Where is your most memorable place specifically for nice views and/or architecture?

Looking for somewhere special for either a few days or a week in June or July?

Has anywhere ever blown you away?

Iceland is amazing.

The Dolomites and surrounding areas are fantastic.

I was surprised how fab some of the views were in Montenegro.

Venice - without a doubt. Simply stunning.

Though we avoided summer and went in November so it wasn't so crowded. I've been to a lot of beautiful places but Venice is another level.

Weesweetiewife · 06/03/2024 23:38

Vienna is a beautiful city.

MaloneMeadow · 06/03/2024 23:39

Gaudi’s architecture in Barcelona, especially Casa Batllo - mesmerisingly beautiful!!

Sconenjam · 06/03/2024 23:40

Slovenian coast - stunning

Lifeinlists · 06/03/2024 23:41

Granada and the Alhambra & Generalif came a pretty close second to Venice, I must admit.

CanOfGerms · 06/03/2024 23:50

The Alps in summer is wonderful

Second this!!

Burano for the coloured houses too, such a beautiful island

Geneva. Swimming out to a raft in the lake and lying in the sun, looking at the snow-covered mountains in the beautiful scenery is the nearest I have (yet) been to Heaven.

Another vote for Venice, the most awe inspiring and magical place I’ve ever been.

Or Vienna. It’s like they were given a blank cheque when they built it, stunning.

ItsLikeSputnik · 06/03/2024 23:56

Seville. Breathtakingly beautiful architecture, lovely friendly locals and great food/drink. Very very hot in high summer though.

Santorini

Czesky Krumlov in Czechia, beautiful old town with a meandering river, a small kayakable one with little rapids and a huge castle with bears in the moat.

Vetoncall · 07/03/2024 00:08

Dubrovnik
Cinque Terre
Amalfi Coast
Capri

+1 for Granada/the Alhambra, especially when the rose gardens bloom
Swiss Alps, Norwegian Fjords and Iceland for rugged, breathtaking natural scenery

APurpleSquirrel · 07/03/2024 00:09

Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast - the Terrace of Infinity in the Villa Cimbrone.

practicepracticepractice · 07/03/2024 00:54

Innsbruck is fabulous, absolutely loved it.
Bergamo old town too

wondabar · 07/03/2024 01:02

The Alps. We spent some time in Verbier one summer and the views were breathtaking

fluffycatkins · 07/03/2024 01:05

For views the Highlands of Scotland, although I also rate Montenegro highly.

For architecture another vote for Grenada although I also really rate Istanbul.

OldMrsHempstock · 07/03/2024 01:08

Norwegian Fjords
Trogir in Croatia

verylongday · 07/03/2024 01:09

Another vote for Venice and Ravello on the Amalfi coast.
The mosques in istanbul are jaw droppingly beautiful, as is Topkapi Palace.

Charlie2121 · 07/03/2024 02:03

The Faroe Islands by an absolute country mile.
