Cake/polystyrene castle builder “has been making cakes for Madeline for 6 years”.

Big Fat Gypsy Wedding type cultural context I’m guessing?

Wow!! That's quite the cake - I bet the cake decorator was proud of it, it looks like it's defying gravity. Part art, part cake! I hope the cake part tasted delicious!

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 26/02/2024 13:53

Looks like a standard issue Traveller wedding.

It’s mostly made of polystyrene.

WildCherryBlossom · 26/02/2024 13:54

That is incredible! It really is a work of art!

Mrsjayy · 26/02/2024 13:55

yes I think they are travellers that cake maker must be raking it in good for them. although what happens once the wedding is over do they just dismantle it?

nocoolnamesleft · 26/02/2024 13:55

But hardly any of it is cake. Isn't that cheating?

Mrsjayy · 26/02/2024 13:57

Well some of it is cake so I guess it's cake !

3peassuit · 26/02/2024 13:57

It’s not my taste but it made the bride happy so good luck to them.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 26/02/2024 13:58

What are your questions OP?

Mrsjayy · 26/02/2024 13:59

I used to watch Ace of cakes on food network they used polystyrene and rice crispies to scaffold their massive cakes.

ohfourfoxache · 26/02/2024 14:00

She “married her childhood sweetheart”

At the ripe old age of 18 🤣

readingmakesmehappy · 26/02/2024 14:01

I did wonder how on earth such a young couple could afford a £50k wedding

Kedece2410 · 26/02/2024 14:02

Looks like a travellers wedding going by the photos & the 200 guests. So a pretty typical expense

You can do a lot with money if you pay minimum tax.

Prefer the one that my 18yo made for her Dad this weekend

What are your questions OP?

  1. Why does it say she paid for it?
  2. Who actually paid for it?
  3. why has this girl had a personal professional cake maker since age 13?
  4. is the cake maker part of a family business connected to the couple?
  5. what do she and her husband do for a living?

That’s a few of them.

That’s brilliant @cuckyplunt .

@Heather37231

Ok, I get the cake may not be too your taste, but you've got to admit it's a showstopper!

I'm going to have a guess at answering your questions!

• Why does it say she paid for it? - Maybe she did! She could be a lottery winner for all we know. But what does it matter - as long as the cake sculptor got paid.

• Who actually paid for it? Why? How does that make a difference?

• why has this girl had a personal professional cake maker since age 13? No idea....but what harm is it doing? There are far worse things in the world to worry about.

• is the cake maker part of a family business connected to the couple? What if she is? She's got a nice bit of advertising out of it, so a good result for her!

• what do she and her husband do for a living? Are you this nosey about every bride/wedding or is it because this appears to be a traveller community wedding? Rearrange your judgy pants, your racism is showing.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 26/02/2024 14:19

@cuckyplunt I absolutely love your cake!

Oh don’t be ridiculous, you sell your story to the Daily Mail you are obviously inviting questions!

I am also amused at the cake maker describing the 18 year-old as “an old romantic”.

@Heather37231 I think @TheCountessofLocksley was spot on. Maybe I’m wrong and apologies if I am but your post came across as very judgemental and quite sneery
