Yes! Sad beige house for sad beige people

I actually sent the link to this house to Sad Beige Lady yesterday, haha! I’m looking forward to seeing what Werner Herzog has to say about this.

Even the shoes in the hallway match.

And the coats etc on the pegs

Zone2NorthLondon · 03/03/2024 13:42

I’m in the minority, I really love it

Clingfilm · 03/03/2024 13:43

Imagine waking up there and walking around, I'd think my eyes had broken and I'd lost the ability to see colours.

It's like some Victorian poverty emulation experience.

inamarina · 03/03/2024 13:51

I quite like it, even though I usually love a bit of colour.
I definitely prefer it to super tidy and clutter-free grey and chrome interiors.
The pictures look edited though, as if they used some sort of sepia filter.

It was the random man climbing the stairs for me 🤷‍♀️

He was not wearing his hessian sack. Intruder alert.

Purplecatshopaholic · 03/03/2024 13:53

As it’s a rental it makes sense I guess - it’s not for me though! I need colour in my life and in my home, lol.

queenofthewild · 03/03/2024 13:56

I don't usually mind a house spider. But those log piles will be full of them.

TheBunyip · 03/03/2024 14:04

as so often with a "theme" the execution is slightly off and that's what makes it so jarring. the super fashionable lime wash, but a bit too grey, applied in slightly too small clouds so the texture is just a bit too fussy.

as someone said above, it's just a bit inauthentic. which is fine, you go all out and buy your interior wholesale but it's an approach driven by hyper consumerism. it'll all be in he bin and onto the next insta trend next year.

It looks the the sort of house an Instagram 'homesteader' type mum would live in to me. All the kids would be dressed in shades of neutral pinafores with knee high socks and brown cardigans, with unbrushed hair, often spotted holding posies of flowers picked from the garden.

First thought!

It's pretty. But in a catalogue kind of way as opposed to 'my real life home' kind of way.

Cockapoopoopoo · 03/03/2024 14:08

I can't work out if I like it or not, the walls definitely give off victorian workhouse vibes, if the walls changed it would be alright

onestepfromgrace · 03/03/2024 14:09

It looks like something staged in Beamish Museum

DiscoBeat · 03/03/2024 14:09

I can see them in JojoMaman. 'No darling, you can't have a ghastly red coat. Mummy doesn't like colour'

Why did they not make the bed?

Actually after seeing the nursery room I've changed my mind, it is bloody horrible

Stillwaitingfor · 03/03/2024 14:15

It looks very calm

JJathome · 03/03/2024 14:16

Some of these comments are absolutely cringe, my toes are literally curling. It reads like envy. It’s clearly not bloody horrible, grim, Victorian poverty, it’s utterly embarrassing.

yet I know when the “chavvy” house of others at the low end were posted, the op got their arse handed to them, for taking the piss out of someone’s home. Yet, when it’s something expensive, then it seems all bets are off. You can lash out all you want and attack it.

Mamette · 03/03/2024 14:16

I wouldn’t mind the aesthetic in general if it was a country cottage type house. But the street view looks suburban so that makes the whole thing a bit jarring imo.

Even in a country setting I would hate the walls and the depressing playroom.

Dontcallmescarface · 03/03/2024 14:18

I like it.

<gets beige coat>

Annasoror · 03/03/2024 14:22

I've seen far worse. And it would be easy to move in and work from there to establish your own style.

Wingham · 03/03/2024 14:24

I quite like the raw plaster look.
But not for the whole house.

Id find the complete lack of colour very depressing but used as a background to more colourful pictures and furnishings it keeps it simple as a rental.

It makes a change from the mainly grey houses we see on rightmove I suppose.

Why did they not make the bed?

To be fair, after she'd spent over five hundred notes on a beige viscose sack, viscose leggings, viscose undershirt and cotton jumper to try and keep warm, seeing Persephone in a red coat would make her feel like she's in an Amish Schindler's List.

ssd · 03/03/2024 14:29

You trying to rent out your house op?

MrsJellybee · 03/03/2024 14:30

Other than the waste of space under the stairs, I absolutely love it.

Dibilnik · 03/03/2024 14:33

Good luck keeping all those logs tidy under the stairs!

Illbebythesea · 03/03/2024 14:38

I really like this style but agree they’ve gone a bit OTT with it.
