I believe it’s Kate , 100 percent, and her legs (lol), but I think it’s an old pic recoloured as per a poster above.

the simple and undisputable fact is the palace can make all this stop immediately. A 20 second video of Kate thanking folks for their well wishes , saying she’s recuperating , hopes to be back after Easter, and enjoying time with the kids, would do it. It doesn’t invade her privacy, it would stop the noise.

the palace knows the issues. So there can be only one reason they are not doing this very simple step. And that is Kate doesn’t look healthy right now and doesn’t wish to be seen. The pap shot showed her visibly puffy faced. So for me I assume that’s the situation, she is visibly puffy faced, and they have used an old pic, recoloured the clothes so folks can’t spot it. And issued.

and it’s been a terrible mistake.

The clothes are really what’s been altered, not the faces, so the poster who posted this was likely taken from nov 23 when they visited the toy bank I think is posting what’s accurate. They’ve used that image and recoloured so it looks like different clothes.

I have a lot of sympathy for Kate.
But I think it was a mistake to release this heavily doctored photo. It does need to be called out. We cannot accept fake news.

Exactly, they've gotten this one massively wrong.

HappierTimesAhead · 11/03/2024 11:48

CwmYoy · 11/03/2024 11:41

You literally said ' Will people shut the fuck up now'. It's in black and white.

I said, "now will people shut the fuck up?" Note the question mark. I assume you realise it was a question.

Okay, you 'asked' if people 'will now shut the fuck up'! Still quite different to asking people to stop rambling on.
Pretty sure people will continue to speculate regardless of what you want.

Spectre8 · 11/03/2024 11:49

pubblehopper · 11/03/2024 11:35

And it's easier if it's seen to come from her as there is the obvious sympathy angle they can use.

Bullshit, she has been harassed with wild theories since they announced her serious health issue, haven’t seen much sympathy for her from a lot of posters on here. On the contrary, in fact.

Isn't it ironic though she can make a personal statement about editing a picture, all of this could of been avoided had she made a statement saying hey thanks the support I'm recovering well....all the speculation stopped simply by doing that. It's just a simple statement.

But they took the line of not saying a single thing, double downed on it then release a heavily manipulated photo that it the media had it removed to uphold their standards and now come out with a personal statement from her.

This is their own making and so if they are prepared to deceive people with a pic it will now make people doubt what they do next so yes I doubt it came from her. I can see how that statement cmis a way to manipulate us into being awww poor woman....

I really hope for Kate’s sake that the media can’t prove the image wasn’t actually edited by her and that her statement is yet another lie…

Honestly, who knows, would they even respond at that point. The problem with starting down a route of subtle misrepresentations or omissions is sooner or later you have to make another, and another, and the knots get tied so you can’t undo them without a lot of embarrassment.

It’s clearly an old photo, perhaps she’s going through something medical which means she doesn’t look herself and doesn’t want to be in the public eye looking unwell. Which I understand.

And I know she has the right to privacy but in a way it would’ve been better for her privacy if she had just indicated what it is she’s unwell with. Everyone would’ve accepted it in a ‘take as much time as you need’ way, it actually would’ve been a good PR move in terms of popularity and looking relatable. King Charles sharing his cancer diagnosis has done wonders for his public image and makes him look an absolute hero when he does do an engagement or two.

By hushing up something which has meant months and months of recovery, much more than her cancer stricken and much older FIL, all they’ve done is increase the speculation and in the process ended up with an unsolvable mess through covering things up.

I don’t think anyone is blaming Kate, I actually think most people are either indifferent or a bit concerned for her. The whole thing has been badly managed and has echoes of Diana, Harry, Meghan and all the rest of it.

ScarletILumination · 11/03/2024 11:50

It's a complete cluster fuck. Either release a true image, or don't release one at all.

Yup. This is an own goal and one that should have been avoided by their team.

No photo. A simple statement to say she spent the day with the children and wishes all mothers a happy day.

There would have been grumbles and speculation, of course, but not on this scale and none she had to 'apologise' for.

Franker · 11/03/2024 11:51

This. And KP have not improved things this morning.

GreenClock · 11/03/2024 11:52

The agencies aren’t the ones looking foolish here! They are doing what they’re supposed to do.

Also….I suspect that W is stubbornly not listening to his own press guy, who is now being called inept all over social media. Just a hunch. Wouldn’t be surprised to hear of his resignation in the coming weeks.

