I’m wondering if Sunak’s days as PM are coming to an end ? I read a few articles, such as the one above, that seem to suggest there’s a plan to oust him and replace with him Penny Mordaunt? I actually quite like her.

If they think they can inflict yet another unelected PM on us they can just fuck off to hell. And yes, I know how our system works and that we don't elect PMs as such, but 4 leaders in 5 years would be taking the piss massively and is unprecedented and not acceptable. And the fact that holding a sword for quite a long time is her biggest achievement just makes it even worse.

I suspect she'll try after the (expected) disastrous local elections in May.

@Freakinfraser It's not a silly comment at all, how patronising. As I said, I know how the system works very well. The leaders of the two parties are always central to the campaigns and factor hugely into many people's voting decisions. To keep swapping leaders once elected is not normal at all and is reflective of the chaos within the party which they are inflicting on the country as a whole in a vain attempt to save the party.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour and if Labour tried it we would never hear the end of it. Gordon Brown replacing Tony Blair drew huge criticism from the people who are defending or ignoring the shenanigans the Tories are inflicting on us now, and it was incomparable to this shit show.

Pointless. PM was a candidate in a previous leadership contest and didn't get enough support. They can't just keep rotating the leadership and expect everyone to forget about how utterly dreadful the entire government has been.

If they feel Rishi Sunak cannot govern (and it's clear that he cannot) then a general election needs to be called. There is, or should be, no other option at this point.

According to some people that's what makes her so uniquely qualified to be PM - holding a heavy sword for hours. I pointed out to the local Conservative assn yesterday - because I was so enraged by this - that they've pissed off the pensioners, the GC women AND the GC women who are looking at the Tories as an alternative to Labour on this issue. And that they're going to lose big, whoever's in charge, so they might as well not bother.
