Have just seen news saying that associated press have withdrawn photo as it appears "manipulated". V strange

Despite professional photographers and editing professionals saying otherwise?

Why have so many media outlets put an extremely rare kill notice if all this amounts to is some amateurish editing? This is the first time this has ever happened to the royal family. The PR teams are paid multi millions to check the detail before anything is released, and they are (usually) the best in the world.

Why has Kate been removed from the only engagement she was down to do - one that is in JUNE!

Could Kate's recuperation have been extended to avoid the public during her Uncles embarrassing stint on Celeb Big Bro? I can't say that I've been following this saga over the last few weeks and I'm not fully up to speed, but when I found out her uncle was about to be a huge embarrassment I wondered if she's is hiding out to avoid questions about him. This photo being released a day or so after he was kicked off that show is very coincidental. The Photoshop fiasco could be that Kate has dabbled with some Photoshop herself and, like most people, she's rubbish at it.

On closer inspection, in addition to all the flaws akready pointed out, I think her left hand is actually a flipped copy of her right hand as her index finger is shorter than her little finger (sorry if this has already been pointed out, too many posts to read through!)

Having looked at that picture again it really is an odd mess.

It even looks like her head was photoshopped on somebody else's body as the proportions are all wrong.

How on earth did they get themselves in such a mess...

Her recuperation hasn't been extended. They said Easter and it's not Easter yet.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but… On radio 4 world at one today one of the experts said they can see the metadata in the photo. And it was taken with a Canon SLR camera and lens . It was then edited using Photoshop and saved twice on 8th March on an Apple Mac.

So it wasn't taken on an iPhone, and it wasn't edited on a phone either . I would also say that Photoshop is incredibly hard to use. Not sure how many Non professionals use Photoshop.

Ffs the MOD explained that one, they put that one out without Palace permission or confirmation.

Whatever is going on they have cocked up the pr so astonishingly badly it’s unbelievable really. Everything they are doing is fuelling the fire rather than stopping it. So either the palace comms machine has become completely shit and is staffed by 21 year old interns on the cheap or they are trying to cover something else up which is worse than this shit show.

Photoshop is not “incredibly hard to use”, I used to mess around with it when I was about 13. Sticking your hand in so it looks like it’s round a child it wasn’t is not difficult, especially if you don’t do a great job of it.

I personally don’t believe for a second this is an ‘accident’ or a mishap. It’s unthinkable. So for me I am curious as to why we have been served up a photoshopped snap of a professional shoot that William said he took, when clearly he didn’t - and Kate superimposed onto it without a wedding ring. Whoever did this, wanted us to know.

So someone with access to their official Twitter and Instagram, and with the authority to send pictures out to news agencies, put together this picture as a clue, because they "wanted us to know"? Know what?? If they wanted us to know something they've done a terrible terrible job.

To save embarrassment, if Kate was actually going to be there in June I am sure KP would have let the engagement stand! They are in no position currently to cause a fuss at a time like this.

There are teams of nannies to care for sickly children. William himself was seen driving away from windsor shortly afterwards so he was clearly fine!

It came from KP alright - but why put up such a fake, badly photoshopped photo? What purpose does it serve?

It wasn’t Kate who released it: it was the aliens what took her who done it.

Sadly this was all avoidable and unnecessary. It really is an awful PR own goal. It would have been better to have just continued quietly as they were.

But at the crux of this I do feel sorry for the woman who has obviously had some major surgery and just wants time to recover before facing the world again. It's just ramped up the pressure even further. God only knows how bananas the media frenzy will be when she does reappear in public for the first time.

I can understand her taking a step back until she is ready. I cannot understand the social media hounding of the past few weeks. But sadly I can see how this photo has now ramped it all up further.

It's difficult as well in that the King has taken a different approach with published photos of him, without disclosing the nature of the cancer he is being treated for. But Catherine has undergone different surgery and has taken her own approach in not wishing to be photographed at this moment in time. After all any photo of her would sweep around the World and be in the history books forever.

At the end of the day there is a woman recovering from what would appear to be major surgery, young children being protected from it all, and the media going nuts. But this photo was very, very misjudged sadly.

True, also Kate's right hand looks like it's in SD, whereas her kids' hands are in HD.

This is a really good point IMHO, again from the Guardian:

Can anyone think of a decent reason, if it's genuinely a picture of her and the tweaks are minor, why they wouldn't release the original unedited image now to lay the story to bed?

For them not to do that makes me think there's much more that's gone on than minor tweaking.
