorrhaging to Reform with only 33% planning to vote Tory.

Yes, in 2044. I suppose he could bring that forward.
