Where is your most memorable place specifically for nice views and/or architecture?

Looking for somewhere special for either a few days or a week in June or July?

Has anywhere ever blown you away?

So many places in Andalusia - both bigger towns and tiny little villages. We stumbled across Castillo de Castellar at sunset, for instance, and it was magical.

The Alps in Winter.

Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. Absolutely stunning.

MadKittenWoman · 07/03/2024 13:03

Cinque Terre, Amalfi Coast, Capri, Venice, Santorini.

Paradiddlediddle · 07/03/2024 13:04

Lake Bled. Looks like Disney designed it, it doesn’t seem real. Ditto the caves in Slovenia.

Andthereyougo · 07/03/2024 13:27

Anywhere in Italy. Cities are beautiful, countryside stunning, coastal areas are lovely. The people are friendly, the food is great. I think I was supposed to be Italian and maternity hospital gave me to the wrong mother.

Innsbruck is fabulous, absolutely loved it.
Bergamo old town too

Innsbruck is also top of my list - the mountains everywhere you look. We regularly go to Achensee which is a lake ringed by mountains about 45 minutes from Innsbruck - absolutely breathtaking and perhaps my favourite views on the planet.

I haven't been for years but I have amazing memories of Ljubljana and of the Julian Alps.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/03/2024 13:35

The coastline of Croatia.

I was also blown away staying at an agriturismo in deepest Tuscany because you could see the Milky Way so clearly at night.

Has anyone mentioned Cuenca in Spain? UNESCO World Heritage site.

SinnerBoy · 07/03/2024 13:59

Quite a few, but the one that really comes to mind is St Ninian's Isle in the Shetlands. It probably helped that it was a beautiful, sunny day.

Overwhelmedmum1 · 07/03/2024 14:27

I was surprised by how much I loved New York.

It’s not my usual favourite view, but the Bahamas are too far to go for a few days.

The US is off-topic. But since you’ve put your foot in the door, I would say that American natural beauty is every bit as incredible as Europe’s, and then some.

Frigiliana, Spain, it’s approximately 9km north of Nerja. The views are stunning and the typical Spanish whitewashed buildings are stunning.

Also the Isle of Arran, it’s Scotland in miniature. Stunning scenery, plenty of outdoor activities and really friendly accommodating locals putting up with tourism, although it’s a massive income stream for the island. We stay in Lochranza in the North, we like to get away from it all, it’s very dodgy for mobile signals which we love, we’re on holiday after all and want peace and quiet.

daffodilfan · 07/03/2024 15:18

Minack Theatre in Cornwall (probably not what you are looking for this time...)

Justcashnosweets · 07/03/2024 15:19

Croatia's Dalmation coast and islands. Stunning and peaceful.

Deathraystare · 07/03/2024 15:21

Another Slovenia fan! Loved the lakes, mountains and the caves! The countryside too!
