Strange question I know, but inspired by listening to my DCs aged 4 and 7 having a discussion over breakfast this morning 😁
Discussion promptly ended when 4yr old declared “Hoops” to be the best. Yes, “hoops” as in tinned 😆

I saw some radiator shaped pasta in a posh shop the other day and got very excited, haven't seen it for years. They also had a cool 5 spoke wheel shape I hadn't seen before. For a treat I'll have the shells or the bow tie, but typically it's penne or fusili because I can buy it by the boatload from tesco.

WestendGrrls · 09/03/2024 13:22

I usually only buy wholemeal so my pasta shape choices are very limited. I do like penne and tagliatelle as it feels a bit fancier than spaghetti.

I do wish I could find wholemeal bow ties or shells.

Spaghetti. A bit vanilla but I find it the most satisfying to eat.

We nearly always have penne. I don’t like shells because they always seem to be wet!

Ws about to say the same. The shells collect water.

vincettenoir · 09/03/2024 13:24

There's not much love for fusilli. I don't get why it's so readily available. I never but it myself.

Xanadu58 · 09/03/2024 13:25

I prefer fusilli
DH prefers penne

Giggorata · 09/03/2024 13:26

I love most pasta but my least favourite is bow shaped.

Fusilli, spirali, fettuccine and tagliatelle are my favourites.

dudsville · 09/03/2024 13:41

I know it's supposed to depend on the sauce, but I'm not Italian and I prefer Spirali for everything.

Temuaddiction · 09/03/2024 13:58

Fusilli is my go to I think everyone has a favourite

Temuaddiction · 09/03/2024 13:58

Tinned I agree with hoops

unsync · 09/03/2024 14:17

Coquilettes.

Thunderpunt · 09/03/2024 14:20

Scialatielli..... preferably with a load of fresh seafood cooked in white wine, extra virgin olive oil, fresh parsley and a few smooshed cherry tomatoes, alongside a glass of very cold Falanghina.... and preferably overloooking the bay of Naples

ScouseOfCards · 09/03/2024 14:21

My favourite are rigatoni or orechiette (sp?) I'm also fond of orzo.

Least favourite fusilli or papardelle

OnlyOneAdda · 09/03/2024 14:22

Tortiglioni all day long. And has to be De Cecco.

catscatscurrantscurrants · 09/03/2024 14:26

Cappelletti or fusilli. I don't like spaghetti.

Thankgodforwine · 09/03/2024 14:26

Rigatoni is a firm favorite in our house
Then bows
Husband loves papperdelle
Everyone hates linguni

Estellaa · 09/03/2024 14:33

I prefer spirals.

LeekPeachPlum · 09/03/2024 14:38

Casarecce but I can't find it in Sainsbury's since COVID

ExpertNutritionalistAndBestSellingAuthor · 09/03/2024 14:48

I like fettuccini & linguine, then conchigli & farfalle. Spag, Penne & Fussili at the bottom of the list.

Realistically I will eat any pasta because I love carbs!

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 09/03/2024 14:48

Fab thread!!! Not the long ones like spaghetti, tagliatalle or the angel hair one (vermicelli?!) But l do like a penne or fusilli!

EBearhug · 09/03/2024 14:54

Mafalda contact because it looks like little sea slugs. Which may be an odd reason for choosing a pasta shape...

Depends on the dish though. I like a little stuffed pasta parcel. And lasagne. Different shapes for different dishes.

This is my favourite too, it’s a good pasta if you only want to keep one as it goes with almost anything

Tesco finest is fine, Cecco as well. The best is Di Marco but that seems to have vanished.

Lunabetty · 09/03/2024 15:00

Linguine

sanityisamyth · 09/03/2024 15:02

Fusilli as it holds a cream sauce. I'm allergic to tomato in every form so most pasta is out of the question.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/03/2024 15:10

Dischi Volanti (flying saucers) are my absolute favourite - they're bloody brilliant but they're quite hard to find, sadly.
