Dainty earrings.

I'm just fascinated by the idea that any woman around the age of 50 can tell you what another woman around that age might like WITH NO OTHER INFORMATION.

What do they like? What's the budget?

I'm nearly 50. I'd love a Reeses Nutrageous, iTunes vouchers, waterproof boot covers, a drysuit, a kayak, an electric campervan and an air source heat pump.

So pick something from the list that suits your budget. All women of a certain age are basically the same so they'll be delighted.

One of my favourite presents was book of memories. It was full of photos and had written notes recording our friendship over 30 years. I treasure it.

My other favourite was a mini perfume bottle (to put in a clutch bag). I also have some beautiful earrings from a local artist that uses dichroic glass.

If you get me dainty earrings, we're done.

Yankee candle (love diptyque but not under 20).
Cinema voucher.
Lunch voucher.
Amazon gift card..

I think my taste too expensive for 20 quid tbh..so the above all i can think of

Age is irrelevant.

If they are your friends then you'll already have an idea of what they do or don't like.

What are they into, then we can help.

Missed the budget. First three on my list all good. £20 worth of Reeses Nutrageous - perfect and someone did that once. Well, a box of them anyway.

Lovely earrings are good but only if you know what they like and include a gift receipt.

@Namechangeforthis88 I have never heard of them before but I just added Reeses Nutrageous to my online basket. Three actually, as they are 3 for 2.

I would have appreciated chocolates, silver jewellery , a pretty moisturising lipstick, flowers, a nice plant for my garden , cashmere socks .

Fluffy socks. A lap tray. Hand cream. A nice scarf. Posh tea and biscuits.

Alternatively- whatever you would give someone who's 30.

First of all, I am a woman in my 50s (not a "lady").....

Secondly, and as mentioned, all women are different, so it's really hard to say. But, please, no cliches like scented candles. No mature female wants tat to clutter up the house - and nothing described as "posh", which is just the same tat, but slightly more expensive.

I would like:
Art gallery, theatre or museum annual membership.
Coffee or cheese monthly subscription.
Common or garden book tokens (do they still exist?), or Amazon vouchers to buy Kindle books.

Definitely NOT a spa day, or anything that involves the word "pamper" 🤮 Also, nothing "dainty".

Actually, I've just seen the budget.... sorry, I have expensive taste! So, maybe a good bottle of white wine (ie just one, value £20), but definitely NOT Prosecco.
Book or Amazon vouchers, as before.
Theatre tokens.
A smart notebook.
A pair (or two) of Seasalt socks.

Or maybe just take me out for a coffee and a bit of cake at a good, independent coffee shop.

Cinema tickets or maybe a workshop kind of thing. And to do it with you?
Basically no clutter.

Recent presents from friends I've particularly liked: a bottle of red and some cheeses; a mix CD for my car of songs from our teenage years; books; bowls and chopsticks.

Exactly. I’m 51 and I would like Hoka walking shoes, the complete works of Natalia Ginsburg, a kombucha scoby, a The Knotty Ones jumper, a couple of Seedsaver heritage apple trees, the Atlas of the Irish Revolution and a load of firewood. If you’re asking.

If the budget is £20, then a Collected Elizabeth Bishop.

I'm 50 in a few days. I'll be asking for any of the White Buffalo cds I don't have yet, a Metallica or Pantera tshirt, some good quality pens and pencils (love to draw, even though I'm not great!!) and some silver bracelets.

I would be disappointed if I received a candle or a scarf!!

54.

No fucking pointless stinky candles.
Definitely no chocolates or wine (thank you menopause for ruining those for me)
Sucker for a sewing gadget, though, particularly anything to do with measuring. I wouldn't mind one of those wheels that measures curves or a device for marking evenly spaced buttonholes.
