Kate’s left hand looks wrong. The finger at the top looks like a little finger. The finger at the bottom also looks like a little finger, except the knuckles line up with the ring and middles fingers, and it’s longer than the top finger.

And she's not actually 'holding' Charlotte or got her hand around her at all...there is no indent in Charlotte's cardigan.

Fuck’s sake, don’t forget your tin foil hats you lot…

Is it only me who can't see a single thing wrong and didn't get an 'off' feeling when seeing it?

😂😂😂

I also don't understand what this means- in the sense - how can they tell and what level of manipulation?

This article breaks it down well - it’s from a tech blog and points out the errors and why.

in essence most likely they took multiple photos and stitched them together to get the best one of the kids smiling.

A screenshot of a recent Instragam post on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s profile. It is Kate Middleton surrounded by her children and it appears to be edited.

British monarchy rocked by bad Photoshop job

For a family obsessed with image you’d think they’d edit better.

My initial feeling was that the photo could not have been recent. The fact they insisted William took it last week felt like the weirdest bit of info. They could just have left the date out or stated it was an older photo. I also have some doubts about William being the photographer as he has never shown an interest in photography and none of their previously released photos were taken by him. If the picture was taken before the surgery there would also be zero reason for him to be the photographer.

Something like this could easily have been exposed due to someone at the school recognising the clothing worn on a particular day or one of the kids having a tooth which is now missing. Perhaps another image from the same set was leaked or seen and the press knew it was not last week.

The press clearly knows something more than the public. KP‘s entire PR team needs to be sacked. Even the reason was as harmless as just wanting a nice photo with the best facial expressions, having the Royal Family essentially lying to the public is a disaster.

SuperstarDeejay · 11/03/2024 05:21

I'm not a royal follower at all but was surprised and a bit dubious when I first saw that photo. She looked ridiculously happy and healthy for someone who's been on sick leave for months, and she looked absolutely nothing like she did in photo in the car, which was apparently taken around the same time.

pubblehopper · 11/03/2024 05:24

So the photo released by William was an amateur job and an amateur tried to fix a few photography errors, what a palaver over nothing.

Gosh, just a few short years ago, this photo was on Time magazine, manipulated beyond all recognition.

Maybe it might be the beginning of the end of news agencies publishing photos that are clearly photoshopped and don't represent the reality at all.

Oh yeah, everything is AI and a lie nowadays 🙄
Here is an article on editing someone into a picture and yes, one can do it in a pretty realistic way. But why though and why wouldn't they take care of any possible mistakes if they were to cover up for something? Imo it's just an occasional slip of editing of some other kind, not an attempt to create a full-blown lie narrative.

Charlotte's skirt seems to be over the top of her cardigan here.

Is it a pocket?

Wackadaywideawake · 11/03/2024 06:13

The big photo agencies do not allow manipulation - maybe the odd dust spot, but nothing that takes away from the integrity of the original image.

They are miffed they are being asked to release and distribute work that isn’t theirs and even more miffed their own photographers don’t get to take these images of the Royals anymore. This is them fighting back. I don’t buy into the conspiracy theories.

40pdf · 11/03/2024 06:15

I’m rubbish at spotting photoshop but whatever the reason this is a terrible misstep from the palace and will only add to many conspiracy theories in light of the many that are already doing the rounds.

Zonder · 11/03/2024 06:19

It's a snap. I have no interest in photography but I have zillions of pics of my family on my phone that I've taken myself, and which I used on Moonpig cards, which is probably the general public equivalent of where this pic was posted.

Moonfishstar · 11/03/2024 06:23

FKAT · 10/03/2024 23:04

It's an obvious gambit by the media to force Kensington Palace into giving them the full story.

The idea that Press Agencies are somehow immune from the shoddy tactics of other media outlets is laughable.

That’s exactly what I thought… Dirty tactics. There’s no obvious manipulation as far as I can see from looking at the photos.

IsadoraQuill · 11/03/2024 06:26

AP have pretty strict rules around camera manipulation for news stories. Camera dust marks can be removed but that's pretty much it.

So this photo, with the editing, doesn't meet AP's required standard. There isn't anything sinister that AP are holding back here.

In terms of the editing, has anyone ever tried to get three children to look at the camera and smile at the same time? Near impossible. It's likely that a bunch of images were taken, and using tools you can get on a smart phone, images were stitched together into one composition. Again, nothing sinister, just a daft decision and poor Photoshop skills.

The Royal Family said Kate would be out of action until around Easter time. It's not Easter. So why is everyone acting like her lack of appearances are a big conspiracy?

I read a New York Times article that William was photographed driving near the London Clinic, but wasn’t necessarily known to be visiting her. That means nobody was pictured visiting her except the Middleton’s.

Her parents weren't pictured visiting her.

Look at the edge of the sleeve of the cardigan.

It’s a posed photo for release worldwide… Of course she’s going to have make up on and look happy! Ffs, did you seriously expect a Daily Mail “sad face” pose.

Remaker · 11/03/2024 06:29

I think either their PR person/team needs to be sacked. Or their PR team is giving good advice that they are ignoring. Either way it’s just been misstep after misstep.

I have. There’s possibly manipulation there, but I don’t think we can say for sure.

motheronthedancefloor · 11/03/2024 06:39

There was a previous photograph where Louis' hand looked wierd but they didn't pull it so there must be a bigger manipulation issue with this photograph, or maybe the press just refuse to say it is recent when it clearly isn't?

This, and the open-mouthed "over-the-top happy" style is pretty standard for family photos from the Waleses.

Pittabred · 11/03/2024 06:40

Conspiracy theories aside I think the seriousness of this is the fact that the truth can and has been tampered with and that we the people are and can be fed a lie. If this has been doctored, what on earth else has been or will be? Such pictures become historical 'truths' Everyone deserves the truth and it's an insult to think otherwise.
