Atkins also claimed the government is building 40 new hospitals and that they are a tax cutting party

Ah more hospitals, like the Nightingale white elephant hospital that in Covid, which couldn't be staffed because of their underfunding? How very useful. Wonder which of their developer mates are being paid for the elephants 40 calves? JCB will be on the list no doubt.

Thanks for the new thread!

I finished watching the Johnson documentary. It was very good and you can clearly trace the toxicity of politics back to the Brexit campaign.

The last line of the documentary was that Johnson is still relatively young in political terms and that to Johnson his premiership did not end in a full stop, but a comma...

I'm 63, 3 years older than Johnson but considered by many to be too old. I'm of course female 😂

Thanks for the new thread. First day out of hospital today so won't be posting much, but didn't want to lose you.

I haven't summoned the courage yet to watch. I managed to watch The Push on C4 yesterday and wondered at the timing. I got quite disillusioned with politics after Brexit and had to tune out of MN and other sources because I felt so adrift in my own country. I still can't believe how many people wilfully voted to destroy our stability and the relationships we had built up with our neighbours and allies, even after the Russian funding behind Leave was proven...

Anyway, as I said when I began posting, there's been a noticeable change in the last few months, where bots are back in comment sections spouting very similar things all over the internet and the rhetoric in the press. It's culminated recently with Rishi's speech last week and Farage popping back up seemingly everywhere - as if the wheels of Brexit discontent are in motion again.

Zonder · 10/03/2024 19:17

Sorry for your loss @TooBigForMyBoots and hope you're ok @MrTiddlesTheCat

"Health Secretary Victoria Atkins warned: “There are some people, sadly, who hold views that are contrary to the values that we hold as a country and we should not allow those views to percolate through society”."

And many of them are in government...

Sorry to hear you news boots.

I've shied away form mentioning so called TRAs - but I'd be willing to bet there are a whole lot of people who would be delighted if they were declared extremists. Watch this space indeed. It could become very nasty.

I’ve just watched it too. And my thought at that last line was “In his dreams”. That documentary exposes the extent of his capacity for self delusion in a way that wasn’t so clear when we were all living through it.

In a complete aside seeing the Queen with her dog in 2019 really showed how incredibly fast she went downhill in three years. She was in amazing nick for someone of 93.

Checking in! Love to all who need it and Happy Mothers Day.

I might brave that Boris Johnson documentary while DD is at school tomorrow, I wouldn’t want to wake her up with all the swearing tonight…

Rotten to the core, and Johnson is the only person who can restore their core values.

Presumably of lying and knowing how to treat a woman.

So I thought "Why does Venezuela ring bells alongside Boris and Brexit?" did a little digging and found old news for Leave about how Venezuela was a forerunner for Brexit and exalted as a potential trade partner (which all started after a fraudulent election...fishy). I strongly suspect Boris was over there to make some sort of trade deal for his return into politics - a Brexit success story.

Brexit Britain should take a stand on Venezuela

The United Kingdom has an opportunity to become a more significant player in Latin America while setting an example for other European countries. Venezuela is an important test case of how truly ‘global’ post-Brexit Britain wants to be. Latin America h...
