Do you have a favourite pasta shape?

Strange question I know, but inspired by listening to my DCs aged 4 and 7 having a discussion over breakfast this morning 😁
Discussion promptly ended when 4yr old declared “Hoops” to be the best. Yes, “hoops” as in tinned 😆

Great idea for a thread ! My favourite is one that's difficult to find - Radiatori. I discovered it at uni over 20 years ago, our nearest was a Sainsbury's and they had it. It has lots of small gaps and holds tomato sauce really well. I want to buy some now !

I buy penne because I like the sauce going inside and they have better holes than macaroni for that and it's an easy pasta to find in any shop.

I don't like farfalle because the middle is always harder than the edges when it's cooked. Conchiglie like to get stuck inside each other which annoys me too. Fusilli never seems to hold onto sauce the same way and it always seems to be the cheapest option in shops.

I make too much of a mess with anything long like spaghetti and tagliatelle.

Penne - it's versatile and easy to get wholemeal.

I think that makes me boring.

Not a favourite but I can’t eat the shell shaped ones whatever they are called they just freak me out too much

Spaghetti! I love twirling it into a spoon, makes hardly any mess then.

Also giant shells, M&S do good ones.

I've never yet met a piece of pasta I didn't like.

My favourite at the moment is like tagliatelle, but ruffled along the edges - I don't know what it's called?

I used to love this one too (though had forgotten it’s name until you posted!) and used to buy it in Sainsbury’s back about the same time. I haven’t seen it in shops for a very long time and nobody seemed to know what shape I meant when I used to mention it!

Love pasta but will not, cannot eat tagliatelle or anything in ribbons. Strange but 😬

I like twists the best, they seem to be the the least soggy, shells are my least favourite because of the way they fill up with sauce, but I am not a huge pasta fan. I do like ravioli now and again though.

Rigatoni my all time favourite. Fusilli day to day as it's cheaper. Bow shaped pasta for one particular meal. Hate penne.

Rigatoni

I really wish l like pasta.. so versatile.. but l don't like any.. the taste or texture..
But luckily l love rice.. so l have bolignase sauce on rice instead .

Shells

I am into Rigatoni atm I don't like bows the texture is just odd, Hoops are delicious on toast tbf your son isn't wrong 😃

Orichiette is a current fave but only with pesto or similar sauce

Fusilli very versatile(esp like the bigger ones) and I’ll eat that with most

and Fusilli Lunghi (or telephone wires as it’s called in this house) is also excellent but V filling

Farfalle should be banned 😏

Rigatoni or tortiglioni if it goes in the oven.
Penne or Ziti for most things
Spaghetti or paccheri with fishy things.
Orechiette with greens

I'm not a huge fan of egg pasta. Too eggy. DP and DD love it though.

Agree with farfalle always being uncooked in the middle.

Sorry for bringing them onto this thread but does anyone know what type of pasta they use in the cheese, leek and ham Pasta n Sauce packets? The ingredients just say pasta whirls and they're a bit like orecchiette but also not. It's the only Pasta n Sauce I still buy because I love the pasta shape.

Rigatoni or linguine. Hate spaghetti.
