I'm looking at renewing my delivery pass. Which should I go with? All seem to be similar prices in passes at the moment

I worked at ASDA and would never, ever use their online shopping, lol.

We use Tesco and have never had any issues. We can't get Sainsbury's here.

I like Sainsbury’s. Good range of everything, the organic meat and fruit is decent and we rarely have many substitutions. If we do then they’re substituted well.

We tried Asda and Tesco over the years but weren’t impressed.

Needmorelego · 03/03/2024 10:08

For home delivery? I use Iceland. Always on time and rarely out of stock of anything.

BeretRaspberry · 03/03/2024 10:09

Sainsbury’s for us. I don’t know if it’s just what we’re used to but I’ve found the quality better than Asda. And Tesco used to be more expensive - though I do pop to Tesco now and then.

We’ve never had any issues with them either. They usually always have everything we need and if we don’t, the subs are good.

Why not Asda?

We have used Sainsburys for years. Always found them fab!! However since Christmas we have have rotten meat delivered four times. They refunded but didn't seem to care. If it does not improve I won't be renewing my delivery pass

Runningwildish · 03/03/2024 10:22

Asda for me, they were the only supermarket I could get a delivery from when I was isolating during lockdown, so they've got my loyalty now, plus a can of Heinz beans is the same wherever it comes from.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/03/2024 10:44

Sainsbury's are the only place where we can get the bread and teabags that we like, but we have been using Morrison's because we get free delivery (NHS). However I have just done my first Ocado shop. Very pleased I can order the red delicious apples from M&S, we haven't had it delivered yet so I still have to see how good it is.

We used to order from Sainsburys, and it was very useful to be able to indicate whether we would accept a substitution (not sure if they still do that?). I think Tesco have that option too, don't know about Asda. Morrison's dont, neither do Ocado.

Clearinguptheclutter · 03/03/2024 10:45

Possibly not an issue for you but sainsburys is far and away the best for vegetarians/meat substitutes

Why not Asda?

My experience was that there were lots of substitutions and we often ran out of things or they had short dates. I used it a couple of times when I worked there (staff discount) and even then it wasn't worth it.

It may have improved since!

serin · 03/03/2024 10:49

Ocado.

Willmafrockfit · 03/03/2024 10:51

i swapped and changed between tesco and asda,
tesco let me down with their delivery not turning up.

MsSquiz · 03/03/2024 10:52

I mainly use Tesco and have their delivery pass. Never had any wild subs or massively late deliveries.

Occasionally I will get an Asda delivery for things I can't get from Tesco or if they any huge discounts in comparison.

I also do a top up shop at M&S, but not delivery as Ocado don't deliver here

vincettenoir · 03/03/2024 10:52

I don't really have much preference. I have moved around a lot and always gone to my nearest good sized supermarket without much loyalty to any of them. I think a lot of people are like this.

Willmafrockfit · 03/03/2024 10:53

i now shop in person and still swap and change between tesco and asda,
i get 10% off at asda with my rewards plus blue light card
but tesco has more choice

Queijo · 03/03/2024 10:53

Asda is awful. I’ve used them twice recently due to having a voucher for them and never, ever again.

My last shop I had 27 subs on a shop totalling £130. Absolutely insane. Shop before that they just didn’t deliver it (which is how I ended up with a voucher again!)

Tesco is usually consistent, and the subs are usually much better than what you ordered and you aren’t charged for them which I do like.

Sainsbos once almost ruined DD’s birthday party by subbing the most insane things. Party plates with washing up sponges? Why 😂

AnotherEmma · 03/03/2024 10:53

Ocado.

If I'm physically going to a supermarket, i
prefer Sainsbury's, but don't like their delivery - too many substitions.

MimiHendrix · 03/03/2024 10:54

I found Asda and Tesco delivery both dreadful, but haven’t used them in years so they may have improved. Ocado is the only delivery service I’ve found consistently good.

In terms of products, I think Asda offer a good range and prices tend to be lower, but I prefer Sainsbury’s overall. I have a big one near me and it’s a good, all rounder supermarket. Tesco is expensive and I don’t rate it.

Moier · 03/03/2024 11:11

Sainsbury's
I'm disabled.. they bring my shopping in right to my kitchen counter.. food is better quality and cheaper..
( ASDA meat is butchered near me and known for the poor quality).
If you have a Necta card there is always loads of produce cheaper with it..
Great if they get something wrong .. or it's damaged.

Mollifi · 03/03/2024 11:12

I think it depends on your local stores, their culture, the pickers.

We have 2 Tesco's near us and the click and collect from one is streets better than the one from the other.

I think Tesco's system has changed and they are giving hardly any substitutions now, but they do it by restricting things you can put in your basket and ruthlessly removing anything you've added and they've decided they are low on.

For us I favour Tesco at the moment. Morale is in the toilet for Asda drivers here, which puts me off. Newbies not knowing the box numbering system and getting no support from management, no uniforms, rotten veg, it just looks like a shit show. But I do think (or hope) it's a local issue.

screendown · 03/03/2024 11:13

Ocado is hands down the best

BarelyLiterate · 03/03/2024 11:15

Anyone but Asda.

mitogoshi · 03/03/2024 11:18

None. They all mess up far too often. Morrisons was the best of the bunch and we liked their meal boxes during Covid. Ocado is better but too expensive.

We use hello fresh or Gousto for 3 meals then shop in Lidl for the rest. Works out cheaper for 2

SpringOfContentment · 03/03/2024 11:19

Tesco.
All the sainsburys are tiny round here, and ASDA is 6 miles away on the "wrong" side of semi-permanent roadworks.

So, no useful information for you!

Lyly86 · 03/03/2024 11:24

Always Sainsbury's for me! They have a really wide selection and do Aldi price matching on loads of items. Rarely have any substitutions and fruit and veg are always fresh, also if any items are closer to their "use by" date than they should be, they give you the items but refund the money