As a republican I reckon that this furore is great! But at the heart of it there is an unwell human being and three young kids. I hope that C will recover physically and mentally. And if she needs to extricate herself from the marriage and the role, then she should do that.

namechangeduetoimpatience · 11/03/2024 11:52

What else are/have they lied about?

Crumpleton · 11/03/2024 11:54

pootlin · 11/03/2024 11:36

I thought Kate apologised?

According to what was just on This Morning the statement came from William but was written by Kate.

Maybe she just felt under pressure to give out a picture and as she said like many she had a go at editing and decided to release the picture not realising it wasn't 100% perfect. But what or who is.

sweetgingercat · 11/03/2024 11:55

Who knows what else they have lied about… but it’s too late now, the trust has gone…

I'm not on Insta but I think they have a joint social media account and it was signed "C", meaning it came from her. Could be wrong on that though.

ColleenDonaghy · 11/03/2024 12:00

It's such an interesting story.

Not just whatever it is that's up with Kate.

But the veracity of images in the press. The truthfulness of the royals.

If it is because she is self conscious about her current appearance, then it's also about the way we talk about high profile women and the impact that has on them.

DillDanding · 11/03/2024 12:01

It’s all getting silly. Who cares if she photoshopped the photo?

agree with this. All this nonsense could have been avoided with a decent PR team and a little more honesty and less vanity tbh This isn't just edited in the instagram app, its a fair amount of editing- clearly more than usual when she releases her own photos. Thats what raises more questions, how come you've never edited to this extent before? None of this looks good.

DillDanding · 11/03/2024 12:01

She did not edit the photo! It was clearly someone else.

Yes the statement on TV had a C under it, not disputing it came from her as I wrote in my post statement was released by William but written by Kate

DirectionToPerfection · 11/03/2024 12:06

I think it's obvious that Kate doesn't want to be seen with 'moon face' but to go to this extent to deceive people is just crazy.

Why not just be honest about it? It might actually make her seem more relatable and gain her a bit more respect.

It's insinuating that it's something shameful that needs to be hidden away.

Sarah Hyland is one celeb that comes to mind who has been open about this issue. I don't believe she has been criticised for that, quite the opposite actually.

Goldwork · 11/03/2024 12:07

The AP would not retract a photo for some snot edited off a sleeve.

They do not allow any editing so actually yes they would. In this case though they don't know what was edited as they won't have seen the original.

HappierTimesAhead · 11/03/2024 12:02

Edited

how can you tell that it was someone other than the Princess of Wales who edited the photo in such an amateur way? Do tell...

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 11/03/2024 12:08

I have a horrible feeling that the Palace are going to bow to media pressure and the conspiracy theorists and come out and tell us what Kate actually had done. I really hope they don't though.

I see nothing wrong with the photo, when I erase something from the background it takes the colours of what is behind that object and it blurs slightly which would explain the cardigan and skirt blurring. Charlotte may have had something on her cardigan that didn't show up until the photo, Louis was probably holding a toy soldier or something and they didn't want that in there.

I took someone out of a photo as he was stood
in front of what I had taken a photo of and ruined my picture as I didn't want a random man in my photo, it blurred it the same way.

Gowlett · 11/03/2024 12:08

Yes, I find the C thing weird too! Unless she always signs off that way? I don’t follow their social media. The whole thing has whipped up a frenzy… H & M will be laughing into the Cornflakes!

Mummame222 · 11/03/2024 12:09

RemarkablyBrightCreature · 10/03/2024 22:26

BBC reported it was taken by Will. I always tweak my photos before sharing - slightly alter colours, crop etc. The conspiracy theories are fucking nuts.

As is this mental obsession

SnapdragonToadflax · 11/03/2024 12:09

I agree with other posters - she's currently puffy faced (probably due to steroids) and doesn't want to be seen in public until she's looking like her old self. Fair enough and I'm sure most of us would like the luxury of hiding away when not looking our best.

AP will have pulled the photo because they've fully replaced her face, which is too major an edit to be allowed to stand. The other bits and pieces are no big deal, just some amateur photoshopping to try to make the photo look better. Maybe bits spliced from other photos. I don't believe for a second Kate is doing this herself, but she is making the decisions. There won't be a video because she's puffy-faced and doesn't want to be seen. Presumably she knows how long she's likely to be on the steroids and how long it will take to go down, hence being able to say when her first engagement is likely to be.
