Wait till she crosses her legs Wink

But yes she terrifies the Tories, can't have a success story of a woman working her way to the top

I hope she does successfully sue. And gets a lot of money which she will hopefully donate to the charity that most embarrasses the Tories.

I might have said this before but the Rest Is Politics Leading Interview with Angela Rayner is so inspiring. Made me cry.

Oh, quoted the wrong post there but never mind!

Thought I'd link to it in case anyone wanted to watch/listen.
I really wish Rory would join Labour! I know he seems to be quite upset by her comments but I always thought he was the only Tory who has made sense in the last few years.

How Labour Became Electable | Angela Rayner

Could Labour still lose the next election? What really went wrong under Jeremy Corbyn? What do the left actually think of the right?Rory and Alastair are joi...

It is an amazing interview. I think she's great and we need voices like hers in government

BestIsWest · 22/03/2024 14:35

I’m not sure if it was a slip of the tongue but I’m sure Rory said ‘We’ when talking about Labour this week. Must listen again.

I went to an audience with Rory Stewart and he was great, a very intelligent guy

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2024 16:27

Hmmm. He comes across as nakedly ambitious and rather self absorbed in his book....

Interesting - I was going to buy it for my dad and then borrow it as we both thought he was the only sane person in the party when Brexit hit. Dad used to be a Tory voter and I think shares more of Rory's views but would never vote Tory again now.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2024 16:54

It's a good book, and highly readable and very interesting on other figures, such as Cameron and Johnson. But he does present himself as being awfully deserving of promotion and terribly good at every job he did. It's that public schoolboy self assurance. No impostor syndrome for Rory.

I’ve listened to some of the audio version and I know what you mean. He did resign rather than work with Johnson though, so there are some principles. His version of Conservatism is one I can respect despite still disagreeing with it - and he some very interesting ideas about citizen panels/government.

What an absolute knob this man is. I hope people laugh in his face. Blaming the Labour Council for Birminghams financial woes is really rather ridiculous.

LlynTegid · 22/03/2024 17:15

When it comes to the general election, remember Mr Sunak was not only prepared to work with Mr Johnson, but to do so on Dominic Cummings' terms.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2024 17:43

In otehr book related news, my new Russ Jones book (Four Chancellors and a Funeral) arrived yesterday so am looking forward to that!

IClaudine · 22/03/2024 17:45

This is very snide of me, but I hate the way Sunak always wears half zip up jumpers when he is trying to be a man of the people. It looks so awkward on him.

itsgettingweird · 22/03/2024 20:18

Loving the fuckity fuckwits title 😂

I'm thinking something about double standards?

Or using the word double whilst incorporating Sunaks circles.

Sunak doubles back to The Plan? (Or something better 🫣🤣)

Notonthestairs · 22/03/2024 20:26

I also like fuckity fuckwits title!

Or something on The Plan.

14 years of Failure to Plan or Planning to Fail?

Bigcoatlady · 22/03/2024 20:49

The mayors are interesting. There's a Guardian article today predicting they could not win any of ten which would be pretty crushing as they created most of them. But beyond the polling they have big problems. They only have two currently - West Mids and Tees Valley. Both are precarious. The three new ones are problematic - East Mids will get a tiny turnout as they don't have any local elections at the same time. Conventionally that helps Tories and it's prob not coincidence Sunak launched the election campaign there but there are more Labour voters than Tory in the region and Tories are demoralized and may have other plans that day. Labour. NorthEast and Yorkshire do have local elections too but that helps Labour as turnout will be higher. If the headline after locals is they have lost local authorities AND all the regional authorities that's going to really hurt
