Kate is the future Queen, ofc the public have a right to know the truth. How strange you would think otherwise.

The public really doesn't have a right to her confidential medical information.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 11/03/2024 13:21

Good question - that’s what we would like to know. What if it’s not a health concern or death but a separation? With KP trying to buy time with hope there can be a reconciliation?

You think they've sat their children down and said "everyone is going to think mummy is really really ill, but don't worry, she's actually fine, even though everyone outside of this house who you come into contact with will believe she's very unwell. You must not tell anyone it's all a lie"
That would be genuinely batshit. George (and his friends) are old enough to know what is being said online, so it would get back to them.

Sunshineandpinkclouds · 11/03/2024 13:23

It is all a shambles. The KP PR over this is a disaster.

The truth of the surgery she had and how her recovery is going? No, I don't think we have the right to know.
I think we have a right to not be outright lied to. But if they'd stuck to the statement of "she had surgery and will be back after Easter", then I wouldn't think we had the "right" to more than that.
I think it's strange that you think we would have the right to know those details.

I don’t need to know the details, no.
I couldn’t care less about the details, as long as Kate okay, but we don’t know even that.

We are being lied to, things are being covered up (badly) and quite frankly the truth would be infinitely better at this point, before the public’s mood turns very sour. The Royal family are on thin ice it would seem. I don’t think Camilla’s last minute trip was a coincidence either.

Franker · 11/03/2024 13:24

We don't have a right to know anything.

On the other hand, no one likes to be treated like bloody idiots.

It’s entirely possible both have happened.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/03/2024 13:25

Honestly this whole whoo ha is of their own making.

They could have stuck to their original statement and sent out an innocuous pic of the kids on Mother's Day.

That People speculate is not news. The public is interested not news. She's a GLOBAL celebrity, newsflash.

Seriously you'd think they'd be able to get putting out a pic right. Press agencies etc It's probably a bunch of chinless wonders on massive salaries.

Yes, exactly this.

As of yesterday morning I was saying we had no right to everything, and they were right to stick to their guns and say nothing til Easter.

The doctored photo changes that though, and while I still don't think they owe the public anything or that we have any right to Kate's personal medical info, I do think they would be wise to do something before Easter. Someone else suggested a radio interview, which would at least give her a few more weeks to hide from the cameras.

If she did an interview and said "Look, I feel like shit, I look like shit, every time a photo of me appears it's analysed to death and I just can't face that right now" then I think most people would be very sympathetic to her, but that's so much more personal than she usually gets.

I really don't know where they go from here, they've really fucked up.

Could is originally be Pippa Middleton? I think the legs and torso look like it could be kates sister! The kids would have happily taken this pic around there aunt. And then superimpose Kates head and hands..would explain the weirdness around those areas..

People are utterly obsessed with Pippa. 😂 thinking it was her in the car, now her here. It’s utter madness.

@Severalwhippets its a trained ornamental cherry on a sheltered wall in the South of England. Its not in full leaf its in early spring leaf. The one thing you can say for certain is the tree bit of the photo was taken in spring and not earlier than last week.

I don't give a toss about the photo or the PoW tbh. But the number of people saying that tree is in autumn cos some of the leaves are brown or its in summer cos it has spring leaves on it is seriously pissing me off. The major scandal here is how many people cannot identify the seasons in which common garden trees come into leaf. Lets have a bit of perspective.

No blossoms?

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 11/03/2024 13:26

Officials have said she's doing well. Clearly you don't believe them. What would satisfy you?

ImNotAsThinkAsYouDrunkIAm · 11/03/2024 13:26

The Guardian’s analysis of the photo is interesting, in terms of the wording they’ve used. They’ve pointed out that the thing that’s going on with Charlotte’s cardigan is that part of it has been cut away, and they’ve said that ‘in the void that creates is Catherine’s left hand’. Her hand has been added in. I think it’s fair to assume that the whole of her has.

What a cluster fuck. I don’t think we have any right to details of her condition or photos of her- what on earth were the PR folk thinking?!

DepartureLounge · 11/03/2024 13:29

MarkSloaneComeBack · 11/03/2024 13:14

Why does everyone think that when there is a health concern or death within the royals that it would be kept from us?

I think we now probably need to question the narrative in which she is recovering from surgery though, given that it came from the same source as a picture that has been sufficiently manipulated as to attract a kill notice from the major news agencies. If all of this were coming out of an institution less reflexively trusted, we would call it propaganda.

Lampslights · 11/03/2024 13:29

I think we do know that. We saw her in the car, she is clearly ok if wanting to get out om the school run. Thr palace has said she’s recuperating well. I believe that.

i just think she was very ill and is on the road back. She’s young fit and healthy.

some of the hysteria though is crazy. It’s Pippa. It’s not her legs, she’s in a coma, it’s utter hysteria.

erniesmilkcart · 11/03/2024 13:31

Kate photo: Princess of Wales says she edited Mother's Day picture recalled by agencies www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68534359
Apparently edited by Kate herself.

BestBadger · 11/03/2024 13:32

At least Charles is looking well.

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 11/03/2024 13:32

Where the arms of Charlotte and Louis are in front of Catherine, that looks flat and fake, like some CGI in a film. And if you look away and glance back at it, Catherine's head looks massive.

It sort of looks like the original snap would be just George and Catherine. It would certainly have looked less of a scrum, compostion-wise.

I can't stop looking at it. Grin

Rubyreddgirl · 11/03/2024 13:33

Sick to death of hearing about this animal abusing family, get rid of all of them

I don’t believe anything we are being told right now, correct.

As of last week, a one or two line statement from Catherine to thank the public for support would have been perfectly adequate. The photo wasn’t needed.

Now, after the photo fiasco, I am not sure what the public needs to feel any reassurance.

I personally don’t believe for a second this is an ‘accident’ or a mishap. It’s unthinkable. So for me I am curious as to why we have been served up a photoshopped snap of a professional shoot that William said he took, when clearly he didn’t - and Kate superimposed onto it without a wedding ring. Whoever did this, wanted us to know.

Mirabai · 11/03/2024 13:34

Now this shitstorm in a teacup has (hopefully) subsided I must say I rather fear for the mental health of the kids under this sort of insane pressure/scrutiny. How many of them, particularly oldest, will now be googling "abdication"?
(I type that as a republican but still mindful that these are people).

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 11/03/2024 13:35

This thread is absolutely bonkers and is realiy making me worry for people's sanity. It's like Covid all over again.

They've not cut and pasted Kate into the photo, it was Kate in the car. My trees have leaves on (some never dropped) some are brown. We've had a mild winter which has made plants do funny things, I had roses in bloom until a few week's ago, I'm sure some have buds too.

todaysdilemma · 11/03/2024 13:38

RemarkablyBrightCreature · 10/03/2024 22:17

Dear god, there are so many other things going on in the world - why is everyone so invested in this shit?!? 😩

The same reason you're invested enough in a MUMSNET thread to respond instead of doing anything else more productive. What a ridiculous virtue signalling response.

ColleenDonaghy · 11/03/2024 13:38

I'm not a conspiracy type, but the Kate in the car and the Kate in the photo look pretty different.
