Kate is quite a tall woman. Louis is 5/6 years old. The seated legs in that photo are wildly out of proportion. It’s definitely a fake / total mashup photo.

This whole thing is ridiculous, who here hasn't filtered or airbrushed photos they put online? Most people do, and celebrities absolutely do.

So it was an old photo - so what? They shouldn't have had to release anything, except that there has been media speculation whipping into a frenzy in the last week or two. So the palace bowed to pressure and it backfired.

As for conspiracy theories - what the fuck do people think, that she's had her face amputated or something? Leave the woman alone to recover.

The ‘royals ‘ said William took the photo last week .

Yes there’s editing, the ‘royals’ always edit - I don’t know how much - but I suspect the key question is was this photo actually taken when the ‘royals ‘ say it was .

@guineverehadgreeneyes

and I think they’re still lying.

I think many people do. That's problematic long term. Politician-style 'I'm sorry you were so confused by the nothing that just happened...' is wrong-footed again.

KP attempted to fool the public with the 'photo that PW took this week', got called out on it, and now is being disingenuous about it.

It's all so bloody unnecessary.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 11/03/2024 13:00

Where is Kate? We still don’t know.
Is she okay? We still don’t know.

We don't need to know these things. I don't think they should have released a misleading photo, so anything beyond small edits aren't ok in my opinion.

But if there wasn't a picture they were happy to release, I think they should have released nothing. We don't need to know where she is (at home, presumably??), or how she is. She's recovering from surgery, why would we need any more detail about her current health?

Topray · 11/03/2024 13:00

I thought people were being OTT and ridiculous until this photo fiasco. It’s all very strange. :/

Bigcoatlady · 11/03/2024 13:01

@Severalwhippets its a trained ornamental cherry on a sheltered wall in the South of England. Its not in full leaf its in early spring leaf. The one thing you can say for certain is the tree bit of the photo was taken in spring and not earlier than last week.

I don't give a toss about the photo or the PoW tbh. But the number of people saying that tree is in autumn cos some of the leaves are brown or its in summer cos it has spring leaves on it is seriously pissing me off. The major scandal here is how many people cannot identify the seasons in which common garden trees come into leaf. Lets have a bit of perspective.

Spectre8 · 11/03/2024 13:02

Well I guess it can no longer be said it's just certain royals who lie, decieve or manipulate people

Just looked at the photo on Kate and William's Instagram from yesterday, and funnily enough, Charlotte's sleeve is fine on that. 🤔 How interesting....... Looks like it wasn't Kate/William who started any 'photo manipulation.'Wink

Also, Charlotte's 'extra heel' is a tassle on the flat boot, and Louis is just scrunching his fingers up. Nothing is missing from his hand. And yeah, so Kate's (right) hand is a bit blurred ... but she may have just moved it slightly.

Seriously, I have never known such a massive amount of fuss over literally nothing. People seriously need to leave them all alone!

Maybe because you’re not even looking at the correct sleeve?

I agree with this. The legs just aren’t long enough. In fact, I don’t think they’re just not long enough for Kate, I don’t think they are long enough for the torso either. ‘Kate’ in that photo is all out of proportion full stop.

Seasidetrains · 11/03/2024 13:09

i work with photos for a living, this (at least the kids) looks 100% like it was taken by a professional photographer, not a dad with a dslr. it's not a family snap, it's from a shoot. kate looks photoshopped in, the head and legs are different proportions and there's something going on with her hair on the left hand side, the kids look mostly fine except for the sleeve on the right. also something weird about kate's left knee and also the way there are no shadows/indentations on her jacket where it meets the kid's green jumper on the left. some weirdness going on in the bottom left with the wall too. looks like it's been composited - badly, but not so badly that it's something a regular person who just messes around with family photos would do.

i have absolutely no interest in the royals but i do like looking at photos :)

I too have ornamental cherries and live in the south east, and mine are in blossom as are many around the country. You can see from the slight yellowing that this indicates an established leaf well beyond blossoming stage and typically mine will start to look like this in mid to late summer. Especially if it has been a warm, dry summer.

I think it was possibly William in the photo sitting with the children originally, looking at the proportions and he was replaced with Kate.

What a monumental shambles, best case.

MarkSloaneComeBack · 11/03/2024 13:14

Why does everyone think that when there is a health concern or death within the royals that it would be kept from us?

Seasidetrains · 11/03/2024 13:14

it also seems really odd to me how much more low-res/pixelated the kids/chair/background are than kate. look at the difference between the edge of her knee and the bottom of the chair. i'm not sure anything could explain this other than them being from two different images but i'm open to correction from any experts! also what's the white thing at the bottom of her jacket, next to her leg? i would have shopped that out anyway as it's confusing to look at!

LoobyDop · 11/03/2024 13:15

The ghouls won’t be happy until they get a photo of her looking like 70 year old Princess Margaret in a wheelchair. Preferably published alongside some aristocrat looking glamorous and unarguably in the middle of sexting Will.

NotQuiteHere · 11/03/2024 13:15

Why is Kate's right hand so blurred?

Ash099 · 11/03/2024 13:16

TheCoolOliveBalonz · 11/03/2024 12:52

To me it looks like the 3 children were there in an original photo with a different adult. An adult with a larger torso perhaps? Then Kate's head, legs and two hands were superimposed in later. I might well be wrong as know nothing of the royal family or photo editing. (I actually thought there was 4 children?). That's just how my eyes see it. Her hands look really......odd. I pay no attention to the royal family but the photo is so other-worldly, I can't stop looking at it!

Could is originally be Pippa Middleton? I think the legs and torso look like it could be kates sister! The kids would have happily taken this pic around there aunt. And then superimpose Kates head and hands..would explain the weirdness around those areas..

LoobyDop · 11/03/2024 13:16

NotQuiteHere · 11/03/2024 13:15

Why is Kate's right hand so blurred?

Because it’s in the middle of growing back after Will ate it, or something.

Good question - that’s what we would like to know. What if it’s not a health concern or death but a separation? With KP trying to buy time with hope there can be a reconciliation?

Of course it’s not a dad snap, I’m baffled anyone is so naive as to think it is. It’s a pro shot - Kate’s had hair and makeup, the kids are in slightly unnatural laughing poses, it’s a typical staged-for-the-public royal family photo.

It’s then been badly photoshopped for reasons that are not clear.

The truth of the surgery she had and how her recovery is going? No, I don't think we have the right to know.
I think we have a right to not be outright lied to. But if they'd stuck to the statement of "she had surgery and will be back after Easter", then I wouldn't think we had the "right" to more than that.
I think it's strange that you think we would have the right to know those details.

I don't think I'm a ghoul, but to be fair that does sound like a pretty cool photo.
