The NASAMS air defense complex purchased by Canada for Ukraine cannot be transferred due to funding issues from the United States, Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair announced.

"The Americans must provide funding to complete the contracts with manufacturer Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace," Blair stated

Japan and the US are in talks regarding military cooperation to bolster aid to Ukraine, reports Bloomberg.
The discussions include plans to increase ammunition supply to Kyiv and expand opportunities for repairing American warships and fighter jets in Japan.
Both allies are aiming to finalize agreements ahead of the upcoming summit between Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden in Washington scheduled for April 10.

The United States was reportedly formulating a "non-nuclear" response in anticipation of the potential use of nuclear weapons by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, according to The New York Times.
The NYT also mentioned concerns within some circles that public warnings from Russia suggesting that Ukraine might be preparing to deploy a "dirty bomb" were merely a pretext for a preemptive nuclear strike.
In mid-November 2022, CIA Director William Burns reportedly met with Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, during which Burns conveyed that "there will be clear consequences for Russia."
Naryshkin purportedly assured Burns that he understood the gravity of the situation and asserted that Putin had no intention of resorting to the use of nuclear weapons.

"We view Ukraine, with its current experience, as a country capable of making a valuable contribution to the European defense industry," stated Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President of the European Commission.
Dombrovskis further mentioned ongoing efforts to deliver 1 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine, acknowledging the need to expedite this process. He highlighted the Czech initiative aimed at mobilizing the search for artillery ammunition wherever possible, with plans to reach a production level of 1 million munitions per year, and subsequently increasing to 1.5 million.

Drones attacked the Beriev aircraft factory in Taganrog, Russia, on the night of March 9
An A-50 aircraft, which had been parked near the buildings nine days before the attack, disappeared.
OSINT analysts from Frontelligence Insight suggest that the A-50 could have been undergoing repairs inside at the time of the strike. Visible damage to the building suggests that the aircraft inside was damaged. Whether this is true is not known for certain.
OSINT analysts called it an achievement that the drones bypassed air defense, in particular the S-300 or S-400 battery, if it was not the target.
Russian authorities claimed a massive drone attack on the night of March 9, but denied any damage.
▪️If the drones did manage to damage the A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft at the plant, it would be the third such aircraft to be disabled by Ukrainian forces since the beginning of the year.

By the summer of this year, 12 Ukrainian pilots are expected to be ready to fly F-16s after 10 months of training in Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States. However, at this point, only six of the approximately 45 promised F-16s will arrive in Ukraine, the NYT reports www.nytimes.com/2024/03/11/world/europe/ukraine-f16-pilots.html
There is still a lot of uncertainty about delivery dates, numbers, speed of pilot training, and whether there will be enough people to maintain the planes.

🇵🇱🇺🇦 Polish protesters and police at the border have started stopping buses with Ukrainians, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
Buses are stopped at the entrance to and exit from Poland. Passengers are being held without any explanation. Kubrakov does not specify at which checkpoints this is happening.
"These actions are unacceptable in relation to Ukrainian citizens. During the war in Ukraine, the passengers of such buses are women with young children, socially vulnerable people, and military personnel returning or going to training. An attempt to make them hostages to a protest seems inappropriate for the civilized world," Kubrakov said.

Interesting point that Ukrainians now see corruption as a huge problem, which they didn't before (although that's arguable) :

Corruption in Ukraine has not disappeared, but now there are institutions that are fighting this problem, says European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.
"The war had a liberalizing effect on Ukraine. Before the full-scale invasion, corruption was not one of the five areas that society considered a problem. Now corruption is the second most important issue in society after security, and this creates pressure. This shows that the values of the population have changed," she said at the event dubbed Fighting Corruption: Ukraine’s Path to the EU in Kyiv Monday.
Mathernova stressed the need for systematic work to eradicate corruption.
"Has corruption disappeared in Ukraine? Of course not: there is corruption in Ukraine. But now there are institutions that work with it and solve this problem," the ambassador added. en.interfax.com.ua/news/general/972846.html

Shame on Trump for gifting Ukraine to Putin and shame on Orban for quoting Trump to say what Orban always wished for. Truly despicable pair.

They have no shame. And Ukraine isn’t Trump’s to gift. I hope they both get to regret their choices, and very soon.

yes, and one of the reasons for his dip in popularity was his inability to eradicate it.

one of the very, very few upsides of this war (the only upside?) is that it has given the govt the ability to shake things up considerably.

"We have observed notable progress in Ukraine's anti-corruption efforts. Despite ongoing challenges, Ukraine has achieved commendable results in the fight against corruption, demonstrating one of the best performances in recent years.
Progress is evident in various aspects, including anti-corruption legislation, investigation of major cases, the number of cases opened, and the implementation of anti-corruption programs.
While there is still much work to be done ....we remain hopeful that further progress will be made"

Speaking about the current situation on the frontline, President Zelensky said that the situation is much better than it was during the winter

Zelensky also said that "Russia's offensive has been stopped" and its army is "losing a large number of its vital forces."
However, he said the situation could change in "a month or a week" if the Ukrainian army does not receive sufficient support.
Commenting on the capture of Avdiivka, Zelensky said that the Russian army did not capture the city, but simply completely destroyed it.

Thanks, the Il-76 is the airframe (four engined) used as the basis of the A-50..

You do hear of engine separations very occasionally, worldwide, but you'd hope not to lose the whole aircraft (a lot depends on what damage is caused when the pod separates)
