This thread is absolutely bonkers and is realiy making me worry for people's sanity. It's like Covid all over again.

They've not cut and pasted Kate into the photo, it was Kate in the car. My trees have leaves on (some never dropped) some are brown. We've had a mild winter which has made plants do funny things, I had roses in bloom until a few week's ago, I'm sure some have buds too.

It’s going absolutely hysterical,

it’s like Diana, or Covid. People are really going to extremes, it’s like a competition to see who can come up with the most outlandish conspiracy theory, I’m literally sitting reading with my jaw open.

Livingtothefull · 11/03/2024 13:57

Despite the fact that they claimed that William had taken the picture last week, they have got Kate to issue an apology claiming she tinkered with the photo. As though nobody from KP would have checked it before issuing to news agencies?!

So William has allowed his sick wife to be thrown under a bus to protect his reputation - and he thinks that makes him look better???!!!

Lampslights · 11/03/2024 13:58

Can anyone think of a decent reason, if it's genuinely a picture of her and the tweaks are minor, why they wouldn't release the original unedited image now to lay the story to bed?

I think it’s simply a pic of her pre surgery as she’s not wanting to be seen in public yet. A stupid but grave error by the palace. Look at the hysteria on here alone.

BlackFriYay · 11/03/2024 13:58

I find it shocking that people are up in arms about such a non event. Multiple threads, discussed on every news channel as top news. How ridiculous.

The vast majority of celebrities edit their pictures.

Who cares? If you care, why?

We really are a nation of complete bores if this is the crap that gets people talking.

The princess has apparently only made “minor adjustments.”

I’m wondering where a swapped out head falls on the adjustments spectrum…

The poor woman. I think it’s time to leave her alone. We’ll soon find out if it’s anything major - and I’m sure it’s just a bit of weight loss/ gain plus a tan that hadn’t been topped up to her satisfaction. Just let her get well in peace.

It’s disgusting that William has allowed his ‘very sick’ wife take the heat for this, after saying he took the photo last week. I agree.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 11/03/2024 14:00

It came from KP alright - but why put up such a fake, badly photoshopped photo? What purpose does it serve?

The quote about not attributing to malice what could be down to incompetence comes to mind.
It was a fuck up. Undoubtedly. But I don't think a badly photoshopped image is some clue in a big conspiracy. I don't think it serves any purpose.

For them not to do that makes me think there's much more that's gone on than minor tweaking.*

No, there is no reason. The tweaks are not minor to anyone with the skills and knowledge.

They could easily have just used another photo from last year they had, the fact they didn't is a bad decision.

AInightingale · 11/03/2024 14:01

Oh yes, I can now see why people are making such an issue of Charlotte's botched and misaligned sleeve/cardi/skirt. It's not just that the edit is so bad, it's why it's been done -presumably to insert an image of Kate's hand. But why on earth, if they were photoshopping a 'happy' family photo, would they choose to insert an image of an obviously ringless left hand? Unless Kate did do the editing, and is choosing to make a statement with it? Curiouser.

He is the future head of state, not a celebrity. If the suspicion that that's a pre-illness photo of Kate is true, then saying that William took the photo last week is more than a little dishonest.

There was no need to do it, but they did, and it reflects very badly on them.

I just don’t buy it, at all. The KP comms can’t be THAT inadequate. No way. They run a very very tight ship, so tight in fact they made the army remove Kate from a June engagement after an odd public spat.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/03/2024 14:02

Who cares? If you care, why? @BlackFriYay

Don't care about Kate per se or if she's adjusted her pic.

But I am pleased to hear there's a standard that pictures are held to by reputable press agencies.

Also I'm fascinated that such high level public figures can have such terrible comms advice.

I know there are major things going on - but really, this is about the publicly funded family of our Head of State. They are not just celebrities, or private individuals tweaking their family snaps.

The photo is not the issue, it's disingenuous to claim that it is. It is the fact that they have been caught lying to us and misrepresenting facts. And not for the first time either.

Novella4 · 11/03/2024 14:03

“They could easily have just used another photo from last year they had, the fact they didn't is a bad decision”

And why also make a point of saying the photo was taken this week and by Willaim?

Because if the royal family have taken an older picture of Kate and tried to pass it off as current, and deliberately lied to the public, then that’s a very big deal indeed.

its one thing to say nothing, to give her her privacy, to say nothing, but to deliberately and proactively lie and attempt to mislead the public is a significant issue , and it would have been done by the future king.

A tight ship?

After this photo?

😂

Severalwhippets · 11/03/2024 14:06

The public pays £183 million pounds PER YEAR for what? To be lied to, misled, treated like imbeciles. What an utter PR disaster! If I didn’t know better it would look like someone was sabotaging from the inside…

My point precisely.

Royal author Omid Scobie, seen as a cheerleader for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, accused the Palace of having a 'long history of lying', and said gaining back public trust was now 'an almost impossible task'.

I imagine it was because they didn't want people to say an old picture was used because Kate was too ill (or too in a coma 🙄) to be in a current picture.

The bad photoshopping ruins that for them of course because people are speculating far more now.

yes, thats also a good question. I don't think he did take it. Why would they want us to think he did?
