Mine is what DS used to call pins and needles. Love kidicisms!

Mine was suggested by mumsnet. I was planning on changing it to something fun but it turns out I have the imagination of a spoon and I can’t think of anything.
I don’t even like roses or pombears very much.

FknOmniShambles · 13/03/2024 20:39

Mines a Malcom Tuckerism.
My absolute favourite fictional character of all time.

echt · 13/03/2024 20:46

Mine is German for real/true/genuine which I is what I think I am. I'm not German by the way.

I'm aware it also sounds a bit a bit pompous, which I also am.

LlynTegid · 13/03/2024 20:46

A place near where several of my ancestors lived.

EcstaticMarmalade · 13/03/2024 20:48

As a kid I liked Marmalade Atkins and as young adult I went out clubbing a lot.

BreakfastAtMilliways · 13/03/2024 20:51

Hitch Hikers Guide fan here, quoting from that wonderful chapter musing on the unexpected intricacies of time travel. My next user name may also come from there.

BIWI · 13/03/2024 20:51

When I first joined I made the faux pas of using 'mum' in my username. I soon realised the error of my ways! But I'd been here long enough by then to realise that despite work or domestic issues, I am important too. Hence my name becoming. BecauseImWortIt. Now shortened for ease!

Apollonia1 · 13/03/2024 20:55

When I read The Godfather book as a teen, I loved the description of Apollonia, so always loved the name. I gave it to my daughter as a middle name.

allisonsingalveston · 13/03/2024 20:55

A line from a George Strait song

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 13/03/2024 20:55

Mine is a reference to my day job (CEO of a Tech Co) and my forever job (being a Mum).

RogersOrganismicProcess · 13/03/2024 21:04

Mine is a tongue in cheek reference to a concept by Carl Rogers, the organismic valuing process: one’s innate ability to know what is important, to fellow their own best directions in life. In theory, this will lead them toward greater well-being and a more compassionate, fulfilling existence.

SnakesAndArrows · 13/03/2024 21:04

It’s an album by my favourite band. I name change quite a bit.

Caswallonthefox · 13/03/2024 21:05

A character in a series of books I listen to.

HarrietSchulenberg · 13/03/2024 21:11

Green Wing. When I had small children I felt very much like my character and thought it inspirational that she had an ironing board in the car so she could "get a bit done" at traffic lights.

Maddy70 · 13/03/2024 21:18

I was rubbing around like a headless chicken ..my kids said i was having a maddy.

mygrandchildrenrock · 13/03/2024 21:19

Because they do! There are a few more now than when I first joined mumsnet.

TheLadyIsAVamp · 13/03/2024 21:20

Spice Girls song 😅.

MermaidGin · 13/03/2024 21:57

I'm a mermaid who likes drinking gin 🧜🏼‍♀️🍸

XXtrovert · 13/03/2024 22:02

I am female, I am an introvert and I like puns. Due a name change, though

Catsmere · 13/03/2024 22:06

In-joke among knitters and crocheters with cats, a pun on cashmere, because catsmere is the fine quality fibre that gets added to everything, whether you want it or not.

blackheartsgirl · 13/03/2024 22:15

Mines cos I fancied Black heart from Ghostrider.
I was sheepgomeep years before that name.. my dd1 always insisted when she was little that sheep go meep and not baaaa

SparrowSally · 13/03/2024 22:18

Dr Who, but Sally Sparrow was taken!

XenoBitch · 13/03/2024 22:20

I am a huge fan of the Alien films. The 'Xeno' is short for xenomorph (which is what the aliens are referred to as), and the 'Bitch' is a reference to the line Sigourney Weaver utters during the climax of Aliens when she says to the alien queen "Get away from her you BITCH!".

But then I had someone call me xenophobic on a thread about not going abroad much... based on my name. Said it made sense (I can't afford to go abroad). And many people call me a bitch, and think it is ok because it is in my name.

ninja · 13/03/2024 23:36

Because I am one
